Pride and Prejudice in America

Secretary of State John Kerry released a video message Friday saying that US diplomats in every corner of the globe are working to help local lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender organizations.

He suggested that help includes financial aid from the United States.

The Supreme Court will soon rule on whether DOMA is constitutional. The President has declared it is not and has refused to defend it even though it is a federal law.

The US military has begun to systematically punish those who openly support the biblical model of marriage as between one man and one woman, or even express their conservative, traditional biblical beliefs. And there is pressure from the atheist organizations, who obviously have the ear of the Pentagon, to suppress any Christian expression among those serving our country in the military.

During this season of graduation and commencement ceremonies in public high schools across the country, the government run schools continue to attempt to censor the words of our children if the words reflect any narrative that includes the Christian faith, values, principles or even in some cases, references to the faith and ideals of our Founding Fathers.

While John Kerry was telling the world on Friday, advancing the LGBT cause is "central to the United States' commitment to promoting human rights," a high school was turning off the mic on their valedictorian, because he brought God and his faith into his speech. And a valedictorian at Liberty High School in South Carolina tore up his approved speech and led the audience in the Lord's Prayer to cheers and applause. Atheists are now demanding he be punished.

As secular progressivism metastasizes in our culture, those who lead the secularization declare to the world their "Pride" in perversion while exercising "Prejudice" toward people of faith and conservatives.

This is not a new phenomenon. The ancient prophet Isaiah spoke to this issue 2800 years ago.

"Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter" (Isaiah 5:20).

Here are the details.

Sec. of State Kerry says, "Across the globe in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas, our diplomats are assisting local LGBT organizations."

He indicated the assistance included financial aid from the United States. He said, "Through the Global Equity Fund, the State Department has already provided critical emergency and long term assistance to promote and protect the human rights of LGBT persons in over 25 countries."

He also affirmed the President's commitment to this cause, "As President Obama said, 'The struggle to end discrimination against lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender persons is a global challenge, one that is central to the United States commitment.'"

And Kerry said, "LGBT persons must be free to exercise their human rights--- including freedom of expression, freedom of assembly and association---without fear of reprisal."

Hypocrisy.

All people should have that kind of freedom. I do not believe in discrimination.

However, should that same kind of care, concern and support not also be extended to people of the Christian faith? Particularly by a country that was founded on Judeo-Christian principles and values?

Apparently not.

Secular progressives who are presently in power have inverted good and evil. They have exchanged light for dark.

Last Thursday I wrote a Blog on how in less than 60 minutes from the time an atheist group called the Pentagon and demanded a picture in the dining hall at Mountain Home Air Force Base near Boise, Idaho be removed--- it was removed. The reason? It contained a Scripture reference.

Upon taking the stage at his graduation from Liberty High School in South Carolina last weekend, the valedictorian, Roy Costner IV, explained to his fellow students that although he had a prepared speech which had been approved by the administration, he instead was choosing to say the Lord's Prayer as a message to his classmates.

"Those that we look up to, they have helped carve and mold us into the young adults that we are today," Costner told the crowd, adding, "I'm so glad that both of my parents led me to the Lord at a young age."

"And I think most of you will understand when I say […]" Costner continued, pausing briefly before beginning the Lord's Prayer.

"Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name," Costner recited, going on to say the Lord's Prayer in its entirety. The crowd joined him and cheered.

Atheists are now demanding reprisals against the young Christian while suggesting schools dispense with having speakers in the future. The school is scratching its collective head.

A Texas high school silenced its Valedictorian’s microphone during his speech when he diverted from his pre-approved remarks and instead spoke about the Constitution.

Censorship.

Last week I referenced an unnamed soldier who had come under persecution from the military because he, upon receiving a promotion, invited friends to a party to celebrate. His printed invitations said he was celebrating his promotion and DOMA and would be serving Chick-fil-A sandwiches.

This was last year during the Chick-fil-A episode where homosexual activists were trying to destroy the business because the owner, Dan Cathy, said he believed in traditional marriage between a man and a woman and supported DOMA.

Until Friday, the soldier remained unidentified.

Todd Starnes with Fox News has now identified the soldier as Master Sgt. Nathan Sommers, a 25 year Army veteran and committed Christian based at Fort Meyer, which is located adjacent to Arlington Memorial Cemetery in Arlington, VA.

Sommers says the issue concerning the invitations to his celebration party was not the first time the military has reprimanded him for expressing his faith.

He says his "core beliefs are enough to mark him for prejudice."

Ret. Navy Commander John Bennet Wells is now representing Sommers in regard to the charges against him from the military.

I have linked the Fox story above. In it Starnes outlines a series of reprimands against the Master Sgt., including his anti-Obama bumper stickers on his personal car which read, "Political dissent is not racism," "NOBAMA" and "NOPE2012".

His superiors told him those stickers were "creating an atmosphere detrimental to morale and creating un- necessary workplace tension."

He was also told by his superiors not to read Mark Levin's book, "Ameritopia: The Unmaking Of America," which he had been seen doing, alone and backstage before a band concert. He was told to refrain from reading the book "while in uniform or within sight of anyone from the band."

He was, in a separate incident, reprimanded for reading David Limbaugh's book, " The Great Destroyer," and in yet another incident told not to read a book by Sean Hannity.

Sommers had also expressed his support for traditional marriage on a personal blog. He was further reprimanded for that as well.

Todd Starnes says, "Ron Crews, executive director of the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty, said stories like this are becoming commonplace in the military post-repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell."

“These stories are the ones that have not been told – about some of the more subtle ramifications of the repeal of the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy,” he said.

One service member received a severe reprimand for expressing his faith’s religious position about homosexuality in a personal religious blog.

A chaplain was relieved of his command over a military chapel because he could not allow same-sex weddings to take place in the chapel.

And a chaplain who asked senior military officers whether religious liberty would be protected in the wake of the repeal of the law against open homosexual behavior in the military was told to “get in line” or resign.

Crews said they are sharing these stories to let other service members know there is a place to get help. He said Chaplain Alliance publishes a religious liberty palm card – explaining constitutionally protected liberties to service members.

“If you believe your religious liberties have been violated ... we will see that you get the help that you need.”

And what about Sommers?

“We’re going to stand with this soldier who did nothing wrong,” Crews said. “There is nothing wrong in saying he wants to celebrate DOMA – which happens to be federal law."

So now, guess what has happened? After this story was published nationally, a public affairs spokesperson said Sommers did have the right to display a political sticker on his private vehicle. And the military released this preposterous statement:

“Accordingly, the Soldier was not prohibited from displaying a political bumper sticker. Instead, the Soldier’s supervisor discussed the appropriateness of the bumper stickers with him and potential perceptions of others in light of the regulatory guidance.”

“The Soldier is not, and never has been facing retribution and punishment from the military for having anti-Obama bumper stickers on his car, reading books written by conservative authors like Mark Levin and David Limbaugh, and serving Chick-fil-A sandwiches at his promotion party."

While Sec. of State John Kerry tells the world our diplomats are assuring that LGBT people all over the world are insured the freedom of expression and freedom of assembly and association---without fear of reprisal, people of Christian faith increasingly stand in the cross hairs of reprimand and reprisal. And ridicule.

Our "Pride" is misplaced.

Our "Prejudice" is increasing against people of Christian faith.

Light is Dark. Dark is Light.

Good is evil. Evil is good.

Truth is inverted.

God help us.
