Join others this week in contacting your friends and family, reminding them to vote if they have not yet done so.

We have been told the Faith and Freedom PAC
candidate endorsement list has been a great help to many as they cast their vote.
____________

A Rasmuessen poll, this week, is showing that 43% of likely voters believe that neither Republicans or Democrats in Congress are the party of the people.

In fact, 38% think Republicans and Democrats are so much alike that an entirely new party is needed, however, 50% say a new party is not necessary at this time.

One thing is certain. Americans see elected officials as elitist, out of touch and not representative of their values, concerns and needs.

In a rush to be elected, some Republican leaders are advocating that voters should set aside their core values on life, marriage and family to focus on economic concerns. And the likely Republican success in the upcoming election will probably be used to affirm that false premise.

If we are to do so, we are missing an inescapable truth. Character is destiny.

While some dismiss the admonitions of those who founded America as, well, old and irrelevant, before we do so, we must look at their accomplishments.

They founded the greatest, most free and prosperous nation in history. And they knew the importance of character.

Samuel Adams, considered by many to be the father of the American Revolution, certainly understood why patriots fought and died for freedom and how this country would endure.

He was convinced that the destiny of our country was inseparably linked to the character of its leaders.

He said:
"If men of wisdom and knowledge, of moderation and temperance, of patience, fortitude and perseverance, of sobriety and true republican simplicity of manners, of zeal for the honor of the Supreme Being and the welfare of the commonwealth; if men possessed of these other excellent qualities are chosen to fill the seats of government, we can expect that our affairs will rest on a solid and permanent foundation."

As Adams recognized that character is destiny, so must we. Character and proper policy are not mutually exclusive. Leaders can posses both, but if a candidate does not value the most basic, God-honored sanctity of life and the importance of natural marriage as the cornerstone of every successful civilization and culture in history, how can they chart a long term prosperous future and destiny?

Our foundations are crumbling. Citizens are fearful and angry. In 2008, we chose "ideas" over character. "Ideas" do not lead a country, nor do they get elected. People do.

People who lack character, seldom keep their policy promises.

Our present "affairs" do not rest on a solid and permanent foundation.

Your vote, when cast on character first, is an act of restoration and of determining the destiny of our country.

Be Prayerful. Be Wise. Be Discerning. Be Blessed. Be Free.
