Yesterday morning President Trump tweeted: "This was an illegal coup attempt on the President of the United States."
He was responding to new information that confirms that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein did, in fact, want to reverse the will of 63 million citizens who voted for Trump in a duly held election, and remove him from office.
I've seen this often in Third World countries but never thought I'd live to see the day here in America.

Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe told CBS's "60 minutes" Sunday, that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein "was not joking" when he suggested secretly recording President Donald Trump in the Oval Office following the May 2017 dismissal of FBI Director James Comey.
McCabe says right after Trump fired Comey, Rosenstein told him:
"I never get searched when I go into the White House. I could easily wear a recording device. They wouldn't know it was there."
"Now he was not joking," McCabe says, "He was absolutely serious. And in fact, he brought it up in the next meeting we had."
McCabe told "60 Minutes" that he never seriously considered doing it, but it was discussed. In fact, he says he mentioned it to the FBI's then-general counsel, James A. Baker.
Last fall, Baker told a closed-door deposition that McCabe and FBI lawyer Lisa Page came to Baker "contemporaneously" and told him details of the meeting where Rosenstein made the comments. Baker told congressional investigators he took the word of McCabe and Page "seriously."
Days later, Rosenstein appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller as a special counsel to oversee the bureau's investigation into allegations of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian officials.
McCabe says:
"Rod also raised the [25th Amendment] issue and discussed it with me in the context of thinking about how many other cabinet officials might support such an effort." He says he "believed Rosenstein was counting votes or possible votes" to remove Trump from office.
McCabe says he can't confirm exactly what was in Rosenstein's mind, "But what I can say is, the Deputy attorney general was definitely very concerned about the President, about his capacity and about his intent at that point in time."
The CBS interview then turns toward President Trump---his fitness to serve as President--- noting the many ways he has created this subversive activity---muddying the waters of truth.
McCabe, you may recall, is not known for telling the truth, either.
Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders reminded the press and the people that:
"Andrew McCabe was fired in total disgrace from the FBI because he lied to investigators on multiple occasions, including under oath. His selfish and destructive agenda drove him to open a completely baseless investigation into the President. His actions were so shameful that he was refereed to federal prosecutors."
She said, "Andrew McCabe has no credibility and is an embarrassment to the men and women of the FBI and our great country."
"Crystal clear" waters.
Mark Penn is a managing director of the Stagwell Group. He was a chief strategist on Bill Clinton's 1996 presidential campaign, Hillary's 2000 Senate campaign, and her 2008 presidential campaign.
Yes, I know...he must be a Democrat. But here's what he has to say about this matter:
"The most egregious anti-democratic actions ever taken by what can now fairly be called the Deep State are confirmed with the publication of fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe's new book detailing how the FBI and Justice Department plotted to remove President Trump from office for firing FBI Director James Comey."
"It is now crystal clear that the highest echelons of the Justice Department and FBI morphed from the world's most professional law enforcement organization into a Third World rump group. They had the hubris to believe that they---not the American people or their duly elected representatives---should decide who governs and how."
"They upended our election process, fanned partisan political flames, distorted our foreign policy by isolating us from Russia, and abused the powers of their office."
Remember that McCabe, Comey, and all the other intelligence community heads all publicly testified that no investigation has been tampered with.
Yet when Trump fired Comey, the remaining heads of intelligence refused to wait for the proper appointment of a new head of the FBI. Instead, Penn says:
"They worked themselves up into an unfounded hysteria and acted to create an independent counsel over obstruction that never happened---and was never happening."
The reason for their "hurry-up" offense was certainly to get rid of President Trump, but had they waited for "a duly nominated and confirmed agency head, their new boss may well have looked over the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants and discovered that the key evidence for them was an unverified dossier from a fired source who had materially lied to the FBI."
Penn details and clarifies the murky dealings behind this grand attempt to overthrow a duly elected President, subvert the will of the people and seize reins power themselves.
President Trump is right to call it an attempted political "coup." These men have become drunk with their own perceived importance and power.
Their acts are likely treasonous.
They are like foolish puppets who decided to be kings, who now lie crippled having cut off their own strings.
Penn ends with this:
"McCabe and Comey appear on TV, write books, and have become nakedly partisan, revealing political attitudes no different from Strzok and Page. They readily believed unsubstantiated information and then took power into their own hands."
And he says: "Every Democrat, Republican and Independent should stop angling for partisan advantage and agree, regardless of who is helped or hurt, that these officials acted without proper authority and are responsible for unprecedented damage to our democracy and our political system."
Daniel Webster (1782-1852) is thought to be the most effective Senator to ever serve our nation. He served 2 terms in the House and 1 term in the Senate. A bronze statue of Webster stands in our Capitol today in recognition of his service to America.
Webster once said:
"Hold on, my friends, to the Constitution and to the Republic for which it stands. Miracles do not cluster, and what has happened once in 6000 years, may not happen again. Hold on to the Constitution, for if the American Constitution should fail, there will be anarchy throughout the world."I would add, if we forsake the Constitution, there will be anarchy throughout our own nation, as well.
