"The Squad" and the $ Millions Behind Them

In the 2018 election, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez became the youngest woman (28) ever to be elected to Congress.

From bartender to lawmaker.

In office less than a year, she is dominating the news.

And is the leader of what has become known as "The Squad" ---a group of 4 freshman lawmakers who are so far Left, Nancy Pelosi is trying, unsuccessfully, to pull them back a bit.

TIME magazine calls her a "political phenomenon."

How did she do it? And what does it mean for future elections?

Be informed.

TIME wrote a feature article on Cortez this past March titled: "The Phenom--How Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez became America's lightning rod."

It's a long, detailed and complimentary story about her "unlikely" rise, from a neighborhood in New York to her becoming a lawmaker in Congress---calling her a "Phenom."

It is indeed "unlikely."

Let's take a closer look.

The New York Times reports that Ocasio-Cortez worked as a volunteer community organizer and activist for Bernie Sander's campaign in 2016---which he lost to Hillary, but was able to defeat her opponent, long time Democrat incumbent Joseph Crowley--- who was seen as a possible successor to Nancy Pelosi as leader of the House.

Although Crowley "greatly outspent her," she won "due to her online presence," according to the Times.

Follow the money.

The Daily Caller did just that---they followed the money. It led to George Soros---and a couple of other far-Left billionaire socialists. But mostly Soros.

In an interview with the far Left media outlet, "The Young Turks," a member of a Soros-funded network of far-Left publications called, "The Media Consortium," Ocasio-Cortez admits that their coverage helped her win.

One member of the Soros-funded Media Consortium recruited Ocasio-Cortez, asking her to run for office, guaranteeing her favorable coverage by the Consortium through a network that reaches almost 300 million monthly. That's nearly the population of this country.

They are currently recruiting and/or enlisting about 400 more similar candidates.

Cenk Uygur, a member of the Soro-funded media, also founded one of the two political groups responsible for asking Ocasio-Cortez to run-- Justice Democrats---whose goal is to get Sanders-like politicians elected to Congress.

In an interview in June with Uygur on his YouTube channel, called the Young Turks, Ocasio-Cortez thanked Uygur and other related media for covering her before the primaries, which she said in "no small way" helped her win.

She said, "I wouldn't be running if it wasn't for the support of Justice Democrats and Brand New Congress that asked me to run in the first place."

The Media Consortium is a Soros media empire that, according to the conservative Media Research Council (MRC), does, in fact, reach about 300,000,000 people each month.

MRC says, "Soros funds nearly every major left-wing media source in the United States." In fact, Forty-five of those are financed through his support of the Media Consortium.

The Media Consortium is a network of the country's leading progressive independent media outlets.

Soros owns more than Ocasio-Cortez.

MRC documents that Soros-funded media includes "books, newspapers, radio stations, TV stations, websites and cutting edge web sites. They say the "pieces of George Soros media empire are as diverse as the nations of the world and just as widespread."

"From naked partisan left-wing media like 'Think Progress' to the blog for the center of American Progress, and a TV show on MSNBC, National Public Radio which received $1.8 million from Soros," and lessor media lights, MRC says Soros has control.

MRC says:
"Just counting 13 prominent operations of the 180 media organizations he has funded equals 332 million people each month. But that only takes into account a few of the bigger organizations in Soros' media empire."

MRC found that Soros has more than 30 top journalists from a number of mainstream media on the board of his various media organizations.

Two books about Soros have been written by journalists or former journalists with the New York Times. Each book was marketed as an unbiased look at the wonderful philanthropy of George Soros. One self-serving book is actually titled, "The Philanthropy of George Soros."

He has a group called "Free Press" which sponsors events that appear to be exploring public interest issues, when in fact, they are pushing Soros' open borders agenda.

Example: Nancy Pelosi headlined a Boston conference on media reform recently. She was joined on stage by four other congressmen, a senator, two FCC commissioners, a Nobel laureate and a swarm of so-called progressive journalists from across the country. Big TV and Big newspapers.

The real agenda was Soros' agenda; to push "net neutrality" and government-funded media to the tune of $35 billion per year---over much of which he has significant content control.

Free Press, Center for American Progress, Think Progress, Center for Public Integrity, Center for Investigative Reporting, Media Matters and the Sundance Institute, are among his most heavily funded organizations. There are hundreds more.

In addition, Soros' foundations have given at least 34 grants through 2010 totaling $3.4 million to local NPR member stations, while specific programs on NPR have received another $3.4 million.

MRC concludes that Soros funds nearly every Left-wing media source in the United States---45 of those are financed through his support of the Media Consortium.

Which brings us back to the "unlikely" rise of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Her cohorts on what is now called "The Squad" are also the benefactors of Soros money.

Soros is a multi-billionaire who has committed his fortune to removing the borders of all nations, advancing a far-Left secular progressive agenda for mankind---ultimately creating a one-world community.

He is globalism personified.

A recent report by Media Consortium details how they have created an "echo chamber of outlets" in which a message pushes the public and the mainstream media to acknowledge, respond and give airtime to secular progressive ideas because it is repeated so many times it appears to be news. And it appears to have wide acceptance when in fact it often does not.

The report is called, "The Big Thaw."

It also says, "If done well, the message within the echo chamber can become the accepted meme, impact political dynamics, shift public opinion and change public policy."

This battle is real.

And it is for the soul of our country and our culture.

It is with that in mind that we write this column and produce our live radio program every weekday. We may not be able to slay all the giants---but we take our sling and stones and do what we can do.

We are impacting people, and shifting public opinion to a degree that only God can measure.

I want to thank those of you who financially support our efforts with your tax-deductible contributions, allowing us to do what we do every weekday.

If you don't support this effort, since you're here, why not consider it?

Remember:
"We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places" (Eph. 6:12).
