Euthanizing Children Soon To Be Legal

After several months of testimony from doctors and so-called experts in medical ethics, the Belgium parliament is preparing to vote on whether doctors should be able to euthanize children.

Most say the law will be approved.

The country has gone through a process of incrementally relaxing laws on assisted suicide---which is also legal in Washington State and Oregon---with euthanasia now legal only for those 18 years old or older.

This new law will extend euthanasia to those under 18.

Under this new law, children may be euthanized if they (the child) requests it, their parents give consent and an expert psychologist deems the child to fully understand the implications of their decision.

Since euthanasia was legalized in 2002, Belgians have been euthanized for blindness, depression, anorexia nervosa and botched sex-change operations.

Many have said it would be okay for parents to euthanize their sick children without the child's consent.

The founder of March For Life in Brussels and law student, Michel De Keukelaerea says, "Children never choose to die. I don't believe a child under 18 who is sick and who is ill wants to die."

Who will give the suggestion to the child in the first place? A parent? The doctor?

A child can't possibly understand the implications of death, much less euthanasia.

If children would not choose death, and I believe that is true, they wouldn't without prompting, why would this law be necessary?

DeKeukelaere says the law is a "sort of revenge of these far left socialists socialists and liberal parties who want to show that Christianity in Belgium is finished."

The media and the far left in Belgium are sending the message to doctors and the public that if you oppose this bill, you are a bad doctor---a bad citizen---intolerant, bigoted, and you are discriminating against the child's rights.

Have we heard that message here regarding other far left agendas?

Those advocating for the law are saying "its safe," it's "completely controlled by doctors." We've heard that before as well.

These are the same arguments used to legalize euthanasia, or assisted suicide, in Washington and Oregon.

This is a poignant picture of how incrementalism works to change a culture.

Senator Ed Murray used this inch-by-inch tactic to redefine marriage in Washington. The Seattle Times celebrated his success, detailing how he, over a ten-year period, incrementally passed laws until finally marriage was redefined.

This method is at the heart of Cultural Marxism and cultural revolution. Saul Alinsky taught the doctrine and it is used in most every attempt to separate a culture from its Judeo Christian roots.

Incrementalism allows these destructive doctrines to rise on the backs of good and decent people who want to do the right thing---and not be seen by their friends and peers as bigoted, intolerant or unfair.

There is not a better illustration than that of the "Frog in the Kettle."

God help us.
