2010: A Personal Look Forward

American patriot and statesman Patrick Henry once said, "When people forget God, tyrants forge their chains."

The chains are being forged.

There are those among us---in the nation and in the state, who are working tirelessly to move the culture away from God and the godly principles and beliefs that made this nation the greatest in the history of the world.

Their effort to exchange "Truth" for relativism is well underway.

Death is elevated through abortion and legalized euthanasia, while the sanctity of life is diminished, devalued and trampled upon under the guise of "choice".

Marriage, family and the culture are redefined to affirm a perverse sexual lifestyle choice and normalize gender confusion. All with the intent to "remake" the American culture.

Yet the greatest danger in 2010, to family, marriage, life, and the values both our Founders and people of faith and conservatives hold today, may not be those who actively perpetrate the secularizing and remaking of our culture. It may be closer to our own front door.

People of faith and conservatives have a moral obligation to act---for the sake of our children, grandchildren, ourselves, our neighbors and ultimately the Kingdom of God.

The word occupy comes to mind.

We are called to resist evil. Not one another.

The battle is challenging, most often not popular.

However, it is difficult to understand how people who know the Truth and see the moral decay and resulting bondage that spiritual decay imposes on all, can either gradually or suddenly abandon the battle.

Of the thousands who read this blog, most have not abandoned the battle. Some have. And some who read us are working to advance the remaking of America and silence those who believe otherwise.

Abandonment happens for two reasons:

First, there are those who sell out. Some politicians do this after they are elected. They do it to gain acceptance, money or power.

Secondly, there are those who become hopeless, believing the cause is lost, they are already defeated or believe defeat is inevitable and they retreat.

Sellout. Retreat.

Hopelessness leads to a belief that one's abandonment of the battle, will somehow give them greater acceptance among those who are advancing evil, have more influence and be seen as "emphasizing the positive." As opposed to those who resist, being seen as negative.

That's nonsense. Neither Christianity nor conservatism has ever been seen as chic. Nor will it be.

We fight the battle because we love good---we love Truth. And hate evil.

Our emphasis on the negative is only one side of a coin that points to the consequences of such behavior, while the other side of the coin points to the eternal values and principles we hold deeply. And the benefits that follow those values and principles when practiced.

Resisting the rising tide of evil in our culture and advancing Judeo-Christian values and principles is mutually complimentary.

We can and must do both. We can advance and resist.

Silence is most often a favorite destination for those who retreat.

Martin Luther King,Jr., whose birthday we celebrate this month said, "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."

These things matter. They matter deeply to me and I'm sure they do to many who are reading my words.

We will not be silent. We will continue to fight to save the values, the principles, the people and the country we love.

We will not be distracted by retreatists or by those who sell out.

The battle field is often messy, but we will continue.

Some of Murray Rothbard's writings have given me inspiration on these matters, including in the following comments. In one of his writings he says, "We must not abandon our lives, our properties, our America...Never. Let us act in the spirit of that magnificent hymn that James Russell Lowell set to a lovely Welsh melody:"

Once to every man and nation

Comes the moment to decide,

In the strife of truth with falsehood,

For the good or evil side;

Some great cause, God's new Messiah,

Offering each the bloom or blight,

And the choice goes by forever

Twixt that darkness and that light.

Though the cause of evil prosper,

Yet 'tis truth alone is strong;

Though her portion be the scaffold,

And upon the throne be wrong,

Yet that scaffold sways the future,

And, behind the dim unknown,

Standeth God within the shadow

Keeping watch above His own.

2010 can be a year of reclamation. If not we will have stood on the right side of Truth.

Thank you for standing with us in your financial support.
