WA State Sen. Paull Shin Wants "Cash For Kids"

Senator Paull Shin, D-Edmonds, is sponsoring a bill, SB 6466 that he says will create more cash for the state school system. I call it "cash for kids".

Here's what he is proposing.

Shin's bill, SB 6466, will provide for the state schools to allow advertising on the inside and outside of public school buses. He says each district school board will decide who is and who is not allowed to advertise, however, the advertising must be "educational".

Faith and Freedom Foundation is a non-profit educational foundation. Can we advertise? Probably not. We're Christian. What about churches or mosques or temples that are not Christian. What about Freedom From Religion? ---The group that puts atheist signs on buses, near Nativities and a number of other places. They're not Christian or religious---and they educate. "Yes Virginia, There Is No God."

Okay, nothing that is kind of like religion.

What about Planned Parenthood? They offer educational materials. How about condom companies? They would be somewhat educational. Or, morning after abortion pills? Will educational materials tend to be liberal and progressive or conservative?

Coke or Pepsi?

Likely Mr. Shin means well. Money is in scarce supply for state run institutions. But is this something we should do?

Public school has our children and grandchildren a good part of everyday, to socialize, educate and indoctrinate. Do we really want our kids and grand kids to be hustled while traveling to and from school every day for a little more cash?

Please give Senator Shin a call or email and ask him to withdraw his "cash for kids" bill. Tell him our kids are worth more than that.

God help the children.
