Roe v. Wade--Abuse Of Discretion

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
Without any court presented factual evidence that would have been subject to cross examination, the U.S. Supreme Court legalized abortion on demand in America.

That was 40 years ago.

During those 40 years, that decision has facilitated and legalized the killing of unwanted, unborn--or partially born babies.

No facts were presented.

No evidence was presented.

But the case was based, for the most part, on a single claim: "Abortion is safer than childbirth."

The legal and judicial decision was made on the unsubstantiated statement, "Abortion is safer than childbirth," made by pro-abortion advocates.

Now all the records from the decision, except those of Chief Justice Warren Burger, have been released to the public.

Clarke D. Forsyth, an expert in the field, has analyzed them and written about the stunning lack of evidence presented to the justices who legalized abortion on demand.

NBC Revises The "Truth" About Obamacare

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

Yesterday morning I noticed a story by NBC that caught my attention.

I mentioned it on my live radio program, because it seemed to be "honest" and "truthful."

Somewhat transparent.

I told my audience I was surprised that NBC, who has given undying support to this President, would have published an article this truthful about the President and his health care scheme.

NBC reported that the President knew for 3 years that millions were going to lose their individual insurance when Obamacare was implemented.

In their story, NBC said, "President Obama has repeatedly assured Americans that after the Affordable Care Act became law, people who liked their health insurance would be able to keep it. But millions of Americans are getting or are about to get cancellation letters for their health insurance under Obamacare, and the Obama administration has known that for at least 3 years."

NBC said, "Four sources deeply involved in the Affordable Act tell NBC News that 50 to 75% of the 14 million consumers who buy their insurance individually can expect to get a 'cancellation' letter or the equivalent over the next year because their existing policies don't meet the standards of mandated by the new health care law" [Obamacare]

Then, late at night, the story was pulled, the link was changed thereby breaking the trail, and stealth edits were made to the piece. In particular, one key paragraph missing.

Campaign To End "Stigma" Of Abortion

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

Yesterday, pro-abortion groups launched an organized national effort to remove the "stigma" from abortion.

Their campaign features women telling "uplifting" stories about their abortions.

The campaign, called "1 in 3," is led by abortion advocates Deb Hauser with Advocates for Youth, Ilyse Hogue with NARAL and a number of other abortion advocate groups.

Interestingly not showing up on the leadership role was the name Planned Parenthood. They, of course, are the financial benefactors of increased abortions.

The other advocates would be the "unrelated" messengers.

The organizers will be handing out a book to those with whom they contact titled, "1 in 3: These Are Our Stories."

The focus of this undertaking is primarily directed at youth and campuses. And I noticed some interesting changes in the words they are using in regard to abortion.

Celebrities are joining the effort as it makes its way across the country.

The New "Black Box" Tax Plan

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

If you took a road trip this summer, you likely noticed America's roads are not so good. By most evaluations, they are in terrible repair---"crumbling," many say.

Ronald Reagan once said the 10 most terrifying words you will ever hear are, "Hello, I'm from the government. I'm here to help you."

"Government" has a plan to raise the money to fix the roads. "And," they say, "it's fair."

The solution to our crumbling roads? A little black box in every car.

It fits neatly by the dashboard.

Not only does the new "black box tax" fix our roads, but those who are advocating for it see a number of other "benefits" that can come from the black box.

A number of large cities and states are at various stages of pursuing this opportunity with interest.

One Northwest state is very, very interested.

US Military: "Evangelicalism And Conservatism = Extremism"

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

For months, the Obama-Hagel Pentagon has promised that reports of military trainers teaching troops that traditional Christian groups are extremists comparable to terrorists were isolated incidents by rogue instructors.

Now, an official Army document contains evidence to the contrary.

Fox News's Todd Starnes reported this week on a Ft. Hood briefing where reportedly soldiers were told that evangelical Christians and Tea Party supporters are a threat to the United States and are “tearing the nation apart.”

They were labeled extremists.

Soldiers were reportedly told that they could be charged with committing a military crime if they supported or donated to such organizations.

One way of evaluating candidates and issues is to see who supports the candidates and endorses the issues.

The following will be helpful for Washington State voters.

Euthanizing Children Soon To Be Legal

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
After several months of testimony from doctors and so-called experts in medical ethics, the Belgium parliament is preparing to vote on whether doctors should be able to euthanize children.

Most say the law will be approved.

The country has gone through a process of incrementally relaxing laws on assisted suicide---which is also legal in Washington State and Oregon---with euthanasia now legal only for those 18 years old or older.

