As Schools Prepare To Open

Education Week, not a conservative publication, but widely read among educators says, "Schools are opening to a somber mood" following the riots in Charlottesville and beyond---quoting a retired 4th grade teacher who says she used to "enliven Civil War history lessons" by taking her class to the site of the now controversial statue of Gen. Robert E. Lee.

Actor Leslie Odom, Jr., who played "Hamilton" in the Broadway play, says if statues, including those of Washington and Jefferson, no longer "make us feel good about our selves," they too should be torn down.

Not only the 50.4 million kids returning to America's public elementary and secondary classrooms, but most of the 325 million people in our country are revisiting who we are, and what we are to become as a nation.

In trying to control the national narrative and revise history, secular progressives are ironically causing our nation to focus on our history that they seek to revise, and have a conversation that may not have happened otherwise.

Education Week featured a story yesterday based around the fact that kids will soon be returning to the classroom "in a somber mood" because of what is happening in our country, which included comments by Janette Martin, a former 4th grade teacher in Charlottesville.

Martin says she remembers taking her students on field trips to the site of the city's controversial statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee, where she says she "enlivened Civil War history lessons."

"Now," she says, "that has become synonymous with something else entirely: a textbook of hate."

Indeed it has.

Actor Leslie Odom, Jr. who played the lead role in the successful Broadway play "Hamilton," said yesterday that statues should be erected to "teach us" and to "give us hope," but if they no longer do so. "Communities can decide that they don't want them anymore."

This, of course, is the banner "truth" of the secular progressive movement.

Who decides whether these symbols are still teaching us? Isn't history what it is? And shouldn't people, including students, know history?

Founding Father Patrick Henry said, often, he had no real way of understanding the future, without knowing the past.

However, the secular progressive does not interpret the present by historical fact, because the secular progressive bases belief on "feelings"---at the moment.

Odom told the press, "If we decide...it's no longer inspiring us, if it's no longer making us feel great about ourselves, they should come down for awhile or forever."

And Odom added that would include, "Washington and Jefferson."

Yesterday, President Trump refused to back down from his critics---Republican and Democrat---tweeting, "Sad to see the history and culture of our great country being ripped apart with the removal of our beautiful statues and monuments. You can't change history, but you can learn from it. Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson---who's next, Washington, Jefferson? So foolish."

As the president was asking the question, Odom and the secular progressives were answering it.

MSNBC was relentless this week in calling Trump advisers Steve Bannon, Sebastian Gorka, and Stephen Miller "racists" and white supremacists" in the White House.

To accept history---regardless of how we may "feel" about it, is wisdom.

To attempt to delete it by revision, is cultural Marxism.

Obama promised a "post racial America" if elected. What happened?

He, as most secular progressives, preferred to "fundamentally remake America" over attempting to improve race relations.

This trend that we are witnessing is not being driven by white prejudice. It is being driven by ideology. The reason race relations in America continue to deteriorate is the Marxist philosophies being taught relentlessly in public schools and colleges across the nation.

Many of us have become familiar with the term "political correctness," but most don't know its origins are in the cultural Marxism ideology.

While classical Marxism argued that capitalism and the class structure it created must be overthrown because it was oppressive to workers, cultural Marxism argues that it is not economics that creates oppression but rather the nuclear family, traditional morality, and concepts of race, gender, and sexual identity.

These are the chains of tyranny which must be broken by social revolution in the mind of the secularist.

The Daily Caller published an article about this last fall titled, "Cultural Marxism is Destroying America."

The article is more relevant today than when published a few months ago. It is not long, but very informative. I strongly recommend you read it.

It gives a history of how Marxism originally failed, and how it was reborn in an Italian prison when a young socialist named Antonio Gramsci realized the problem was the Christian bedrock of Western European cultures.

If the influence of Judeo-Christianity could be removed from the culture and eliminated, or at least contained in little church buildings here and there, cultural Marxism would flourish and the culture would be brought down.

We complied with the inverted notion of "separation of church and state."

He encouraged Marxists to develop a fifth column inside these countries to destroy the foundations of Western cultures.

The Daily Caller article outlines how cultural Marxism plays out in real life---in the classroom and else where.

"Modern woman, are you unhappy in your marriage? Are the responsibilities of motherhood and the burdens of work getting you down? Patriarchy! Black man, do you feel hard done by? Does it seem like the deck is always stacked against you and you can't get a break? Racism! Gay man, are you tired of the sneers and microaggressions of straight men? They're afraid that they're gay too. That's why they hate you!"

The people cultural Marxists have labeled as victims become worse off, not better.

Cultural Marxism proved over the last number of decades that it is the deadliest and most destructive belief system in the world.

By their own admission, Christianity has been the only restraint against its long march through America's institutions---particularly our schools---while the church was complicit by our silence.

This helps us understand why such an attack, not so much on religion, but specifically on Christianity is relentless.

It was Karl Marx who said, "Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world and the soul of souless conditions. It is the opium of the people."

Something from which the people must be cured---or as Hillary put it, "Old codes and beliefs must be changed."

Even as all the kings men and all the kings horses failed to put humpty dumpty back together again, all of the best intentions, anti-discrimination laws, dialogue, denouncements and seminars will not rid us of the destructive ideology of cultural Marxism.

Nor will it restore the greatest nation in the history of the world.

But there's hope.

When America can once again see what our Founders saw and embrace what they embraced, healing and restoration can follow.

Only the gospel of Jesus Christ can save our nation and our culture, because only the gospel of Jesus Christ can restore the heart of broken people.

Judeo-Christian values and principles must be re-introduced in our institutions---and that begins in the Church.

This is not a time to remain silent. It is a time to speak the Truth. And to be engaged.

Be Informed. Be Discerning. Be Bold. Be Vigilant. Be Prayerful.
