When Putin Met President Reagan

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

Twenty six years ago, President Ronald Reagan met Valdimer Putin on a street in Moscow.

Guess what Putin was doing?

Reagan also spoke to the students at Moscow State University.

His message to them is a message that students on American campuses should hear today---but the speaker would likely be uninvited because of the content of the message.

As you read, you will see an amazing picture of a young Putin observing Reagan on the streets of Moscow, with an explanation of the circumstances.

We will also glance at Reagan's speech and its result.

Seattle Lawyer: "Presumptive Liability May Keep People Safer"

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
A Seattle lawyer believes presuming people to be guilty until proven innocent may keep people safer.

Lawyer Bob Anderton is suggesting the city and the state put aside "Ei incumbit probatio gui dieit, non qui negat," Latin for innocent until proven guilty, in favor of the Napoleonic Code or "guilty until proven innocent."

Anderton says, "Most of the European Union already has this presumption established, and last year it was considered in the United Kingdom as well."

Isn't this a radical departure from the established legal system in America?

Isn't it only fair to presume people innocent until proven guilty?

Anderton says, "Not necessarily."

Teacher To Student: "Close That Bible"

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

A 5th grade teacher not only told a student to close his Bible, but called him up in front of the class to place a call to the student's father, even though the 5th grader had been reading it during a designated "free reading time."

What about the First Amendment?

Liberty Institute has addressed the school's infringement on the student's First Amendment rights.

However, Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is warning the American people that the senate will be voting on Senate Joint Resolution 19 which will amend the First Amendment and significantly undermine freedom of speech and religious liberty.

Cruz says 41 Democratic Senators are co-sponsoring the amendment, adding these are "perilous, perilous times."

Franklin Graham To Pastors: "God Hates Cowards"

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

Franklin Graham told a large gathering of pastors at the Watchman On The Wall National Briefing last Thursday to "address controversial issues from the pulpit."

He told the pastors, "God hates cowards."

His comments were based on Revelation 21:8 where God lists eight groups of people who will be "in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."

Alan Robertson, one of the sons of "Duck Dynasty" patriarch Phil Robertson, a pastor himself, told the pastors they must promote Christian values in the wider culture---within and outside their churches.

How were these messages received by the pastors?

Memorial Day--A Time For Heroes

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
Nancy Sullivan Geng remembers how she leaned against an oak at the side of the road, wishing she were invisible---keeping her distance from her parents who were sitting in lawn chairs while her younger siblings were running around having fun.

She remembers she hoped none of her friends would see her there.

God forbid her friends would see her and her family waving the little flags her mom had bought for 10 cents at the Ben Franklin store.

At 16, Nancy was too old for all that and definitely too cool for the small town parade.

She would have rather been at the lake, but that was not an option for her or her family. The Memorial Day festivities were mandatory for her family, and they did the same thing every year.

But why?

A long walk down the hall to her grandmother's bedroom would change this 16-year old's life forever.

Ronald Reagan: "A Trial Of Spiritual Resolve..."

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

"From the Nazis to the Stalinists, tyrants have always started out supporting free speech, and why is easy to understand."

"Speech is vital for the realization of their goals of command, control, and confiscation."

"Basic to their agenda are the tools of indoctrination, propagandizing and proslytization. Once they gain power, as leftists have at many universities, free speech becomes a liability and must be suppressed."

Walter Williams continues in his article, "America's Budding Tyrants," with an overview of how so-called "free speech" isn't free anymore and under the guise of "free speech," radical, secular progressives are heard on college campuses and elsewhere while conservatives and Christians are silenced.

Williams says much of it is our fault for continuing to support, with both our tax dollars and in the case of private universities, our donations. Even some Christian universities have fallen under the spell of progressive ideas, Williams says.

The American Pastors Network agrees, but says a part of the blame also rests in the pulpit in American churches.

Multnomah Publishers Deceive Christian Community

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

Multnomah Publishers, a long trusted, well known name in Christian publishing has been forced to resign from its association with the National Religious Broadcasters Evangelical community over its roll in the publication of Matthew Vines' book, God And The Gay Christian: The Biblical Case in Support of Same-Sex Relationships.

Multnomah Bible College was founded by Dr. John G. Mitchell, Dr. Willard Aldrich and other godly men in 1936-37. It was later renamed Multnomah University.

Multnomah Publishers was founded as a part of this ministry some years later.

