Obama-Biden, The Hollow Men

Last night, the Vice President did his best to resuscitate President Obama after his mile high melt down debate performance in Denver. But it's hard to do. The President is becoming a very hard sell. His debate performance reflected his policy performance.

The man who coined the phrase, that has now become a bumper sticker, "Osama Bin Laden is dead--General Motors is alive" probably defined a new low in American politics. His demeanor was the story of the evening. And all of his antics could not cover the failures of this administration.

The bumper sticker has slipped.

Joe Biden smirked, laughed, mocked, snorted, was condescending, arrogant and disrespectful toward Paul Ryan, the moderator and the American people who were watching on television. Was he trying to laugh off America's problems? Or simply diminish Mr. Ryan? He pointed his pen in the face of the moderator, when she challenged him, even though she bailed him out on several issues by moving away from Ryan's comments.

Biden's demeanor suggested hollow leadership. Lack of substance.

Joe Biden's performance defined bullying. Paul Ryan's performance defined respect. And a command of the facts.

Biden was so irritating, even CNN's far left liberal Piers Morgan tweeted, "Joe, seriously, STOP SMIRKING. This is serious stuff. Be Vice-Presidential."

While watching the debate, I thought of T.S. Eliot's, "The Hollow Men". It was written in another time, but to a degree, reflects the shadowy darkness of our times. A time when the White House lies to the American public about the events in Libya, while privately asking Russia for some slack until after the election. Apologizing to the Muslim world for America's shortcomings. Undermining the moral foundations of our culture.

Eliot wrote: "We are hollow men...Shape without form, shade without colour, paralysed force, gesture without motion;"

We are the hollow men
We are the stuffed men
Leaning together
Headpiece filled with straw. Alas!
Our dried voices, when
We whisper together
Are quiet and meaningless
As wind in dry grass
Or rats’ feet over broken glass
In our dry cellar

Shape without form, shade without colour,
Paralysed force, gesture without motion;

"Gesture Without Motion," could also be a bumper sticker---or a page in history.

Packed out stadiums, fainting women, celebrities crying--promises of Hope and Change---balanced budgets and reduced deficits, have in reality, become "gesture without motion."

Promises to elevate America's global image among Muslims has been answered with the increased massacre of American citizens and the destruction of our Embassies.

" Paralysed force." "Gesture without motion."

The President has forced through Congress the launch of a socialist form of health care that will bankrupt the country, reduce the level of American health care and undermine religious freedom--all launched during the greatest recession since my father's Great Depression. It's a destructive idea that only shadows reality.

T.S. Eliot also wrote:

Between the conception

and the creation,

Between the emotion

And the response,

Falls the Shadow.

The President is destroying the greatest economic center in the history of the world.

He is also causing the foundations of the most blessed and prosperous, God honoring culture in the history of the human race, to crumble.

Through his advocacy for abortion and homosexual "marriage," he stands before the world in denial of the Judeo-Christian values upon which this country was founded..

He claims to be a Christian, but denies the very teaching of the Founder of Christianity--Jesus Christ. Jesus said, "No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). The President has said publicly he disagrees. He does not believe Jesus is the only way to God.

He is lost between conception and response--lost in the shadows.

America deserves better.

Eliot's "Hollow Men" seem incapable of facing reality or engaging in real life, authoring real solutions to real problems---they can only whisper meaningless phrases--lacking purpose and passion beyond their own political ambitions.

Eliot's poem concludes with, "This is how the world ends, not with a bang, but with a whimper."

This election is our opportunity to change the course of our country and our communities.

This election gives America a very clear choice of the direction they want their country to move.

Incidentally, Mitt Romney met with Billy and Franklin Graham yesterday. After praying for Romney, Billy said, "I'll do all I can to help you. And you can quote me on that."

Franklin is leading a massive effort to get Christians to vote in this election.

This is your time to step out of the shadows and vote. To talk the talk, but not walk the walk and not vote is your version of "gesture without motion."

God help us.

Be Vigilant. Be Discerning. Be Prayerful. Be Active. Be Blessed.