This new law will extend euthanasia to those under 18.

How Did We Get Here?--How Do We get Out?

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
We are the nation that has led the world in the development and expansion of the Internet, technology, electronics, aviation, space travel---you name it. And yes, humanitarian acts of kindness and Christian charity.

Yet, now we can't make a government website work.

We have privately given hundreds of billions of dollars to charity to help the disadvantaged---whoever they were, wherever they lived. But our country continues to borrow money---even from those who wish our demise.

Yesterday, our national debt was $17,084,351,028,385.14. It would be more today.

In fact, our debt increases $2.63 billion per day.

That is $53, 911.53 for every citizen, including those born today.

All the while, our leadership is obsessed with redefining marriage and expanding abortion and calling it equality and healthcare.

Too many of our elected leaders continue to "kick the can" down the road on these issues, hoping to avoid addressing them in any real way for fear of adversely affecting their own career.

Those of us who love our children and grandchildren, and most of us do, stand at a historic crossroad.

Current conditions are demanding that we can no longer stick our heads in the socially accepted sand, hoping this monster will somehow go away by the time we come up for air.

How in the world did we get to this place? And how do we get out?

I have the basic answers. Not because of my wisdom, but because of someone's love for the human race. I have a leather bound copy of the answers. Let's look at the Truth. It will set us free.

"Merry Christmas" From The Missouri Legislature

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
A new Missouri law, which took effect last week, is causing quite a stir in the culture of "tolerance" and "inclusiveness."

The new law is pretty clear. It states:

"No state or local governmental entity, public building, public park, public school, or public setting or place shall ban or otherwise restrict the practice, mention, celebration, or discussion of any federal holiday."

The Legislature, forced to overturn Governor Jay Nixon's veto of the bill by a vote of 114 to 45, is now being accused of "thinking of Christmas" when they passed the law.

This law has implications beyond Missouri.

Gregory Lipper, a senior litigation counsel for Americans United for Separation of Church and State, says it is an "angerous law” that would open the door to constitutional violations.

“It could be read to allow public school teachers, while in the classroom, to reenact the virgin birth, preach the salvation of Christ, or press their students to convert to Christianity — all under the guise of celebrating Christmas,” said Mr. Lipper, whose group generally opposes the government promotion of religion.

Rep. Rick Brattin, a Republican from west central Missouri who sponsored the measure, said the legislation is just recognizing the fact that more than 90% of Americans celebrate Christmas.

“I’m all for protecting the rights of minorities, but we should also protect the rights of those in the majority as well,” Rep. Brattin said. “This bill doesn’t require anybody to celebrate anything.”

The law took affect on October 11.

Government Kiss of Death to Christian Citizens?

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
Why does the government---federal and too often local, seem to be trying to give Christianity the "kiss of death?"

The Catholic Church is suing the Obama administration, including Kathleen Sebielus, HHS Secretary, for being engaged in a "conscious political strategy to marginalize and delegitimize religious views on contraception by holding them up for ridicule on the national stage."

A city has refused the last wish of a local Baptist pastor's wife to have her cemetery marker engraved with an "ichthys," an early Christian fish symbol, and the name of "Jesus" inscribed in it, as a remembrance of her love for the Lord.

The city initially said no and compared it to a "swastika."

These are not isolated incidences. Unfortunately, this fits a pattern we find in local government, public education and in the federal government. The details are below.

But first I want to make you aware of a new book that has just been released titled, "Home For Christmas," available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and others. It is in e-Book format with print to follow next week.

The book is written by Seattle area resident Stephanie Wilson.

She is a native of the Northwest, born in Bellevue. She has produced television programs for CBS affiliates that were syndicated nationally. She has written and produced a television series that won a national Angel Award for excellence in the media.

In addition, she has written news copy for a local CBS affiliate and directed marketing programs for successful humanitarian organizations.

Stephanie earned her degree from Seattle Pacific University in history and in communications.

She and her husband have one son.

The novel storyline is based in Seattle.

For a quick overview, click here.

This is Wilson's second novel. Her first, "Whispers Of The Heart," also based in the Northwest, was read widely here and across the country.

Stephanie is a devout Christian and contributes a great deal of time and talent to Faith and Freedom.

I strongly recommend her book. Its a great read as we move toward Christmas.

Is government trying to deliver a kiss of death to all who do not embrace the current far left secular agenda?

It seems so.

Graham also observed why politicians are so willing to continue to spend money the country doesn't have---continuing to run up the deficit.

And he offers a solution. One that Senate Chaplain Barry Black is also calling for.

