A Weekend Prayer

R-71 Update: Be active on this last weekend before the election. Encourage everyone to vote and to get their ballots in.

Sign Rallies are being organized on very short notice this weekend. Attend if possible. Check our calendar for times and locations.

Remember, mail in ballots must be postmarked on or before November 3. If they are postmarked later than the 3rd, they will not be counted. You may drop off your ballot at ballot collection boxes in your county until 8 PM, on the 3rd. To check ballot drop off locations, see our homepage.

Be wary of last minute polls designed to discourage you. These are nearly always sponsored by folks who want SB 5688 to become law. They will be presented by the media over the next five days. They are designed to silence and discourage you.

Beware of last minute converts to this campaign. Appreciate their vote. Discern their motives. Forgive them.

Be at peace. You have and are doing everything humanly possible to protect marriage and the family. Continue through Election Day, but be at peace. "Let not your heart be troubled."

Do not be fearful of retaliation from homosexual activists. God will protect you. Larry Stickney and I have seen it all. We are still standing, because God is faithful and He is able.

A Weekend Prayer

Approaching the final weekend before an historic decision will be made as to whether Washingtonians will protect and preserve marriage or walk away from natural marriage, one might wonder what more I can do to defend marriage and the family?

While reading the teaching of One, whose--to paraphrase a man named John---shoe lace I am not worthy to tie, I found both comfort and direction.

Jesus taught us to pray and it was He who prayed, "Deliver us from evil."

The Bible characterizes all as sinners, in need of deliverance, redemption and salvation. It characterizes the act---not the person---"the act" of homosexuality as un-natural, vile affections, unseemly and an abomination.

When one's identity is defined by his deviant sexual behavior, one cannot make the distinction between rejecting the "act" and rejecting the person. Consequently, any position that does not support and advance the homosexual agenda is seen as rejecting or hating the person. Opposition to enshrining this behavior into law and redefining marriage, family and educational curriculum is seen as hate.

The spirit that drives that thinking and the homosexual agenda is driven more by rebellion against the Creator, than it is sexual behavior. And that spirit is evil.

We pray to be delivered from that spirit.

R-71 has never been about "taking" anything away from anyone. It has always been about preserving the ageless institution of natural marriage that has been the norm of every successful society in human history.

Unfortunately, that distinction has been lost to some in our society who have been seduced into feeling they are not compassionate or "fair" unless they agree to redefine the proven historical norms of marriage and family.

That spirit is referenced in the New Testament book of Romans as changing, "the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator." The actions that resulted from that decision are described as, "women changing their natural use which is against nature" and "men leaving the natural use of the woman" burning in "lust toward one another."

The book of Romans further teaches that although people knew there would be negative consequences to their rebellious thinking and actions, they continued and people who had known the judgement of God, had "pleasure in them that do them."

No wonder President Obama's appointee to his Faith Based Program, self professed "homosexual Christian," Harry Knox, said he believes teachings in the book of Romans is "not true." And it was our President who described this teaching as "obscure".

This spirit attacks the Bible---it should not be surprising that those who advocate and advance biblical teaching would also be attacked.

This spirit that rejects biblical teaching also seduces the electorate, both locally and nationally. As many have said, we are not standing against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers.

As we approach the final weekend before the vote on SB 5688, be at peace.

Take a moment and pray the Lord's Prayer. I am including it in both traditional and more contemporary language:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory. for ever and ever. Amen
This is the most important thing to be done this weekend. And every day.

Your Kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours.
Now and for ever. Amen

  2. Don't worry Gary ---- with the litigious nature of your side of this case (so far you have brought at least 4 lawsuits by my count) I'm sure if someone tried to cast their ballot even on Nov. 4th you would go to court and make an argument that it infringes on their constitutional rights.

I will pray you lose and that this state APPROVE of domestic partnerships.....and then vote for same-sex marriage when that is the actual issue before them.

And then, I hope that if SCOTUS sides with you and keeps the signatures secret that someone in this state puts together an initiative to take away tax-exempt status of religious groups. I'll sign that one.

Just keep on doing what you are doing. It wouldn't matter if the sky was falling on your head you wouldn't hear the warning. Your in no state of mind to even hear what has been said over and over again.

By practicing homosexuality you are endangering your life. But you don't consider that a problem. Fine. Just keep on doing what you are doing and we will keep on loving as Christ has instructed. But you sure are deaf.

