Marxism and the "Long March Through American Institutions"

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

Bob and Sarah Fisher were checking their daughter's homework last week when a social studies assignment caught their attention.

It criticized the United States for dropping the atomic bomb during World War II.

Fisher told Fox News, "Both our grandfathers were in World War II and this worksheet makes it seem as if they were the bad guys."

Julie West, while checking her son's textbook, "The Cultural Landscape: An Introduction To Human Geography" saw something that caught her attention and raised concern.

The textbook proposed this: "...if a Palestinian suicide bomber kills several dozen Israeli teenagers in a Jerusalem restaurant, is that an act of terrorism or wartime retaliation against Israel's government policies and army actions?"

These are not uncommon occurrences. What is driving the indoctrination in public education?

Obama To Planned Parenthood: "Thank You And God Bless You"

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
President Obama gave a 12-minute speech to Planned Parenthood's annual gala this past Friday.

The fact that a sitting president of the United States even gave a speech to Planned Parenthood is profoundly disappointing and telling. This is a first in the history of America.

Not only is his presence troubling, his words are even more so.

In conclusion, the President told Planned Parenthood, "Thank you and God bless you."

God bless you?

The President said those who are pro-life are trying to take the country back to the 1950's. Let's take a look at the 50's.

I also have a follow up story to Friday's Blog and radio comments regarding dependency in America that is almost unbelievable.

America: More Takers Than Makers

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years." Historian, Alexis de Tocqueville (Democracy In America)

The Wall Street Journal has reported that more Americans work for the government than in manufacturing, farming, fishing, forestry, mining and utilities---combined.

About half of all US households are receiving government benefit.

A record 8,733,461 workers are now on federal disability, continuing the trend for the past 20 years in number of workers actually employed and earning paychecks per worker who is not employed and is taking federal disability payments.

This week, we learned that states are now competing to sign up their citizens for federal food stamps.

We are becoming a dependant nation, growing more and more comfortable with the government taking care of us.

However, history tells us that dependency is the threshold to the total loss of freedoms---bondage.

How did we get here?

Can this trend be reversed? Or is it too late?

I'm talking more about this on the radio this morning live at 9 AM and rebroadcast at 7:30 PM, PDT.

You may listen live in Washington State at 9:00 a.m. or 7:30 p.m. on these stations or click here to listen on your computer or here via a free app for your phone.

Obama To Keynote Planned Parenthood Gala Tonight---Oooops, Can't Make It

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
Yesterday morning USA Today and other news sources were reporting that President Obama would be the keynote speaker for Planned Parenthood's annual gala tonight in Washington DC.

Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood said, "President Obama has done more that any other president in history for women's health and rights."

He certainly has done more to advance abortion than any president in the history of our nation.

The President affirmed again last week his unwavering support of abortion.

He said on NBC's Today Show, "What I can say is this: You know, I think President Bill Clinton said it pretty well when he said abortion should be safe, legal and rare."

Is killing fewer babies somehow more moral?

Planned Parenthood donated $15 million to President Obama's re-election campaign last year. You may recall Mitt Romney said he would defund Planned Parenthood if elected.

So friends are friends forever in the abortion industry, right?

Well yes, but the president needed them to cut him a little slack---like he needed from Russia last year.

By yesterday afternoon, things had changed.

Washington Pioneers Assisted Suicide Program At Hutch Cancer Center

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
As you likely remember, Washington State legalized assisted suicide a few years ago.

I personally spoke in a number of churches and traveled with the Christian Medical Association to encourage people to vote against it. Despite the efforts of many, the bill passed.

Since its legalization, assisted suicide has been making progress as an acceptable medical treatment and has now been integrated with the highly respected Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.

Clinical Psychiatry News is hailing the program as a "pioneering program that includes medically assisted suicide for competent, terminally ill adults treated at a cancer center in Seattle."

They are reporting this month, "It has been well accepted by patients, families and clinicians."

However, a close read of the program raises some serious concerns in the mind of anyone who embraces life and the sovereignty of God.

Boy Scouts Of America: They Cannot Not Serve Two Masters

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

As a private organization, the Boy Scouts of America has always held the official moral position that open homosexual behavior was incompatible with the code of scouting.

Years ago the state of New Jersey argued in a lawsuit against the BSA that their long standing policy violated public accommodation laws. The case went all the way to the Supreme Court. In 2000 the case, Boy Scouts of America v. Dale, was ruled in favor of the BSA. The Court said a private organization has a First Amendment right to express themselves through defining their membership criteria.

So the legal assault to redefine the Scouts failed.

However, the secular progressives, linked with the 4% who claim to be homosexual, decided to go with Plan B---attack their corporate funding.

And they have successfully done so.

Corporate sponsors, influenced by activists, have begun to cut off the money.

For example, in 2010 Intel gave at least $10,000 to the BSA, but by September of 2012, they announced they would stop their funding until the BSA lifted its ban on openly homosexual members. Merck, UPS, AT&T, Ernst and Young and other major corporations have followed Intel.

So in trying to accommodate both sides---serve two masters, BSA, with its new proposed policy change to be voted on in May, has become a profile in duplicity. A double minded entity, trying to be all things to all people.

