Tuberculosis Spreading In Immigration Camps? Congressman Barred From Entering

Why was a US Congressman barred from entering a federal detention camp for illegal immigrants---mostly teenagers, in a state he has been elected to represent?

While we celebrated our freedom and Independence from the King of England, our government refused to allow a representative elected by the people to visit a detention center where thousands of kids are being held and processed in his own state.

It wasn't surprising that illegals and amnesty activists were carrying signs this weekend telling the white guys in Murrieta, Texas to "Go Back To Europe," but this is too much.

Is our government so caught up in removing our borders in the remaking of America that they are once again defying the laws of the land?

Or are they once again trying to hide something. Another cover up?

Are the thousands of illegal immigrant kids housed in detention facilities happy and fed, as HHS is telling us, or are the kids living in disease infested compounds shrouded in secrecy?

Something is very, very wrong in the land of the free.

I wasn't surprised when I saw the signs telling those who believe in borders and the order of law to "Go Back To Europe," but the episode regarding the Congressman was a bit surprising.

And what are the health conditions in these detention facilities where thousands and thousands of people, mostly kids are being held?

Is this why they barred the Congressman from a first hand observation?

Representative Jim Bridenstine (R-Okla.) was denied access to a federal immigration facility in his home state of Oklahoma last week. Now he says he is going to try again to visit the 1100 Central American children presently held at Fort Sill in his state.

He told the Department of Health and Human Services which runs the center that he plans to make another unannounced visit because "the tragedy that is occurring requires unfettered access."

He said, "I will bring my staff, interpreters and legal counsel" in a letter he wrote to HHS on Sunday the 5th.

Bridenstine said "his recurring" visits may include other members of Congress...and "responsible journalists" to share the stories with the American people.

In his letter he called it "unacceptable" that a representative of the people be limited to "preplanned showcase visits" to immigration facilities.

He said, "Just as foster parents in the State of Oklahoma are subject to unannounced visits by the Oklahoma Department of Health and Human Services, federal representatives of the people should be able to access UAC facilities at times of their choosing."

Why is HHS so protective, barring even a US Congressman from looking in?

One reason is likely an attempt to cover for the miserably failed immigration policies of this administration.

However, reports are surfacing yesterday and today that an extension of that attempt to hide the facts may be that Tuberculosis may be spreading through the camps and the thousands of kids detained there.

The Associated Press is reporting that there may be a couple, three maybe, cases of TB reported and this is not unusual and is not reason for concern.

The agencies contracted to work with the federal government are confirming nothing out of the ordinary---119 kids with lice, 22 with scabies, 1 with H1N1 Flu, fever, headaches, etc.

Kind of like a big happy summer camp.

However, a number of sources who work with the kids are telling Fox News that is not the case.

Todd Starnes says people he is talking with who are actually working with the kids are telling a very different story and that the government is covering up what is actually happening.

Starnes says one of his sources said, "The amount of tuberculosis is astonishing" and "the nurses are telling us the kids are really sick. The tuberculosis is definitely there."

Dr. Marc Siegel, a professor of medicine at New York University's Langone Medical Center, told Fox tuberculosis appears to be spreading through several counties in southern Texas as well. He says some counties are reporting twice as many cases as normal.

Starnes told the nurses working with the kids what the HHS is saying and what AP is reporting. The health care workers said, "They are lying."

One nurse told Starnes, "We treated that many kids with lice on a given day. We would put 20 kids in front of us---10 in each row. You could see the bugs crawling through the hair."

Another staff worker said it is like working in a giant emergency room.

In two camps, one at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, the other at Fort Sill in Oklahoma more than 7000 kids, mostly teenagers, are either being held in detention or have been processed through the facilities and are now in communities across the country. And many will likely be in public classrooms come September.

One nurse told Starnes, "Lice and scabies are fixable. TB is the real problem."

Today, it is impossible to know the full extent of the communicable diseases that have come and are coming across the border.

Nurses and care givers are telling Fox News they've been told to keep their mouths shut.

They say those caught divulging information are subject to immediate dismissal.

And they told Starnes they were told they "could be arrested."

Why would Oklahoma Rep. Jim Bridenstein be barred from access?

It's becoming pretty clear. This story is developing, I'm certain more will come out today and in the following days.

Patrick Henry didn't think much of a government that operates in the shadows of secrecy.

He said, "The liberties of a people never were, nor ever will be, secure, when the transactions of their rulers may be concealed from them."
