Mother of Terrorist: "Son Was Stressed--Didn't Mean to Kill"

The mother of a Paris suicide bomber says her son "didn't mean to kill anyone."

She believes "he blew himself up because of stress."

A mother's heart would want to believe that.

A different kind of denial is heard outside a bombed out cafe, where young adults who live in the area are gathered, blaming America and Europe for the terrorism in France Friday.

However, the ultimate denial is from the President of the United States---yesterday---from a world stage in Turkey, where he blasts Sen. Ted Cruz.

The mother of Paris suicide bomber Ibrahim Abdesslam---who along with his 2 brothers were involved in masterminding the Paris attacks from their home in Brussels, says her son "did not mean to kill anyone" and believes he blew himself up due to "stress."

Another family member has told the press, "Maybe the explosives went off prematurely by accident. Maybe it was stress."

The family told the press they were really surprised that Ibrahim was involved. Even though he had spent time in Syria, they felt he was acting "normal."

They admitted they had noticed the other 2 brothers seemed to have been radicalized.

Ibrahim detonated his suicide vest outside the Comptoir Voltaire cafe on Friday night. However, although a number of people were killed in the cafe, his bomb killed only himself.

His brother Mohamed was arrested in Brussels on Saturday. His other brother, Salah, is Europe's most wanted man---at the moment, the subject of an international arrest warrant.

A mother's love for her son can sometimes be blind. Only God knows his heart and mind.

In a conversation Sunday outside a bombed cafe, denial of a different kind was on full display.

Haaretz, an Israeli newspaper, is reporting that a large gathering was not condemning ISIS for the attacks. The 30 something crowd---a product of political correctness---never talked about Islam and ISIS in terms of terrorism.

You will note that secular progressivism, whether in America, Paris or elsewhere follows the same basic narrative. It is a narrative and ideology that leads ultimately to chaos, confusion and destruction.

And the denial of reality.

Because a paid subscription is required to read the full story online, the link above will not lead you to the full story. However, this is the heart of the article:

A group of friends was standing near the candles that had been lit at the foot of the monument at the square, trying to find out if the waiter that had served them at La Belle Equipe, one of the restaurants attacked in the 11th arrondissement, had been killed.[…]
But they aren’t angry, at least not at the perpetrators. “They’re stupid, but they aren’t evil,” their friend Sabrina, an administrative worker in one of the theaters in the 11th arrondissement, said. “They are victims of a system that excluded them from society, that’s why they felt this doesn’t belong to them and they could attack. There are those who live here in alienation, and we are all to blame for this alienation.”[…]
“After the attacks in January, they said we should unite, but that essentially meant that we should be together and not think independently,” says Clemens Mama, a teacher. “They don’t want us to think that maybe it’s connected to the policies of our government and of the United States in the Middle East.” No, she wasn’t surprised that the attackers apparently included people who were born and raised in France. “These are people the government gave up on, and you have to ask why,” she said.

No one wanted to talk about Islamists or the Islamic State, even after it took responsibility for the attacks and French President Francois Hollande announced that the group was behind them. “Daesh is so dangerous to France,” said Johann Crispel, a business student at a college near one of the restaurants that was attacked, using the Arabic acronym for the Islamic State and wrinkling his nose as he enunciated it. “Perhaps it’s correct to bomb them in the name of democracy and freedom, but it brought the war in Syria to us in France. I don’t think it’s worth it.”

It was hard to find anyone at this gathering who would say a bad word about the attackers, and expressions of patriotism were restrained. Perhaps it should be no surprise in this part of town. Most residents of the 11th arrondissement are what the French call “bobo,” bohemian and bourgeois, middle-class academics in their 30s and 40s with clearly leftist leanings.

A mother in denial is understandable. Younger citizens in denial is deeply troubling and sad, but seen as a result of their secular progressive indoctrination in government run schools.

The President of the United States in denial... is horrifying.

From a world stage in Turkey yesterday President Obama attacked Ted Cruz regarding the admission of Muslim refugees in light of the events in Paris.

Sunday, Sen. Ted Cruz suggested, "Muslim refugees should be barred from entering the United States" but the US should allow displaced Christians from Syria to enter at this time, saying, "There is no meaningful risk of Christians committing acts of terror."

Before the world, President Obama, without naming him, attacked Sen. Ted Cruz: "When I hear folks say that, well, maybe we should just admit Christians but not the Muslims; When I hear political leaders suggesting that there would be a religious test for which a person is fleeing from a war-torn country is admitted, when some of those folks themselves come from families who benefited from protection when they were fleeing political persecution---that's shameful. That's not American. That's not who we are. We don't have religious tests to our compassion."

"I can't afford to play some of the political games that others may," the president said.

The president also reaffirmed, yesterday, that he believes his ISIS strategy is working.

This is a snapshot---a freeze frame, of a generation, due to political correctness and relativistic values, are in many ways unable to discern between good and evil---right and wrong.

God help us.
