Parents and grandparents should be aware that Disney's "Good Luck Charlie" sitcom will feature a "family" with 2 moms in one of the episodes that will air early in 2014.

The episode is being produced this week.

And it is this week that the Supreme Court of the United States is expected to rule on the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and California's Proposition 8. Their ruling will have a significant impact on marriage, the family and the freedom of voters in an individual state.

Is same-sex marriage a "civil right?" If so, why? If not, why not?

The media and entertainment industry is doing everything humanly possible to normalize homosexual relations, legalize same-sex "marriage" and advance an agenda that stands against biblical truth and nature's commonsense.

Here is more information about the storyline in Disney's sitcom, some thoughts on the media and their frontal attack on family and marriage and the Supreme Court's anticipated ruling on marriage?

In the storyline of "Good Luck Charlie," parents Amy and Bob Duncan set up a playdate for preschooler Charlie and one of her new friends. When the kid arrives, the Duncans learn that Charlie's pal has 2 moms.

It is not coincidental that Charlie's mom has a interesting, meaningful conversation with one of the friend's moms, while Charlie's dad, Bob, is cast as boring and inept in his conversation with the other lesbian.

Thanks Disney.

Disney says they understand the "ground breaking" nature of featuring a same-sex couple on one of their sitcoms and took extra care in crafting the episode.

A Disney spokesperson said, "This particular storyline was developed under the consultancy of child development experts and community advisers."

"Like all Disney Channel programs," they said, "it was developed to be relevant to kids and families around the world and to reflect the themes of diversity and inclusiveness."

That is not true and Disney would know that. This is not an attempt to be "relevant" to kids and families around the world.

Most countries around the world strongly reject the idea of normalizing homosexual behavior and redefining marriage either for religious reasons or the obvious cultural and natural reasons.

Disney is surely aware that up to a million people have demonstrated in France in opposition to redefining marriage. Russia, China and other countries around the world flatly reject what is becoming the defining issue in America as a result of the Obama administration's insistence that homosexual behavior is equivalent to ethnicity and is a "civil right." The entertainment industry is complicit in advancing this so-called "civil right."

Disney is not reflecting current world social conditions, as the entertainment and television is fond of saying they do, rather it is joining its voice with other activists who seek to redefine marriage and family while shaking their fist at nature and nature's God.

You may recall last February, the Associated Press notified their constituents of a new entry in the AP Stylebook, a handbook that AP reporters and others use to determine which words to use in their reporting. The new words had to do with "husband" and "wife."

This was the directive to news people:

husband--wife. "Regardless of sexual orientation, husband or wife is acceptable in all references to individuals in any legalized marriage. Spouse or partner may be used if requested.

For more than 6000 years of recorded human civilization, it was universally understood that a "husband" was a male and a "wife" was a female. They got married to form what was understood to be the best possible environment to produce and raise children. That environment was called a family. While there were those who deviated from that model, it did not seem to be in the best interest of the vast majority of people on the earth to formally redefine that model---particularly to favor 3% to 5% who have chosen a lifestyle of deviant sexual behavior.

Now in our drunken cultural stupor, the enlightened crusaders who have exchanged the "Truth for a lie" and the uninformed people who follow them, think they are carrying the torch for "civil rights" like those who led in the authentic civil rights movement of the 1940's, 50's and 60's.

To equate homosexual behavior with ethnicity is beyond belief.

And it is offensive. Most Blacks will explain the difference. My Black friend and brother Pastor Ken Hutcherson is very articulate in explaining the difference.

Under the guise of enlightenment, open mindedness, diversity and inclusiveness, they are shaking their fist at nature and nature's God---our Creator, while claiming to be "Christian."

So what will the highest court in the land say in their ruling?

Dr. R. Albert Mohler Jr. serves president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, the flagship seminary of the Southern Baptist Convention and one of the largest seminaries in the world.

Dr. Mohler says, "We should have seen it coming."

He says, "The revolution has happened, and it has been stunningly successful. The advocates for the normalization of homosexuality and the legalization of same-sex marriage have used legal arguments developed from the civil rights era to their advantage. Arguments used to end the scourge of racial segregation were deployed to normalize homosexuality and homosexual relationships. Over the years, these arguments have led to such major developments as the decriminalization of homosexual behaviors, the inclusion of homosexuals within the United States military, and the legalization of same-sex marriage in some states."