It appears to be a snapshot of moral chaos.

Here's what they are proposing.

Killing Christians--The New Lions

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
It is well documented that during the early Christian era, the Romans did a big business in mass slaughter by and of animals.

It is also well documented that the Romans executed prisoners using animals, sentencing prisoners--ad bestias, "to the beasts."

The beasts included dogs, bears, boars and yes, lions.

During that time, thousands of Christians were executed because of their Christian beliefs. While it has been argued that Christians were not fed to the lions, there is a memorial at the Roman Coliseum in honor of those Christians who were killed by lions.

And Ignatius, the bishop of Antioch, wrote letters back to the Christians en route to his own execution, saying once he reached Rome he expected to be "thrown to the beasts." As it turned out, they killed him with a sword.

But how the Christians were actually killed is not my point. My point is that they were killed. And they were killed because of what they believed---they had identified with Christ and biblical truth.

A couple of thousand years later, the killing continues. In third world countries, Christians regularly give up their lives for their faith. I've been with those who have lost family members for the cause of Christ, in Africa and elsewhere.

Here in America we are more sophisticated. The killing events have moved from the Coliseum to the courtroom. And it is becoming a cultural event, replete with spectators and cheerleaders.

This killing is conducted with a sense of self righteousness and social justice. While there is an air of sport about it, there is equally an air of administering justice. Of righting wrongs. Of redefining what is right and wrong.

And the secular press is giving the spectators the play-by-play from the 'home team" point of view.

Here's how it works:

April 18, 1775: Another Attempt At Gun Control

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
This week's defeat of those trying to impose gun control sent the president into a tantrum. Joe Biden was said to be "sad" and Michael Bloomberg was apologetic.

Guns have long been associated with the very heritage of this country. Those who seek to "remake" this nation are understandably frustrated. They have a different vision for America---much like the British did in 1775.

Here's what happened last night in 1775.

"Marriage Equality" Includes Polygamy

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
We have said repeatedly over the past number of years that same-sex marriage will also give us polygamy.

Each time I have raised the issue, we have been mocked and ridiculed by those seeking to redefine marriage. Other more influential voices have agreed, with the same response.

Now a major voice in the homosexual community is calling for legalized polygamy. Because when you redefine marriage, there is little basis to deny legalizing polygamy.

How To "Really" Help Arlene's Flowers In Richland Washington

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
The ACLU and Attorney General Bob Ferguson have started the legal assault on Barronnelle Stutzman, the owner of Arlene's Flowers and Gifts in Richland, Washington because on March 1, she refused to cater flowers to a same-sex "wedding" in the Tri-Cities.

We talked about this incident both on our daily radio program and our daily blog.

This week I noticed that a couple of faith based organizations have begun raising funds on her behalf. While this seems, on the surface, to be commendable, time and experience tells me things are often not as they seem, particularly with certain organizations.

Yesterday I had a personal conversation with Barronnelle.

She shared her heart in regard to how she is responding to the suit filed by A/G Ferguson and to how people can really help her during this difficult time.

When America Looks Evil In The Face

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
"Before you were formed in the womb, I knew you." God.

Abortionist Dr. Kermitt Gosnell may best be characterized as a man with a pair of scissors in one hand, while the other is a clenched fist extended upward. He has been charged with the murder of 8 individuals---1 adult female, 7 babies.

While God knows these and the other 55-million babies who have been killed by the abortion industry, you and I will not know them, nor are we hearing much about the trial of those who killed these 7 children because the press is standing in the abortion clinic room assisting the doctor with his procedures.

The press is refusing to cover the murder trial of abortionist Dr. Kermitt Gosnell.

Local Philadelphia journalist J.D. Mullane said it all when she published this picture along with her column.

Not only is the press refusing to write about the trial, they are not even showing up to cover it.

Congressmen are now taking to the House floor in an attempt to force the press to cover this important news story.

RNC Says "No" To Chair Priebus And Redefining Marriage

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
The 168-member Republican National Committee said "no" last Friday to what many have seen as a push-back from the values the Republican Party has traditionally stood for---marriage and the sanctity of life.

A major reason tens of millions of Americans are members of the Republican Party in the first place.

In fact, the vote was a 168-0 "No."

Less than a month before, national chair Reince Priebus released his party's 98-page document that appraised the party's political liabilities as a attempt to "re-brand" the party regarding social issues---even to marginalizing them.

Gary Bauer, Tony Perkins and a few others wrote a letter to Priebus last week expressing their "great displeasure" with his assessment of the party.

More on this, but first a personal note:

Thank you for your kind words, prayers and support during my second and last knee replacement surgery this past week.

While I have not signed up for a marathon anytime soon, I can certainly now be fully engaged in the race to defend and advance traditional, biblical values in a culture that seems obsessed with destroying them.

While I have resumed publishing this daily blog, it will be a few days before we go back "live" on the "Straight Talk" radio program. We will continue to play re-runs a few more days.

Again thank you for your support and prayers during this time.

Here's what she actually said:

Catholics And Evangelicals Labeled "Extremist" By US Military

A US Army Reserve Equal Opportunity training brief describes "Evangelical Christianity" and "Catholicism" as examples of "religious extremism" according to the Archdiocese for the Military Services and Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty.