Republican Representative: "We Have To Go After Cruz By Name"

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
Republican Representative Peter King, R-NY, said this week, "We have to anticipate Ted Cruz is going to try to do this again. Ted Cruz and 30 or 40 people in the House. We have to start going after him by name. I've been doing it all along. I wish I had more company on it."

People supposedly in the same camp attacking their own. Not a new concept, but always disturbing.

If Mr. King has been attacking Mr. Cruz all along, by name, his results have not been stellar.

Cruz is on the rise among conservatives, because he is leading. And he actually believes in something.

Leadership is always lonely---and it always carries a personal cost. Leadership is not "risk free."

Perhaps this is why some---pastors and politicians, sometimes choose not to lead on the most important moral issues. It can be shattering to a comfort zone.

Leaders generally expect those on the other side to attempt to bring them down; it stings when those who claim to be on the same side attempt to do so. I've been there.

King told the press, "We just can't have Republicans or Ted Cruz second guessing the final outcome of this current stalemate."

Based on recent performances by the Party, unfortunately one doesn't need to second guess the outcome. It's been very consistent.

Leadership that is more pragmatic than principled, but claiming to be principled, isn't winning. And it won't win in the future.

In 2012, 54% of Republicans believed their Party had a plan. This week, a Rasmuessen survey found that only 34% of likely GOP voters believe the Party has a plan. That's 20 points down in 12 months.

It isn't merely the lack of a plan that is so disturbing, it's the lack of leadership.

And if you think Mr. King is trying to bully Cruz for showing some leadership, look what a Republican columnist is saying in the Washington Post.

NSA Collecting 500,000 Email Contact Lists Daily

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
The National Security Agency has been secretly harvesting hundreds of millions of contact lists from personal e-mail and instant messaging accounts around the world, many of them belonging to Americans.

This, after president Obama promised the nation this past June that the government is not spying on American citizens.

The Washington Post was the first to break this story late yesterday afternoon.

The revelation is chilling to say the least.

During a single day last year, the NSA’s Special Source Operations branch collected 444,743 e-mail address books from Yahoo, 105,068 from Hotmail, 82,857 from Facebook, 33,697 from Gmail and 22,881 from unspecified other providers.

Here's how they're doing it while claiming not to be violating any U.S. law.

"Re-instituting Slavery" While Killing America

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
"Obamacare is the worst thing that's happened to this nation since slavery," Dr. Ben Carson said this past weekend.

Former professor of Oncology and director of pediatric neuro-surgery at Johns Hopkins University, Carson told the Values Summit meeting this weekend that Obamacare "is slavery in a way because it's making us subservient to the government." And "it was never about health care; its about control."

Carson, an African American and committed Christian, said of our current cultural state, "The only way to be free is to be brave."

The doctor also drew a parallel between Obamacare and socialized medicine, underlining the importance of Obamacare and government controlled healthcare to the radical left's agenda for America.

His words reminded me of Patrick Henry's famous statement, "When a nation forgets God, tyrants forge their chains."

As America continues to stagger down a path of stripping God from our public life, tyrants are indeed forging our chains.

And the new "truth" of so-called tolerance linked to political correctness is choking our culture.

Bill O'Reilly has sold millions of books with the "Killing" titles---"Killing Kennedy," "Killing Lincoln" and now "Killing Jesus".

Perhaps an equally poignant title could be, "Killing America."

Dr. Carson drew a parallel between Obamacare and socialism noting that government controlled medicine is an important building block for socialism. He also noted that what we are seeing is directly from the Saul Alinsky playbook.

And now the IRS is auditing him.

"Is the Handwriting on the Wall?"

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
We often use the phrase, not remembering or knowing its origin.

Last Friday, California's Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law legislation that will allow children to have 3 or more legal parents.

State Senate Bill 274, which legalizes multiple parents, is said to be a bill that will spread the expenses and care of a child around to more people, thus stabilizing the child's life.

Really?

It is actually a law hatched up to assist homosexuals. It's not about the child.

Is the handwriting on the wall regarding the family structure in America?

Earlier this year, Texas State Senator Wendy Davis burst into the media spotlight and favor as a result of her filibustering a ban on abortions at 20 weeks. During her filibuster, she said her stand for abortion is "sacred ground." Nancy Pelosi has also referred to the right to abortion as "sacred ground."

Davis now says she may run for Governor of Texas.

Yesterday I wrote about the pastor of one of America's most prominent churches telling his congregation last Sunday that not affirming homosexual behavior is sin.

Is there a message emerging? Is there handwriting on the wall? If so, what does it say?