Actually, chicken little, to believe the sky is falling, when one cannot point to a single piece of evidence to support this assertion, is delusional. I'll take deaf over delusional any day.

  6. Hey Gary, thank you for your leadership on this issue. Danny and I are proud to support you and to support marriage in WA.

I'm sure you already know this quote, but it is worth repeating: "Duty is ours; the results are God's." (John Quincy Adams in reference to his fight against slavery).

We are in a fight against a different kind of slavery - the slavery of homosexuality that snares people into its prison and eventually kills them. I HATE to see what it has done to family members or friends I've loved in my life who were homosexual. BTW they are all dead now (from AIDS). Most repented before death, so I have the hope that I will see them again in heaven.

If anyone thinks that makes me a "hater" well then so be it. The only thing I hate is that which kills people who think they are on the path to life.

  7. As we know from the book of Romans (chapter 1:32) that those that do those things are not only worthy of death, practice those things, but also have pleasure in them that do the same.

    They actually rejoice in iniquity.

    I Cor 13:4-6
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily
    provoked, thinketh no evil;
    Rejoiceth not in iniquity,....

They are not in love are they? Love isn't a part of their agenda is it? I wonder what it is that rejoices in iniquity....why whatever it is, it's contrary to love isn't it?....It seems to do the exact opposite of the love of God...What could it be, though it wear a disguise?

There are things men call love, but it isn't the love of God. It isn't what the Bible calls Charity.

There is a city mentioned at the end of the Bible, and outside it's gates are those that do not walk in charity. There are those that are in all kinds of the things of the flesh. They are not a nice group. They are not allowed in. God keeps them out. Outside the gates of the city of God are dogs, sorcerers, whoremongers, murderers, idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

And there is the second death, a place of eternal fire and torment that is inhabited by the devil and the fallen angels who have power over those who are also thrown in (see Revelation 20:15) because their names are not at that time found written in the Lamb's book of life, and it burns, and the smoke of the torment goes on forever.

The only way to escape such judgment is to receive Christ Jesus as both Lord and Saviour, repent of all your sins that you are aware of, leave them all behind, and go on learning about Christ and how to follow after the things of God, and keep going in the power of the cross which is able to redeem men from destruction, as it has legal power over the devil and his ways
    because of Jesus.

This is Anonymous 7:16. I'm actually not homosexual. But I have family members who are and I love them dearly.

I am not deaf --- but you apparently cannot fathom that a straight person would defend my gay family members the way that I did in my first post.

You are the one who should open your mind because you asserted my deafness on your faulty assumption.

PS - My parents are both former Lutheran ministers and they are fighting for my siblings rights in R-71.

So yes - I am a practicing Lutheran from a minister's family in support of R-71. I bet this just blows out of the water all your assumptions.

Now, it does not 'blow me out of the water, with all our assumptions. But, I do feel it's sad that one can't stay firm with ones convictions, and stay within God's princples, and reject this lifestyle, but accept and love the the people in your life, without compromising your basic faith and guidlines that is established in God's word. I am from the 60's. While in a strict Bible college, I had friends who chose this lifestyle. We made NO jugments, as in those days, there were no issues about the gay lifestyles. We were friends, and never approached the subject of their choies. Live and let live. It was peaceful! I wished it stayed that way! They respected our authentic marriages, while we accepted them as friends, and their 'choices'.

  10. The mere fact that you have to use quotation marks for the word choice indicates you were judging them then and are judging them now.

  11. You are wrong. We had a friendship.
I have fond memories of us 'sneaking' in our rooms,in front of our mirrors, learning to do the twist! We drove home together on weekends, with others. LIke I said, it was never brought up, as in those days, it was not an issue. 'live and let live'. The laws were not involved, as they are now.

  12. Hey Evangelicals

You are sinning by your judging the world - ICor5:12, 13.

Your ethics are for judging the church - you are NOT called to be "morality police" of the world - that is God's job. By taking on God's job you are engaging in idolatry. Please stop you sin!!

    ReplyDelete
  13. 11:24,

Actually, if your claims of a friendship are even true, the laws were involved then. The laws then said that your "friends" could be thrown in jail for who they loved. But I guess were such a good friend that it never occurred to you, then or now, that the laws were involved.

Of course, a return to the laws of then is just what Gary and his ilk seek as their ultimate goal.
