CNN Stunned: Mexicans Want "Longer, Taller Wall"

CNN recently went to the US-Mexican border to clear things up once and for all.

They planned to show the world that there is no national emergency. And Mexicans hate Trump and "his wall."

They regret taking a closer look.

Be informed.

Monday, CNN's Miguel Marquez noted that their own polls show that 34% of Latinos approved of Trump.

CNN's Erin Burnett looked puzzled, as Marquez continued, that although a number of Latinos do not support Trump, there are plenty, especially those living along the border, who do support him.

They say there is, in fact, a border crisis and they would like to see the size of the wall "doubled" or "tripled."

Rolando Rodriguez lives about a mile from the border in McAllen, Texas. He says he wants a 2600 mile border wall that's both "longer and taller."

Rodriguez says he also supports Trump because of his stand for religious issues and "border politics." He says anyone should see that the border wall will be a barrier for "bad people" and not the "good people."

The New York Times has called Maria Elena Salinas, "The Voice of Hispanic America."

Salinas, who has been a long time anchor on the Latino Univision network, said Tuesday that "many Latinos are buying the arguments President Donald Trump is making about illegal immigration. "And she told CNN that she is saddened that Latinos "are buying some of these arguments against undocumented immigrants" that Trump has been making.

The Associated Press has also-- probably sadly so--- reported that "the GOP's position among Hispanics has not weakened during the Trump administration, despite the president's rhetoric against immigrants and the party's shift to the right on immigration."

AP also reported that 32% of Latinos voted for Republicans in the 2018 midterm elections. Some surveys found that 33% voted for GOP candidates. This prior to the recent CNN poll showing 34% support Trump's immigration policies.

And AP noted that "the stability of Republicans' share of the Latino vote frustrates Democrats, who say actions like Trump's family separation policy and his demonization of an immigrant caravan should drive Latinos out of the GOP."

Pedro Gonzalez is a 55-year-old Colombian immigrant who pastors an evangelical church in suburban Denver.

He says initially, in 2016, he didn't like Trump, but he's been heartened by the President's steps to protect religious groups and appoint judges who oppose abortion rights. More important, Gonzalez says he now sees Trump's presidency as part of a divine plan.

"It doesn't matter what I think," he says, " He was put there."

Pastor Gonzalez, once an active member of a Marxist group in Colombia, now faithfully preaches from an evangelical pulpit.

He says he sees a trend in Colorado. He distributed literature across Spanish speaking congregations supporting Republican gubernatorial candidate Walker Stapelton, who lost as did every other Republican in a statewide election.

But he's not discouraged.

He tells his congregation they are ambassadors of a higher power---the Kingdom of God. And Trump has been placed in office to protect godly values.

Sacramento, CA. based Rev. Sam Rodriguez, one of Trump's spiritual advisers, says evangelical Latinos have a clear reason to vote Republican.

He says, "Why do 30% of Latinos still support Trump? Because of the Democrat Party's obsession with abortion."

He says, "It's life and religious liberty and everything else follows."

That's what our Founding Fathers were thinking when they, in the Declaration of Independence, declared our God-given "right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

Marquez says there is still a lot of Latinos who disapprove of Trump and his border policies, but he and pro-Trump Latinos believe there is enough support among the community to get Trump re-elected in 2020.

No question, the 2020 election will be the most divisive since the times of Abraham Lincoln and the issue of slavery.

Pray for our country. Pray for the President.