And what is the origin of this phrase?

National Cathedral Pastor - Not Affirming Homosexuality is Sin

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
In one of America's most well known churches, most prominent because of its location in Washington DC, the list of U.S. leaders who have attended over the past 100 years and the weddings and memorials that have been held there, Rev. Gary Hall, a pastor at National Cathedral, gave a sermon last Sunday that characterizes the cultural chaos and spiritual deception of our times.

While the church website presents it as a place for unity, the pastor's sermon last Sunday was fraught with division and deception.

The church has recently announced they will begin conducting same-sex "marriage" ceremonies.

He told the congregation, "In its wisdom, the church came to its senses and labeled racism and sexism as sinful."

Of course racism is sin. Hating anyone is sin.

Sexism means prejudice based on a belief that one gender (male or female) is superior to the other. The New Testament teaches that male and female are different and complimentary to one another. They complete one another. The ultimate expression of this is found in the marriage covenant between one man and one woman. To believe otherwise is contradictory to Scriptural teaching.

"And now," the pastor said, "we find ourselves at the last barrier---call that barrier homophobia, call it heterosexism. Both," he says, "are sin."

Palin Vs. "Moderate GOP Establishment "

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

The Daily Beast published a feature article yesterday titled, "Seven Habits of Highly Ineffective Political Parties."

They give 7 reasons why the Republican Party continues to lose elections, all supporting the idea that the Party is not "moderate" enough.

Sarah Palin has given a stinging response and is defining the GOP as being at a crossroads and why the Republican elitists are in a panic.

The Daily Beast article and Palin's response is the most defining narrative I've seen on the heart of issue.

The secular progressive agenda of the Democratic Party is pretty well defined---fiscally and socially.

The GOP is not so well defined any more. The platform is fiscally conservative, and it affirms a traditional, biblical view on social issues, however, the actions of some in leadership do not reflect the platform. In fact, in many cases on the issues of abortion and so-called homosexual "marriage," too many Republican leaders stand against the very platform they claim to support.

My interest in all this transcends the politics of it. My interest and deep concerns relate to the culture and the stewardship of the freedom God has given us. And to what we will pass on to our children and grandchildren.

Let's look at what the Beast says and at Palin's response.

How Many Signed Up For Obamacare? "That's The Wrong Question"

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

Treasury Secretary Jacob "Jack" Lew is being asked again and again how many people signed up for Obamacare last week.

Lew refuses to answer the question.

Chris Wallace at Fox News was one of several asking.

After asking a couple of times, and Lew changing the subject, Wallace said, "How many actually signed up, sir?"

Lew: "You know they have six months to sign up. This is a big decision. We never..."

Wallace: "How many signed up?"

Lew: "I don't have the exact number, but the question isn't how many...the question..."

Wallace: "Do you have any number, because the government has refused to tell us how many?"

Lew: "It's the wrong question. It's the wrong question."

Is there a right question? And if not, why not?

After all, Obamacare is a major shift toward a quasi attempt at socialism, a negative impact on the American economy affecting one-sixth of it, a massive erosion of the world's best medical system and a program that a majority of American people now don't want and can't afford. It is also becoming clear that Obamacare will not deliver anything close to what has been promised.

Shouldn't there be a right question?

The Press And The President Crying Wolf

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

Aesop's Fable tells of a shepherd boy who repeatedly tricked the nearby villagers into believing a wolf was about to destroy the flock of sheep, then learned that the tactic often doesn't have a good outcome--- eventually people no longer believe him. No matter what he says.

We can fill in the blanks on that outcome.

Aesop's Fable parallels a statement by Aristotle where the sage asked what those who tell lies gain by it.

The answer was, "When they speak the truth, they are not believed."

I don't know if a time will come when this administration and its complicit press will have a need to tell the truth, but should it occur, it may be a tough sell to a good number of the American public.

In spite of the "wall of separation" the media has created between what is actually happening in our country and what they want you to believe is happening, people are beginning to awaken and discover "Yes We Can" and "Forward" just may not be the solution for where our country stands today.

Yesterday on ABC's "This week," Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner seemingly took a very firm stand to the badgering of George Stephanopoulos. He said "no deal" in capitulating to the bullying of President Obama and the president's refusal to even have a conversation about the so-called government "shut down" and the debt ceiling being raised. And he refuses to even discuss Obamacare, which a growing number of Americans now don't want and can't afford.

Boehner admitted his present position was not his original position on how to address these issues.

May John Boehner skip any midweek nap and remain as awake to the issues and a majority of the American people as he seemed to be yesterday.

