The columnist begins with this:
"For no sin other than daring to bolt from The Leftwing Thought Plantation, for no sin other than to express conservative political and social beliefs, already a major news network, no less than NBC News through its cable network MSNBC, has allowed one of its guests to publicly refer to Carson as a “safe negro.” And there have been no consequences or uproar, not even from NBC’s so-called competitors throughout the rest of the media."
This is about more than Dr. Ben Carson, although I do not minimize the depravity of the statement, it is also about the cultural and moral state of our nation.
Here's what was said, and why it should outrage and concern every American citizen---Republican or Democrat or Independent.
These kinds of statements reflect the cultural moral abyss in which we find ourselves.
We are drowning in our hypocrisy.
Columnist John Nolte may or may not be a supporter of Ben Carson's candidacy---I don't know, but one thing is certain---he recognizes hypocrisy and racism in its most base form when he sees it.
And so do most Americans. Unless it involves themselves.
Whether or not Ben Carson is your candidate of choice, all of us need to be informed.
Nolte says since the days of slavery, "Democrats have sought to personally destroy any black person who dares threaten their power base...Carson is a huge threat... and must be Clarence Thomas'd."
It was MSNBC guest and NAACP chapter president, L. Joy Williams, who, on the air, labeled Carson a "safe negro" for Republicans.
Nolte says, "Already one of the top writers for "The New Republic," Brian Beutler has publicly referred to Carson using the racial slur "token." And there has been "no consequence, not even from the New Republic's so-called competitors."
He says the media has referred to Carson as the "other" while "Bloomberg News, Forbes, The New Yorker and the Huffington Post have openly called him 'dangerous'--- in other words, 'The Scary Black Man'."
"In a single headline," Nolte writes, "Salon smeared Carson a half-dozen times and called for someone to shut Ben Carson up: 'Somebody Shut Ben Carson up: Dangerous GOP Gun-Nut lunacy Makes Us All Less Safe'."
The Daily Beast has attacked Carson as "crazy" and called him "just plain nuts." And used a word I won't publish.
"Like Clarence Thomas, Carson must therefore be destroyed and disqualified as a black man," Nolte writes.
There is no question there is a profound racial hypocrisy among the progressive left---the Democrats. It is rooted deeply in their beginnings.
While claiming to be the group that looks out for, and takes care of, the disenfranchised, poor and underprivileged, they have, through their policies and ideologies, consigned them to the very poverty they claim to be delivering them from.
Allen West, himself a black man, explains it better than I can.
In his book, "Guardian of the Republic," there is a chapter called, "The Hunt for the Black Conservative."
In it he addresses how the secular progressive Left will spare no efforts to demean, denigrate, destroy and discredit black conservatives.
"The interesting hypocrisy is that if you are an acceptable black person---namely a liberal progressive---all manner of protections will be afforded regardless of how disgusting and heinous your offenses may be," he writes.
West points out specific cases of hypocrisy which include Al Sharpton, Condoleeza Rice, and Barack Hussein Obama---it's a long list.
West is trying to figure out how a majority of blacks can follow that kind of duplicitous political leadership.
Some of us "white guys" are trying to figure that out as well.
Hypocrisy thrives in a culture that embraces relativism and secularism. We live in such a time.
In essence, "hypocrisy" refers to the act of claiming to believe something but acting in a different manner.
The word hypocrisy is derived from the Greek term for "actor"---literally, "one who wears a mask."
One who pretends.
Jesus, Isaiah, Paul and others addressed hypocrisy.
There are 2 kinds of hypocrisy. Both destructive. Both identified as sin in the Bible.