Multnomah Publishers was purchased in 2006 by a publishing conglomerate and is no longer associated with Multnomah University. Here are the details of the sale.

Over the years the publisher has become a trusted name in the Christian community, publishing books by Chuck Colson, Charles Swindoll, Randy Alcorn, Kay Arthur, Dr. David Jeremiah and many others.

It has now become apparent that current Multnomah leadership is attempting to use this trust and reputation to advance their new imprint "Convergent Books."

This is a purposeful attempt to mislead the Christian public while financially benefiting from publishing books that stand in direct opposition to biblical teaching and the beliefs held by evangelicals.

Matt Barber, a Christian lawyer, vice president with Liberty Council, and founder of BarbedWire.com says this:

Homosexual Judge Strikes Down The Will Of The People In Oregon

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

One Homosexual Judge struck down the will of the people yesterday in Oregon declaring the ban of so-called same-sex "marriage" unconstitutional.

A majority vote of Oregon citizens 10 years ago was believed to have protected marriage from the predatory advances of the agenda to redefine marriage.

US District Judge Michael McShane issued his ruling and a homily on morality yesterday, telling people to fear not, "this is not a slippery slope" as some fear "that will have no moral boundaries."

He said, "Generations of Americans, my own included, were raised in a world in which homosexuality was believed to be a moral perversion, a mental disorder, or a mortal sin," he wrote. "I remember that one of the more popular playground games of my childhood was called 'smear the queer' and it was played with great zeal and without a moment's thought to political correctness."

The judge and the government are now giving considerable thought to political correctness, while wrapping it in a cloak of morality.

He continued with this moral instruction:

Woman Will Not Renounce Her Christian Faith--Sentenced To Death

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
International outrage is growing over the death sentence a Sudanese judge ordered for a pregnant wife of an American citizen---all because she refuses to renounce her Christian faith.

The Christian mother, who is pregnant with their second child, has also been sentenced to 100 lashes after the child is born, before she is hanged to death.

The charges are "zena"---Arabic for illegitimate sex in having relations with her husband.

She is charged with both adultery and apostasy.

Since being charged and offered the option of freedom for renouncing her Christian faith, she has remained steadfast in saying she will not renounce her faith in Jesus Christ.

On Thursday the judge ruled, "The court has sentenced you to be hanged till you are dead."

The world, including the U.S., is expressing outrage, yet some are wondering if there are not parallels of persecution in our own country.

More Prayer In The Public Square

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
Last week the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that its okay to pray at the beginning of each city council meeting in Greece, New York.

We suggested this could be the beginning of something good. And it was.

Now Commissioners of a North Carolina county are asking a federal judge to overturn a previous ruling that prohibited them from sectarian prayer before their local government meetings.

The ACLU is angry and will fight the request, however, the Greece, NY ruling will certainly influence this request and others that will follow.

This is the beginning of more prayer in the public square.

Defeating Evil With A Hashtag

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

All of our hearts have been touched by the plight of the 276 Nigerian girls who have been kidnapped by Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram.

A video of the girls was released a few days ago showing the young Christian girls dressed in Muslim garb, with a couple of the girls explaining why they have converted from Christianity to Islam.

It is expected the girls will be forced to "marry" the terrorists or be sold into sex slavery unless they are rescued.

I am certain reasonable minds are working behind the scenes developing a plan to rescue these girls---at least we all want to believe they are.

Some of the girls being held hostage have sent Twitter messages, or hashtag messages.

A number of secular progressive women in Congress sent #messages in return calling for the girls release.

However, this week our First Lady sent her own message to the terrorists.

With a sad face she is pictured holding a sign that says, "#BringBackOurGirls."

There was a response from the terrorists.

A picture emerged of Boko Haram's leader, Abubakan Shekau, holding a machine gun in one hand and a piece of paper in the other.

The paper carried a message to our First Lady and the other far left secular progressive Tweeters in Congress.

Harvard Cancels Satanic "Black Mass"--A Sign Of The Times?

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
Harvard has canceled the Satanic Black Mass that had been scheduled on campus following stronger than expected opposition.

Could this be one more indication that the public is beginning to see the hypocrisy of the far left progressive movement and are growing weary of it?

The hypocrisy is becoming more and more visible as homosexual and abortion activists and anti-Christian activists continue in their arrogance and self assurance, labeling all who disagree with their positions as haters and bigots, while they themselves practice hate and bigotry as a virtue.

They are in denial. It's like declaring Bill Gates is poor.