One looming question is, "What should be the Christian response to this?" Many say, that's an easy answer, the Bible very clearly condemns homosexual behavior.

Yet, there are politicians and some church leaders who are denying biblical teaching on the matter and calling for the behavior to be "normalized" and marriage redefined. And many of them claim their support of homosexuality and redefining marriage is a result of their Christian faith.

All Christians must recognize the importance of civil rights and that the very notion of civil rights is based on a Christian worldview and the affirmation that every human is made in God's image and therefore posses dignity and certain essential rights.

This belief framed the Declaration of Independence---"We hold these truths to be self-evident..."

How are any rights "self evident" when that evidence comes from God whom they have dismissed from the national narrative?

And how can people who claim to be Christian and also claim redefining marriage to be a Christian act of justice when it stands against God's Word and God's natural plan for human relations?

The Supreme Court will likely render their ruling this week and it could have a profound impact on marriage and family for generations to come.

Dr. Mohler concludes with this:

Discrimination on the basis of an unchangeable characteristic such as skin color would be wrong. But Christians cannot accept the argument that homosexuality is an immutable characteristic. While recognizing the complexity of issues related to sexual orientation, we cannot define a behavior as an intrinsic characteristic. On that basis, why not grant theft or other sinful behavior the same civil rights protection?

Furthermore, we recognize that marriage, like human rights, exists prior to the law. Christians understand that marriage was instituted by the Creator, who designed marriage and the family as the foundational social unit of human society. Marriage unites a man and a woman in a holy covenant that should last as long as they both live.

From the very beginning, marriage was designed as the union of one man and one woman. Every human society has recognized this meaning of marriage, and all successful civil societies have honored, protected, and defended heterosexual marriage as the union that should govern human sexuality, reproduction, intimacy, and rearing of children.

Those pushing for the legalization of same-sex marriage have been tremendously successful in convincing many people—and several courts—of their argument that same-sex marriage is a civil right. But this is a confusion of categories that Christians cannot accept.

The argument for the legalization of same-sex marriage fails in terms of any constitutional logic that our nation’s founders would have conceived. Beyond this, faithful Christians cannot accept such arguments because an even greater authority—the authority of the Bible as the Word of God—binds us.

The Bible is clear in terms of its teachings on both sexuality and marriage. As Jesus Christ declared, God intended marriage as the union of one man and one woman “from the beginning” (Matthew 19:4–6). The legalization of same-sex marriage would confuse and greatly weaken the single institution that is most central to human society and most essential to human flourishing.

Christians responding to demands for the legalization of same-sex marriage cannot accept the argument that the right to marry a person of the same gender is a civil right.

We are living in an era of moral revolution and seismic cultural change. Christians must remember that our ultimate authority is the Word of God. We are thankful for the recognition of civil rights, but we also understand that these rights will be confused in a sinful world. We must understand that the claim that same-sex marriage is a civil right reveals more than constitutional confusion—it reveals the need of every human being for nothing less than the forgiveness, healing, and redemption that can come only through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

At the end of the day, the argument over same-sex marriage is never just about same-sex marriage, and debates about civil rights are never just about civil rights. Deeper truths and world view implications are always at stake, and it is our responsibility to make certain that we know what those are and stand humbly and compassionately for those truths, regardless of the cost.

This is a time when biblical faith is being challenged on most every cultural front.

In Acts Chapter 25, there is the account of Paul being so committed to the Truth of God's Word that he passes on an opportunity to be released from jail in favor of an opportunity to be taken to Rome for trial. In going to Rome for a trial, he felt there could be the opportunity to preach the gospel at the epicenter of the world of that time. In fact he said he wanted to share the gospel with Caesar himself.

However, the risk was that he could lose the appeal and lose his life.

In his journey to Rome for the trial, which he saw as an "opportunity," chapter 27:4 tells us the ship faced great resistance. Verse 4 says, "The winds were against us." While this was a natural occurrence, Paul faced much resistance throughout his life as he took the gospel to the world. While impacting the known world with the message of Jesus Christ, he also, through his letters to the churches, was used by God to give us much of the New Testament.

Through the current cultural trials, headwinds, resistance---however you wish to define them, God will bring something good from all this. Truth will stand. And we must stand with Truth.

Be Informed. Be Vigilant. Be Discerning. Be Prayerful. Be Blessed.
