Two Major Christian Organizations Sell-Out to Homosexual Demands

Two of the most influential Christian organizations---The National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) and the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) have announced they will now support the inclusion of sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression in federal Civil Rights protections.

This will impact millions of biblical Christians and their families.

Be informed. Be discerning.

This is a" patent rejection of biblical truths, moral law and sound Constitutional principles."

Rev. Dave Welch, president of the US Pastor Council, calls it, "The Great Evangelical Sellout."

The US Pastor Council is a growing inter-racial, interdenominational network of local Pastor Councils that was founded and grew from the flagship Houston Area Pastor Council---the team of pastors that led the defeat of lesbian former Mayor Annise Parker's pro-LGBTQ "Equal Rights Ordinance" in 2015.

You may recall that in 2014, the lesbian mayor declared a "sermon subpoena" on pastors in the city of Houston---a subpoena that included 17 categories of sermon and church-related information.

The subpoenas were embedded in the effort to defeat, on a city level, what the what the CCCU and NAE are now supporting at a national level---criminalizing Christianity outside the church building and eventually within it.

I wrote about this incident at the time. It shocked the evangelical church world.

The NAE and CCCU call the newly minted theological position "Fairness for All."

Lifesite News reports that Shirley Mullen, NAE board member and Houghton College president, argues that this is "the most viable strategy for comprehensive religious freedom protections to be combined with the explicit support for basic human rights for members of the LGBT community."

But Family Research Council policy analyst Peter Sprigg says proponents must define their terms.

He asks:
"Is it unjust discrimination for a Christian baker to decline to bake a cake to celebrate a same-sex wedding in violation of his own conscience? Or for that matter, is it 'harassment' for a school teacher to refuse to use pronouns that falsify the sex of a student who identifies as transgender?"

Ryan T. Anderson, with the Heritage Foundation, says this attempt at "Fairness for All creates bad policy and then tries to forestall some of its worst consequences."

He's right, it does. It forces businesses and other institutions to adopt definitions of gender they disagree with or accept behavior they consider immoral.

He says, "To impose bad public policy on one's neighbors while exempting oneself is not the way in which to serve the common good."

He notes that this kind of position leaves the definition of "discrimination" entirely at the whim of hostile bureaucrats and judges to declare that commonsense actions are "discrimination" such as refusing to bake for a same-sex "wedding" or insisting that foster or adoptive children be placed with both a mother and a father.

Pastor Welch, who was one of the Houston pastors subpoenaed, says this whole exercise by the NAE and CCCU is some kind of "solution" looking for a problem---and a very dangerous one "that is at the core of a hostile rejection of God's created order of male and female, marriage, church, moral law and civil law."

He says,
"The LGBTQIAP+  [yes that's their latest gender/identity definition] agenda is inseparable with the Darwinian evolution and perverted Kinsey amoralism. In their view we are animals. There is no God and are unstoppably driven by our hormones. They are therefore absolutely intolerant of the same premise of any moral absolutes and now even any physical, biological or scientific absolutes."

And he says they have hijacked the virtue and justice of the Civil Rights movement, that was at its very core a cause to restore culture and government policies based on God's laws of creation and justice. The Achilles Heel in the CCCU, NAE and Human Rights Campaign is extending Fourteenth Amendment 'equal protection' to behavior and state of mind."

Following the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, Justice Thurgood Marshall, the first black to serve on the Supreme Court of the United States, supported very clear legal guidelines as to who should be granted remedy for equal protection, with these guidelines:

  1. Have an inherent trait.
  2. Have a trait that is highly visible.
  3. As a class, have been disadvantaged historically (e.g., jobs, education)
  4. Are part of a group that has historically lacked effective representation in the political process.

Welch says, "With the first criteria being 'inherent trait,' the entire LGBTQIAP+ train comes off the tracks."

Homosexual behavior does not equate with ethnicity. Nor does it square with God's Word.

Pastor Welch says,
"In a nutshell, the LGBTQIAP+ movement, defined universally by non-inherent and constantly evolving sexual lifestyles and mental gymnastics fails the first test and each test thereafter."

If it isn't Fairness for All, what is it?

The pastor says it is "Special rights for a few." And he says,
"It will continue to result in civil and criminal punishment of a legitimate "suspect class" that actually does qualify---Christians who still actually believe and follow the authority of the entire canon of Holy Scripture from Genesis to Revelation."

Pastor Welch and the pastors of the US Pastor Council are asking biblical Christians to contact all US Congressman and women, all US Senators and President Trump and tell them that the CCCU and the NAE do not speak for thousands of pastors and millions of our congregants across America. And urge them to reject the ill-conceived "Fairness For All Act, as well as its LGBTQ sponsored cousin, The Equality Act."

I strongly agree.

This is particularly disappointing to me, personally, in that we have, in the past, served as state chairman and national board member of the 30-million-member NAE, and as special assistant to the president at Seattle Pacific University---both of whom support the "Fairness For All Act."

Today I find myself not only disassociated with both organizations some time ago, but now publicly standing against their position.

What are they thinking?

"Be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."

Be Informed. Be Discerning. Be Vigilant. Be Prayerful.
