NY Gov Cuomo "Lights" the Way to Death

In celebration of New York passing the nation's most destructive abortion law on the anniversary of Roe v Wade, Gov. Andrew Cuomo directed that the One World Trade Center's 408-foot spire atop the 1776-foot building be lighted in pink.

Celebrating the killing of children.

Be Informed. Be Prayerful.

Celebrating death.

Not since the practice of Baal worship---sacrificing babies to the gods mentioned in the Old Testament--- has there been any more celebration surrounding killing unwanted unborn babies.

The Governor put out a press release that said:

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo directed that One World Trade Center's 408-foot spire, the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, the Kosciuszko Bridge and the Alfred E. Smith Building in Albany be lit in pink this evening, January 22, to celebrate the signing of the Reproductive Health Act.
"The Reproductive Health Act is a historic victory for New Yorkers and for our progressive values," Governor Cuomo said. "In the face of a federal government intent on rolling back Roe v. Wade and women's reproductive rights, I promised that we would enact this critical legislation within the first 30 days of the new session - and we got it done. I am directing that New York's landmarks be lit in pink to celebrate this achievement and shine a bright light forward for the rest of the nation to follow."

CBS News reports that "The new law safeguards rights laid out in Roe v Wade and other court rulings, including a provision permitting late-term abortions when a women's health is endangered."

"Endangered" includes depression and/or other emotions which often accompany pregnancy and childbirth.

Clearly, this was a move to protect abortion on demand in case Roe v Wade is overturned.

Cuomo, in arranging the celebration following the passage of the bill, had also arranged for Sarah Weddington, the Texas attorney who argued in favor of Roe v Wade in front of the Supreme Court, to be at his side.

She told the governor and the activists in the Assembly, "Thank you for what you've done for women."

This legislation replaces a 1970 state abortion law that was enacted three years before Roe v Wade.

The Associated Press reported that "9 other states including California, Washington, and Oregon have also put protections for abortion rights in their state statutes," but none as far reaching as New York's bill.

New York's bill essentially allows abortion on demand anytime until a moment before birth---and allows midwives and physician's assistants to perform the abortion, because this new deadly law moves the section of state law dealing with abortion from the penal code to health statutes.

Cuomo told the press: "This is a historic victory for New Yorkers and for our progressive values."

Progressive values?

As I am writing this, I'm noticing that Mike Huckabee and I hold a shared outrage over the celebration of abortion and "shared values" in New York.

He wrote yesterday
"The leftists have slapped a new label on their failed policies that have created poverty, inequality, death and misery everywhere they've been tried, and nowhere more than in this New York legislation which they are calling 'Progressive'."

He said:
"This is what New York liberals think is progressive? Abortions have been declining over the past decade, both in New York and nationwide, as science has made it clearer that a baby in the womb is not a 'clump of cells' that magically turns into a baby at birth."

Huckabee says it's hardly progressive to be "directing the spire atop the WTC to be bathed in pink light to 'celebrate' the killing of children up to the ninth month of pregnancy."

And he says, "The fact that the World Trade Center is synonymous with the heroic New Yorkers who gave their lives to protect the lives of others made Cuomo's desecration of it for this vile anti-life purpose tantamount to sacrilege."

Following the Light.

As Cuomo directed the spire atop the 1776 foot WTC to be lighted in pink to celebrate abortion, he said it will "shine a bright light forward for the rest of the nation to follow."

Huckabee is right, this is not "progressive," nor is it consistent with the founding of America.

The passengers on the "Arbella" who left England in 1639 with their new charter had a great vision. They were to be an example for the rest of the world in right living.

Biblical Righteousness.

Future Governor John Winthrop stated their purposes quite clearly. He said, "We shall be as a city upon a hill, the eyes of all people are upon us."

Eleven ships would ultimately bring more than 1000 Puritan Pilgrims to the New World. The largest original venture in history at the time would bring a vision and commitment to be a beacon that would light the virtue and holiness of God's people.

By 1776, these people's great, great grandchildren would form what would become the greatest, most blessed and most prosperous nation in the history of the world---the United States of America.

Ronald Reagan later recaptured their vision and shared it with our nation. He said "America is still a magnet for all who must have freedom..a shining city on a hill"

But that light can be snuffed out if we forget our roots and neglect the author of our liberties.

In his farewell address in 1796, George Washington said: "Reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle."

A nation that celebrates the right to kill it's unwanted, unborn children is neither moral or principled.

Reagan and Winthrop understood the value of doing the right thing.

America became that "shining city on a hill," but those who have no moral bearing or understanding are working to destroy her very foundations.

What can we do?

Ohio's new governor says he is going to sign a "heartbeat" abortion bill that self-righteous former Republican Governor John Kasich vetoed last month before leaving office.

New Governor Mike DeWine says he's going to sign a bill that will make abortions illegal if a heartbeat can be detected. That will become the most restrictive abortion legislation in the country.

Most of us are not governors. What can we do?

Before Winthrop and Washington and Reagan, Jesus said this:

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:14-16).

Be Faithful. Be Strong. Be Informed. Be a Blessing. Be Blessed.

  2. Thank you Gary...even reporting this must have been painful for you!

Here we see clear evidence that embracing evil not only creates psychological dysfunction, but madness!

It is one thing for a power hungry politician to do anything to gain influence, power, and wealth, but the real heartbreaking eye-opener is a crowd of onlookers who give a standing ovation and arrogant boastful celebration to the announcement that now unborn children can be murdered without a doctors involvement up to the time of birth, and realistically during birth as well as in a "private" setting.

Madness now reigns in the Democrat party, the media, and in the minds and hearts of citizens across America who would encourage and facilitate the most deplorable and destructive actions and policies as long as they serve to damage and destroy those they hate with a vitriol and malice never before seen in America. Conservatives, Christians, and anyone who supports our president is marked for destruction by these homicidal lunatics. Most of all their hatred is an arrogant rejection of Almighty God and His sovereignty over all.

Now we see what true evil spawns.

Lest we succumb to the temptation to respond with malice and hatred, we should resolve to pray for these lost souls and hearts, because the price they are likely to pay for their malicious indulgences is eternal, for even the saved will be judged for their deeds.

May God forgive them for they know not what they are doing!

NEXT....SPEAK OUT against the willful and wanton murder of children who are ready to enter the world and live full lives. The more often we can repeat this for others to hear the more God's Holy Spirit can convict those hearts and souls that have been deceived.

    TRUTH IS...a Lonely Warrior

  3. The majority of women (65%)who have killed their babies (aborted) in the first trimester suffer tremendous guilt and depression. The average time it takes them to recover emotionally is SEVEN YEARS! Some suffer much longer. I wonder what the statistics will be for women who kill their babies right before birth. There is no medical reason to EVER abort a baby right before birth--in fact, it's much more dangerous than normal delivery. This is not "for women" or a women's health issue as it's being touted.

  4. Gary, in a May 6, 2008, piece entitled "A Fertile Environment for Euthanasia," you prophetically wrote: "... Is it just me or does this kind of exercise around a hypothetical situation seem to further desensitize our culture to the value of life? It seems that this discourse could actually further normalize the "God like" act of taking the lives of unwanted unborn babies ...". Heartbreakingly, here we are ten years later.