That's right, evangelical Christians and Catholics are listed right along side "extremist" groups and anti-government organizations in the US like the Klu Klux Klan and al Qaida.

What's going on with this?

Triumph Of Science Or Assault On Women---And Morality?

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
The ruling of a federal judge this past Friday is being hailed as a triumph of science over politics by some, and an attack on women, particularly young girls, and parental rights, by others.

A federal judge has ordered the USDA to make the morning after-"Plan B" birth control pill available over the counter, to anyone who asks for it, regardless of age.

The "Pill," referred to as an abortion pill by some, has only been available to women and girls over 16 years of age without a prescription. Now it will be available to all women and girls of any age, without prescription or parental consent.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommended last year the Plan B pill be made available to all women, regardless of age. They said it would "reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies in the U.S."

Teva Women's Health, Inc. had previously asked the FDA to make the drug available without prescription, to all women, regardless of age. Teva manufactures the Plan B pill.

But it was the Center for Reproductive Rights that had filed the lawsuit seeking to expand access of the pill to children.

The judge said the arguments in favor of restricting the availability of the pill were, "arbitrary, capricious and unreasonable."

What a judge sees as arbitrary, capricious and unreasonable, is seen by some, myself included, as morally debased, capricious or erratic, discriminatory toward young girls and an assault on parental rights. And deficient of common sense.

Here's why.

The Greatest Story Ever Told--Are We Telling It?

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
The Christian faith is the greatest story ever told. Our story is a story of love and forgiveness, a story of personal struggles--a story of triumph and one of tragedy.

It is a story of sin and righteous and a story obedience.

But most of all it is a story of redemption.

It is a story of how God loved people when they did not love Him. And how He continues to love people who do not love Him.

It's an amazing story of amazing grace.

Hollywood is recognizing how powerful this story is as upward of a hundred million people have already watched "The Bible" series that just finished airing on the History Channel.

And this morning, the world is fascinated by an archaeological discovery which appears to be the biblical city of Ur.

But are we telling our own story in an honest and complete way?

Far Left: "We Need News, Not More Spin"

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
The Los Angeles Times is up for sale.

The super rich Koch brothers are considering buying it.

The Koch brothers are very conservative.

The far left Daily Kos and other far left organizations and personalities are concerned. In fact so concerned that the Kos and the California based Courage Campaign Institute tried to buy an ad in the left leaning LA Times, expressing their concerns about bias in the news media.

The far left progressives want the news media to stay as it is. "Unbiased." Right.

These two groups went to place an ad in the LA Times that began with, "We Need News, Not More Spin".

The Times declined their ad and their money. Now the far left progressives are outraged.

While the influence of newspapers has diminished, along with revenues, they are still read by tens of millions of people across America.

It has been said, "People care about what newspapers tell them to care about." And generally, newspapers strongly advocate for the liberal agenda and secular causes, often undermining conservative values and the people who hold those values.

The wealthy, conservative Koch brothers are not the only ones interested in the LA Times and the Chicago Sun as well.

The story behind this story is both humorous and troubling. And you can't make this up.

WA State Abortion Bill Sentenced To Death

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

Washington State HB 1044, commonly referred to as the "Reproductive Parity Act," has been sentenced to death by Republican Randi Becker, Senate Health Care Committee chair.

The "Reproductive Parity Act" would mandate all insurance that pays for maternity benefits must also pay for abortions.

Democrat Senator Steve Hobbs had produced a letter this week which has 25 senators signed on in favor of the abortion mandate bill, which he says, will ensure its passage.

Apparently that won't matter.

Here's what happened.

President Obama's Pastor Problem Continues

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
First, candidate Barack Obama, who had been very comfortable in Rev. Jeremiah Wright's church in Chicago for 20 years, had to denounce his pastor's comments and worldview and leave the church to save his own candidacy.

Now, President Obama finds himself in a similar circumstance in his new church home.

While much of America celebrated God's love and forgiveness for our sins through the death and resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ this past Sunday, Rev. Luis Leon, the new pastor to the Obamas, lashed out at "The captains of the religious right," calling the leaders of the right racists and bigots.

I'm not sure whether this says more about the President and the people he chooses to associate with, the pastor himself or the profound moral divide that exists in America today.

Perhaps all three.

Here's what the pastor said to his congregation, including the President and what the pastor is telling America.

TIME Magazine: "Can Your Children Be Too Religious?"

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
Time Magazine, in a feature article, is suggesting your child can be too religious.

They are reporting that, "Therapists in private practice report that they are seeing children and teens across a wide range of faiths whose religious practice can be problematic."

"The amount of time they spend praying, or in other acts of spiritual practice is not so important," they say, as the "quality of this devotion, and whether it helps the children or instead isolates them and undermines their school work and relationships."

Their article raises some serious concerns because it's not published in isolation, but in sync with other articles and studies presently being published around this same issue.

Psychology and Psychiatry are weighing in more and more on religious faith and its relationship to mental health.

This not only relates to moral biblical values, but Second Amendment rights as well.