Harvard was not prepared for the considerable backlash they received after the public became aware that a "Black Mass" was scheduled on campus. The sponsoring club tried to explain that the event was only a "reenactment" of a Black Mass, not a real Black Mass.

People weren't buying it.

The Harvard Crimson said Monday they were now "moving the mass off campus and it would be held at the Middle East night club in Central Square at 9 PM.

The owner of the Middle East club said, "Oh no you don't" and refused to allow them to do the pretend black mass at his place.

The Crimson is now reporting that they finally found a place for the reenactment Black Mass on the second floor of the Hong Kong Restaurant. The owner told some news media he didn't even know what was happening on the second floor.

I personally believe this is one more indication many in the public are growing weary of the hypocrisy of the secular progressive activists.

The New Lion's Den

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
Recently I remembered an article I had read last fall titled, "Christians Are Being Thrown To The Lions Again."

The article was attempting to get the attention of the West and alert us that Christians in the Middle East are routinely killed for being Christian. The journalist said the subject is being "avoided in the secular, skeptical West with taken-for-granted religious freedoms."

I believe the West is awakening to the fact that our religious freedoms should no longer be "taken-for-granted."

Studies by the think tank Civitas have found that about 200 million Christians, or about 10% of Christians worldwide are "socially disadvantaged, harassed or actively oppressed for their beliefs, and are targeted more than any other body of believers."

Barbarism, often by militant Muslims, is generally the tool of choice used to dispose of infidels in the Middle East, Africa and Asia, but in the West the secular progressives take a different approach--- the tools are different.

They are more subtle. More nuanced.

In the West, particularly in America, the "New Lion's Den" functions through a chain of orchestrated events:

Caricaturization to Marginalization to Villification to Villainization to Criminalization to Elimination.

"If Our Faith Costs Us A TV Show, Then So Be It"

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

Entertainment Weekly was the first to announce that HGTV, the 7th most watched cable TV channel in the country, was "dropping their home improvement series pilot, 'Flip It Forward'."

HGTV had very quietly announced on Facebook and Twitter they had decided not to do the show.

Initially, HGTV had jumped at the opportunity to have the two siblings, David and Jason Beham, do the show which had the two brothers helping people buy homes who would have never been able to have their own home otherwise.

The Benham brothers have been very successful in buying homes, fixing them up and reselling them.

The project had progressed to where the Benham brothers have already filmed several episodes in preparation for the series.

What happened? It seemed like a perfect fit for HGTV.

Entertainment Weekly speculates that it's because "there are reports that the brothers are anti-gay, anti-choice extremists."

EW was referring to a "hit piece" attack on the Benham brothers--- and their father, by the far left anti-Christian organization "Right Wing Watch."

This is a classic battle between "good" and "evil"---Christian beliefs and those of the secular progressive far left.

You'll be interested to know more about the Benham brothers, their father and the Right Wing Watch organization---those who protect America from biblical Christians.

Evangelical College Controversy: "Were Adam And Eve Real People?"

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
"Student dissent is heating up in a controversy over beliefs about Adam and Eve," writes the Associated Press.

Ironically, the evangelical college where the controversy is playing out was named after William Jennings Byran, the politician who opposed the teaching of evolution in the famous 1925 Scopes Trial.

Students and faculty are embroiled in the controversy, with students petitioning to remove the president and change the school's statement of faith, some professors leaving the school refusing to teach unless the statement is changed, the president and his board standing firm, while the press fans the flames of controversy.

At the tip of the spear? Were Adam and Eve real people?

Or more specifically, biblical Creationism.

NBA Coach Fired for His Faith?

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

How much does it cost to follow Jesus Christ---to be a true biblical Christian?

Christians are regularly slaughtered in various countries around the world, but in America the "slaughter" is different, more nuanced and not physical. Often professional.

We should always pray for persecuted Christians around the world, including those here in America.

We should also be informed as to how it works in this "land of religious freedom."

It happens often, more than we know and it usually is not out in the light of day, but is couched in the shadows as something other than what it really is.

Look what happened to a high profile National Basketball Association coach this week.

New Climate Change Assessment: Crises Or Opportunity?

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
The new Climate Change Assessment was handed out yesterday at the White House where President Obama had gathered TV meteorologists to be sure they understand the talking points on the current climate crises.

They will return to their communities to inform the folks of the findings of the new climate assessment. And to help advance the White House "Green" agenda.

