Police Place "In God We Trust" on Patrol Cars

A police department in Texas has placed large "In God We Trust" decals on their patrol vehicles.

Police Chief Adrian Garcia says it's in response to the continual killing of law enforcement officers, particularly the August 28 killing of a sheriff's deputy who was shot 15 times at a Houston--area gas station.

Other law enforcement agencies across the country are also putting "In God We Trust" decals on their vehicles.

Atheists are angry.

And the angry atheists are sending threatening letters as quickly as possible, telling the agencies to stop it, or they will sue because the law enforcement agencies are "endorsing religion."

Chief Garcia says, "It's time we get back to where we once were."

Will a judge arrest them for violation of the "establishment clause?"

It isn't only in Texas.

Mark Nichols, the sheriff of Randolph County, Missouri, says, "We aren't endorsing religion."

"It's our nation's motto and we want to be patriot toward our country," he told the press.

In fact, the Missouri Sheriff's Association supports the action and has voted to put "In God We Trust" on all sheriff's vehicles across the state.

Associated Press is reporting that in addition to the agency in Texas, "enforcement agencies in Missouri, Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Virginia and elsewhere" are doing the same thing---and are hearing from the atheist organization.

Gary Parsons, the sheriff in Lee County, Virginia, said his office spent a total of $50 to have the decals added to 25 vehicles.

He said, "Many people feel their belief system is being trampled and that adding the phrase is a way of pushing back."

Parsons says, "It's not only a symbol of moral values but a symbol of patriotism."

The atheist organization, in their threatening letter to Parsons, said, "Statements about a god have no place on government-owned cars. Public officials should not use their government position and government property to promote their religious views."

In today's environment of lawlessness and all out assault on Christianity, the mantra of the atheists is sounding more and more hollow to more and more Americans.

In the past the Supreme Court and lower courts have ruled in favor of the phrase and other religious overtures as "part of our country's history and heritage."

The atheist organization is obviously hoping this new Supreme Court, with a majority of anti-marriage activists, may decide God, too, must go the way of natural marriage.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation says the "In God We Trust" has "no secular purpose."

They explain that "it was originally adopted during the Cold War as a reaction to the 'godliness' of communism."

They prefer E Pluribus Unum, which they say is purely secular.

What the atheists fail to acknowledge is that "In God We Trust" actually began appearing on federal coins in the Civil War era, and Congress, in 1956, approved it as our national motto, because it had already been in use on federal coins for 100 years.

Oh, the deception.

People who study such things say we are going to see more of these kinds of challenges going forward.

What both they and the atheists may be missing is that there is a growing resolve---a resistance, to the assault on God and Christianity in a nation birthed out of love for religious freedom and biblical values---not freedom from religion.

Sheriff Garcia gets it right when he says "...it's time we get back to where we came from."

The Prophet Jeremiah basically said the same thing several thousand years ago. It's recorded in chapter 6 of the book he wrote:
"Were they ashamed because of the abomination they have done? They were not even ashamed at all; They did not even know how to blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; At the time that I punish them, They shall be cast down,' says the LORD. Thus says the LORD, 'Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths, Where the good way is, and walk in it; And you will find rest for your souls'."

The people didn't listen to Jeremiah.

But they said, "We will not walk in it." And in verse 17, "And I set watchmen over you, saying, 'Listen to the sound of the trumpet!' But they said, 'We will not listen.'…"

I believe people in our times are beginning to listen--- there is the beginning of an awakening, an inclination to now listen to the traditional--conservative, "old" ways in America.

Clearly the progressive ideology is miserably failing on every front.

While Clinton's and Obama's political party is turning more and more of its interest toward a marginal socialist presidential candidate, a majority of Americans are looking for answers. And they no longer believe the "ruling class" of politicians have the answers.

The so-called "new paths" of secular progressivism are miserably failing.

And in their attempt to "fundamentally remake America," they are attempting to destroy the primary institutions of our culture---our faith, our freedom, our family, marriage and even the sanctity of life itself.

"Stand by the old ways, Seek and ask for the ancient paths, Where the good way is, and walk in it; And you will find rest for your souls."
