DC Comic Features a Jesus Christ Who is Out of Touch and Bungling

One of the leading comic book publishers in the world---DC Comics---is set to release a new "comic" book featuring an out-of-touch, former savior, bungling Jesus Christ as the lead character.

It pains me to write this---in fact I would prefer not to do so, but Christian parents and grandparents, you've got to be informed.

In the new comic, written by veteran writer Mark Russell, Jesus Christ will be portrayed as an out of touch former savior who is cast out of his prison in heaven and back down to earth because God the Father felt that Christ messed up his first visit with mankind, by getting killed.

The so-called comic book is set to be released in March. It's titled, "Second Coming."

Russell, the writer, says it features Jesus living in an apartment with a superhero named Sun-Man and describes the superhero as "the varsity quarterback son God never had."

Russell told the pop culture web site, "Bleeding Cool,"
"An all-powerful superhero named Sun-Man, has to share a two bedroom apartment with Jesus Christ. The conceit is that God was so upset with Jesus' performance the first time he came to Earth since he was arrested so soon and crucified shortly after, that he has had him locked-up since then."

Russell says,
"God then sees this superhero on Earth a few thousand years later and says 'that's what I wanted for you!' He sends Jesus down to learn from this superhero, and they end up learning from each other. They learn the limitations of each other's approach to the world and its problems."

The writer also explains that this Jesus has been kept in a heavenly prison since his crucifixion because God is mad at him. "God was so upset with the fact that he got crucified the last time", he says, "that he wouldn't even let him look through the celestial keyhole at Earth to keep up."

In the pictured storyline, Jesus goes by a megachurch and they have a billboard of this Tom Brady-looking Jesus Christ throwing a football and he doesn't recognize himself.

Russell says, "This is a metaphor for him not recognizing what's been done with religion that bears his name."

And he says, "Megachurches are easy to make fun of."

Why is he and DC Comics doing this?

Only God knows for sure, but it is a mockery in its most crass, blasphemous form.

Russell says, "We need to rethink the ways to get the human race to play nice with itself because the ways we've been coming up with thus far, bribery, revenge, haven't solved anything."

He says, "We've been nailing criminals to crosses, in one way or another, for two thousand years and we still get more criminals."

This new project is certainly seen as a way to make money or the publisher wouldn't publish it, but it also most likely reflects the personal emptiness of the writer Mark Russell, and the publisher DC Comics.

Apparently, he is searching for a real way to "fix" the problems and has decided that Jesus Christ and His gospel is not the answer.

And now he is indoctrinating children across the world with his own brand of humanism and skepticism.

Mockery is a very serious offense against God and is most always committed by those who have no fear of Him or deny His existence.

There are various kinds of people who mock God.

The fool, Psalm 74:22; the wicked, Psalm 1:1; the enemy, Psalm 74:10; the hater of knowledge, Proverbs 1:22; 13:1; the proud, Psalm 119:51, Isaiah 37:17; and the unteachable, Proverbs 15:12.

A mocker goes beyond mere lack of judgment to making a conscious decision for evil.

Those who mock God will mock the people of God.

The Prophet Jeremiah "became the laughing stock of all my people," and was mocked "in song all day long (Lamentations 3:14)."

Mockery of God's prophets was commonplace (2 Chronicles 36:16).

Nehemiah (2:19) was mocked by his enemies, Elisha (2 Kings 2:23) was mocked by the youths of Bethel, and our Lord Jesus Christ was mocked by Herod and his soldiers (Luke 23:11), by the Roman soldiers (Mark 15:20 and Luke 23:36), by a thief on a cross (Luke 23:39), and by the Jewish leaders who passed by the cross (Matthew 27:41).

God warns that mockery of what is holy will be punished.

Zephaniah predicted the downfall of Moab and Ammon, saying:
"This is what they will get in return for their pride, for insulting and mocking the people of the Lord Almighty (Zephaniah 2:10).
Isaiah 28:22 warns that mockery will cause the chains of Judah's sin to become stronger and that destruction will follow.
And Proverbs 3:34 says that God will mock the mocker, but give favor to the humble and oppressed.

Jesus Christ will survive this assault by DC Comics. He's been through this kind of thing before.

Our concern should be, and is, focused on our children. These kinds of things can be very destructive to the spiritual development of kids if they are sitting in their room reading this kind of mockery.

Don't allow this publication into your home or into the mind of your children.

Here's the result of being vigilant and informed:

Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; [mockers]
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law, he meditates day and night.
He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper (Psalm 1:1-3).

Be Vigilant. Be Informed. Be Pro-Active. Be Prayerful. Be Blessed.