Those findings include that we are at a crises stage and climate change effects "are expected to become increasingly disruptive across this nation throughout this century and beyond."

The report says, "Climate change, once considered an issue for a distant future, has moved firmly into the present" revealing that "corn producers in Iowa, oyster growers in Washington State and maple syrup producers in Vermont are all observing climate change-related changes that are outside recent experiences."

Katharine Hayhoe, a Texas Tech University climate change scientist and co-author of the assessment, says the fight to save the climate is like a boxing match. She says, "We're being hit hard, we're holding steady, and we're getting hit in the jaw. We're starting to recover from one punch, and another punch comes."

Wow!

She fails to mention that we all are about to get hit in the wallet with a sucker punch from the extreme green advocates.

I suspect those throwing the punches at Ms. Hayhoe and the climate change industry would be anyone who isn't as all in as she and those poised to win big government grants to solve the crises---and change fundamental cultural activities, like travel , etc., through federal mandates.

This may well be the perfect crises to move the secular progressive agenda forward.

US Supreme Court: "It's Okay To Pray"

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

Yesterday the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of prayer before the city council meetings in Greece, N.Y., a town just outside Rochester.

In fact, the majority ruled the content of the prayer, which Obama appointees to the Court were arguing was a critical part of the case, was "not" critical at all, even if the prayers "routinely stress Christianity."

The ruling referred to America's Christian heritage and tradition, saying prayer has always been a part of who we are. The Court said anyone living here should be aware of that fact.

Here's more on the ruling, what Obama appointees were arguing and what some of the more far reaching implications of this ruling could be.

Which U.S. States are "Most" and "Least" Trusted? And Why?

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
Gallup published a survey a week ago which measures the "Trust" citizens have in their local state government.

A number of interesting and revealing facts emerged from the survey.

For instance, the average trust in Republican dominated states is 67% while the average trust in Democrat controlled states is only 57%.

However, there are other contributing factors to how much people trust their state government.

And we must ask ourselves how much if any trust should be placed in government?

How do you think your state ranks in regard to trust in state government?

God--Allah--And Atheists

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF

As people of Christian faith gathered across America yesterday on the National Day of Prayer, asking God's blessing, forgiveness and restoration, atheists continued their demands for states to recognize a "National Day of Reason."

The Daily KOS, a far left publication says, "Choosing reason over religion is more important now than ever."

Our public education system agrees, as long as the religion is Christian. If it's "other," that's different.

Multiculturalism trumps separation of church and state and in the mind of the government run schools, Islam is to be accommodated while Christianity..... not so much.

In fact, Islam has a systematic approach, web site and all, for dealing with public schools---how to get accommodation for designated prayer areas and how to get other special accommodations.

The secular progressives call it multiculturalism. It is the most deceptive cultural conflict in the history of our nation.

National Day Of Prayer: "If My People..."

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
Today is the National Day of Prayer in America.

The theme chosen by the National Day of Prayer Committee for this day is "Investing In Hope...Transforming Our Nation Through Prayer."

The featured Scripture verse is, "So that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 15:6).

It is expected that more than 2,000,000 people will gather across the nation in small communities and large cities to pray to God, asking Him to transform our nation.

The National Day of Prayer Committee, chaired this year by Anne Graham Lotz, Billy Graham's daughter, has also provided a local prayer event directory. You may go to this link, enter your zip code and find information on prayer gatherings in your area.

John Bornschein was asked to write an article for this National Day of Prayer. It is titled, "Still...Under God." He asks, "Why does the United states have a day of prayer, designated by Congress, signed into law by the President of the United States, recognized by all 50 Governors and observed by millions of people?

He says, "The reason is clear. It is etched on buildings, monuments and memorials, defined in law and recited by students each and every day. Like it or not, this great nation is still 'Under God'---a God who is active in the affairs of men and their governing authorities (Proverbs 8:15; 21:1, Daniel 4:25)."

Bornschein says, "Groups like Planned Parenthood and the Freedom From Religion Foundation, among others, oppose the idea that people are accountable to an Almighty God. But this is 'nothing new under the sun'," quoting from Eccl 1:9. He says, "Generation after generation, people seek to tear down the institutions that uphold what remaining moral layers prevail within a civilized society, offering nothing in return. After all, its easier to tear down than to build up."

He directs the reader's attention to a letter written by Benjamin Franklin to Thomas Paine in response to Paine's controversial book "Age Of Reason."

Keep in mind, Franklin was one of the least religious of our Founders.