But Speaker Boehner isn't the only awakening.

The attempted exploitation of this chaos is causing many Americans to have their own personal awakening.

What does a faux wolf look like?

And what response do those who create faux wolves hope for among those whom they fool?

Religious Left Calling Gov't. Shut-Down "Anti-Biblical." Is It?

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

Jim Wallis and other left to far left religious leaders are calling for the government to reopen, because, they say, to shut it down is "anti-biblical."

Wallis and other Jewish and Muslim leaders have sent a letter to the President asking that the government be reopened immediately.

Jim Wallis, founder of Sojourners, a social justice advocacy organization, has joined about 33 others of like mind in criticizing those who have, in their mind, caused the shut down (Republicans and conservatives), asking the administration to re-open it quickly.

Is this so-called shut down anti-biblical?

If so, why?

It all depends on how you view the role of government---and biblical Christianity.

Left to far left religious leaders almost always advocate for bigger government---more handouts, more intervention by government, more regulations---creating more public dependency on government.

Does the Bible actually support that position? Is that what Romans 13 is teaching?

Let's take a closer look at what Scripture actually says about government and what biblical history reveals.

WW II Veterans Storm the "Barrycades" at DC Memorial

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

Hours after the so-called government shut-down, park police tried to block access to the WW II Memorial, which is basically a landscape feature in a public park---not the park itself.

Were they protecting it from terrorists? Or vandals?

Not exactly. A group of World War II veterans had been flown in to Washington DC this week to visit the Memorial.

The privately funded "Honor Flights" program has been doing this for some time, giving WW II vets a chance to visit the memorial in their lifetime. Most of them have never seen it and are in their late 80's or 90's.

For many of them, it's a last chance to see an expression of appreciation for their service to their country. A thank you for defending freedom in the great world war.

The visit to the memorial had been on the calendar for some time---it wasn't spontaneous or unexpected, however, they were nonetheless barred from approaching the monument.

Now we're hearing what the administration did in the early morning hours on the day of their visit.

Dan Savage "Duping Christians"

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
I mentioned yesterday in this column that Seattle's Dan Savage, a radical activist homosexual, has been awarded the "Emperor Has No Clothes Award" by the atheist Freedom From Religion Foundation.

Their reason for awarding him was "his outspoken criticism of religion" and "his work with the anti-bullying campaign, 'It Gets Better'---an affirming outreach to youth who practice homosexual behavior."

Savage is indeed critical of religion---especially Christianity, and he does indeed champion anti-bullying.

At least in word, if not in deed.

Earlier this year at a conference in Seattle---attended by 3,000 high school kids and sponsored by The National Scholastic Press Association, featured speaker Dan Savage bashed the Bible relentlessly and verbally assaulted the Christian kids in attendance, causing many of the Christians to walk out during his speech.

Hardly what you would expect from the champion of anti-bullying.

He later offered an apology that really was not one.

But how does receiving this distinguished atheist award square up with Savage's latest project "Not All Like That" (NALT), in which he has paired up with "Christians" to launch NALT, using testimonies by Christians to affirm homosexual behavior and assure kids and others that all Christians are not like those who believe homosexual behavior is sin.

And isn't there even a bit of conflict between the belief of atheists and far left Christians?

Wayne Besen, head of the ministry Truth Wins Out and involved with Savage in the NALT project says of the atheist award, "It's a blessing."

Dan Barker's Journey From Evangelicalism To Atheism

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
Many readers are asking for a list of how senators voted to restore Obamacare. Here is a link to the news story: "25 Senators Vote To Give Reid Cloture, Allowing Simple Majority To Restore Obamacare Funding."

Dan Barker is the co-founder of America's largest atheist organization.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation has 20,000 active members and claims to be the largest such organization in America.

The organization is very well funded and very active.

They continually work to strip every vestige of God and religion---particularly Christianity, from the public square of America, all under the guise of "separation of church and state."

Nearly every lawsuit filed challenging an individual's right to religious expression is filed by this organization.

It wasn't always like that for Dan Barker.

Barker was once a Bible believing, conservative, evangelical evangelist, sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ from church to church.

In fact he wrote a Christian musical "Mary Had A Little Lamb" to assist churches in sharing the story of the birth of Jesus.

He still receives royalty checks from the sales of the musical.

But things have changed for Rev. Barker.

He says "it wasn't overnight"---it was a process.

Now he no longer works to lead people to Jesus Christ, but instead wages legal battles against perceived conflicts between church and state.

Much can be taken from Barker's "process."
