11/9--Post Election Trauma Syndrome (P.E.T.S.)

I got an email Saturday from a pastor friend of mine. It had one sentence which simply said, "Hey Gary--2 dates will remain in the collective memory of America---9/11 and 11/9."

Colleges are trying to deal with the mass trauma of 11/9---America's election--- by bringing in special counselors, sponsoring "cry-ins" and safe spaces, postponing final and mid-term tests and even bringing in pets to be with students in these various kinds of "safe spaces" on campus.

University of Washington President encouraged students to attend a "healing" gathering in the campus "unity room."

Tens of thousands are rioting in cities across America, while the media spent yesterday reporting about themselves, saying this was one of the most traumatic elections for journalists in history. Even they---experienced journalists--- are dealing with Post Election Trauma Syndrome.

I haven't seen anyone else use the acronym, but I think we are in the midst of defining a new disorder, for which thousands of dollars will be spent to study and then to treat it.

Let's call it P.E.T.S.

Tens of Thousands are running the streets of cities breaking things and looting from Seattle and Portland to LA, Miami, and New York to little towns across our land---all, the far Left progressives say, in an effort to cope with the collapse of the progressive house of cards.

Early prognosis shows that it is the students who suffer in silence and loneliness who seem to be suffering the most. How could the far Left fail so miserably?

University of Pennsylvania is bringing in puppies to help students cope with the trauma of losing their election.

Penn State student Daniel Tancredi says that students at the Ivy League university were being "coddled" by administrators this week in reaction to the election.

He says they were actually bringing in dogs and cats to be with the students in safe places to help them through this most difficult time---much like we use pets to comfort veterans and the elderly and the terminally ill.

Daniel says, "There were sheets of paper available with black and white printed designs on them for students to color in. Essentially they looked like pages from a coloring book that were printed from a computer."

He said, "They all had positive feel-good messages on them. Students colored them in with colored pencils."

Tancredi also said that many professors at the University of Pennsylvania turned Wednesday's class sessions into "safe spaces" where students were invited to express their concerns about America's future.

A different kind of "safe space" was created as a place where students could express themselves and talk openly about their fear regarding their own future.

The presidential vote among students on Penn campus was: Hillary 3612, Trump 375.

Clearly, the "diversity" at Penn is not diversity of thought. What we actually see is a monolithic thought which conforms to the ideology of the far Left professors who rule the campus. Most all government run taxpayer funded campuses.

Cornell University is treating P.E.T.S. with "cry-ins."

The Cornell Daily Sun reported, "Braving the cold, wind and occasional rain, Cornellians sat in a circle to share stories and console each other, organizers encouraging attendees to gather closer together and 'include each other'."

Student Zoe Maisel, co-president of Planned Parenthood Generation Action at Cornell, said she was organizing the "cry-in" for "those who have been crying, not knowing how to cope with the election results.

"We need to take a break and just cry," she said, "tomorrow we get back to work...because people feel really powerless."

Some are saying that many students are too shaken by the outcome of the election to even talk about it.

They sit in silence and pet a pet.

Yale students were so distraught they asked their professor to cancel mid-term exams---at least one did.

Some made the exams optional.

University of Michigan students occupied the school's library where they held a candlelight vigil to protest the outcome of the election.

Professors at the University of Connecticut, University of Rochester and Iowa State University canceled all classes because they simply could not face the day.

But perhaps it was the University of Washington that took the cake---because the feelings of fear, marginalization, and distress came not only from the students, but straight from the top.

UW President Ana Mari Cauce sent out a letter Wednesday to all students and faculty describing herself as "an immigrant Latina lesbian," informing students of a Trump inspired gathering of healing in the "Unity Room" of the school's ethnic cultural center."

It isn't only the kids or even the leadership at America's universities---taxpayer funded universities---who are suffering from PETS.

The LA Times is reporting that the Democratic Party is seriously considering Rep. Keith Ellison of Minnesota, a Muslim, to lead the Party as its new chairman.

The Times says Bernie Sanders and New York Sen. Charles Schumer want him to be the next Party leader. There are also 250,000 Democrats who have signed a petition urging the Party to appoint him as their leader.

Yesterday, Harry Reid came out in strong support of him.

Sanders says, "Keith is one of the most progressive members of Congress, and was an early supporter of our political revolution."

It is well known that Sanders supporters are working to take over the Democratic Party. Bernie says, "The Democratic Party needs to look at itself in the mirror..."

Each power component in the Democratic Party is offering its own prescription for PETS.

While Hillary and Bill are taking a look at their next speech, at the fee structure, the press is promising to do better next election---poising for their 4-year run at destroying Trump, while Bernie and other progressives are promising even more "progressive" leadership.

As the children are weeping, the adults are hoping to rebuild.

It was Jesus who gave the healing prescription.

It is He who gave this prescription:

Matthew 7:24-27

Build on the Rock

24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

Secular Progressivism is sand. Eternal Judeo-Christian values and principles are the rock.

Storms will come. Houses built on sand will collapse every time. Houses built on the rock will stand every time.

Be Informed. Be Faithful. Be Strong. Be Vigilant. Be Prayerful.
