George Soros and his "Rent an Evangelical" Project

We're now learning that George Soros is, in fact, helping fund "religious Left" organizations on several fronts--even though Jim Wallis and other leaders of the Left denied it, the light is on and Soros money is flowing to the so-called Christian Left.

Soros' funding of the Christian Left is so well known among the Soros crowd that they refer to it as "rent an evangelical."

Imagine: Using a Christian front to de-Christianize a culture and a nation.

Be informed.

I'll be talking more about Soros and the Christian Left on our live radio program today. You may join us from anywhere in the world. Here's how.

We will also be discussing updates on bombs that have been mailed to individuals---and new developments regarding the migrant caravan.

Renting evangelicals? Really?

The American Association of Evangelicals has made public a video which reveals that George Soros funds are flowing to Christian Left groups, like Jim Wallis' Sojourners, and others.

In fact, the recipients are regularly referred to as "rented evangelicals."

The video shows Heather Hurlburt, an executive for New America, a left-wing organization, admitting her group's use of the "rent an evangelical" model.

AAE says through the Soros Open Society Foundations, funds are flowing to evangelicals and Catholics that are also called "mascots," who promote amnesty, open borders, and illegal-immigrant voter registration.

And illegal voter registration is happening in many states thanks to these people.

The paid Christian leaders serve as "surprising validators for their anti-Christian projects and candidates."

AAE says, "Imagine the evil of using a Christian front to de-Christianize a culture and nation."

Cheryl Chumley wrote an op-ed piece for the Washington Times this week after she had seen the video linked above.

She said, "The goal of this is to infiltrate the Christian base in America to divide, and ultimately conquer, the religious minded within the Republican Party."

Back in 2010, The National Review published an extensive report on Soros' influence on Christian groups---particularly those whose banner is "social justice."

Jim Wallis, at the time, denied that his group had ever received any money from Soros. He said "our books are totally open. Always have been. Our money comes from Christians who support us and read 'Sojourners'."

Wallis' Sojourners is a print monthly magazine and online publication that defends politics of identity and social justice---and he claims his beliefs are all from a biblical perspective.

I, along with most other evangelicals, profoundly disagree. His teaching does not square with Scripture. But he has a big following and regularly speaks in churches across our country.

The National Review story revealed that Jim Wallis' Sojourners had received 3 grants from the Open Society Foundation, which National Review called, "only the tip of the iceberg."

When confronted with the verified facts, Wallis was forced to admit the truth. Soon after the Review story came out, mention of the grants on the Open Society website disappeared.

But the money has not disappeared.

Chumley says, "Soros-tied Open Society money and grant dollars have not only flowed by the hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Sojourners...But Soros-tied Open Society money and grant dollars have been flowing to Sojourners for some time."

Sojourners is not the only religious Left group Soros is "renting?"

It is also flowing to these religious Left groups: Pico, Faith in Public Life, Faithful America, New Evangelical Partnership, Telos, J.Street, National Council of Churches, Evangelicals for Human Rights, Catholics United, Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good and Catholics for Choice.

Chumley says the Blaze reported in 2011 that Soros sent $150,000 to Jim Wallis' Left-wing Sojourners.

And Chumley writes, "Lest the significance goes unrecognized: The Sojourners is a far Left group that masquerades as a Christian outlet, bent on doing God's work, but that far more often seems to do nothing but Democrats' will."

The Sojourner website says: "We are evangelicals, Catholics, Pentecostals and Protestants; progressives and conservatives; blacks, whites, Latinos, and Asians; women and men; young and old...[and] seek to discover the intersection of faith, politics, and culture."

All that sounds honorable and religious. But how come that intersection never leads along a conservative path?

The organization's magazine puts out such thoughts as: "No Wall Between Amigos." And this: "Conservative Court Packing isn't About Abortion---It's About Culture: If The Right Really Cares About Abortion, They Should Reduce Poverty."

This week they published this: "In the Midst of a Political Emergency; The Administration is Threatening the Soul of this Nation."

Their "Vote Common Good" tour is winding through 31 cities and hundreds of churches as I write this.

Vote Common Good executive director Doug Pagitt is said to be "bringing about a generous Christian conversation." As part of that generous conversation, he said in an appearance in Washington DC, "We believe the Trump administration needs to be restrained" and Pagitt simply wants Americans to "consider the common good when they vote."

Chumley says, "What's going on here is not so much Christianity as it is partisan politicking under the cover of religious teaching. It's the furtherance of a George Soros style of progressivism, but cloaked in Christianity---backed by George Soros bucks---and made all the worse by the initial denials of the George Soros ties."

Kelly Monroe Kullberg, a spokesperson for AAE, said in a statement, "Anti-American globalists like Soros are funding a growth industry of paid anarchists and political activists to divide and weaken America, including the Church."

Chumley, the journalist, says, "Anyone can toss down a Christian card, even an atheist. But a clue to identify an anti-American enemy is the wolves always want Big Government, bigger government, a more powerful centralized system with a weakened rights for the individual---and if it's secret Soros dollars and Bible-thumping that gets them there, so be it.

You will note in the video linked above, American Association of Evangelicals says, "Rather than advancing the whole counsel of Scripture as the highest love for people and culture, these useful ministers assist non-Christian policies, projects and politicians with faith words, optics, organizing and media to confuse Christian and other value voters, to recruit the Church into their radical political agenda and to help the Left's politicians get elected."

If Wallace or his troop come to your church, skip it.

Beware. Be Informed. Be Vigilant. Be Prayerful.
