9/11 Senate Hearing--No Mention of Islamic Terrorism

The Senate Hearing meeting held Monday on the topic of homeland security was strangely void of any mention of Islamic Terrorism.

It wasn't because the senators and their guest experts forgot---they were meeting in the National 9/11 Memorial & Museum in New York City. A place that was once called "Ground Zero."

Although the committee may have neglected the obvious, they clearly identified the "real" enemies of our homeland.

Be informed.

The meeting, held just two days before the 18th anniversary of 9/11 included former Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff and former directors of the Department of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano and Jeh Johnson.

Islamic terrorism was not mentioned, and "jihadi terrorists" were referenced 3 times, in passing, by Chertoff.

The real threat is, you guessed it---"climate change."

Meeting at the site on Monday where Islamic Terrorists flew airplanes into two World Trade Center buildings, while one plane was crashed into a field in Pennsylvania because the passengers gave their lives to subdue the terrorist pilots and crash the plane into a field rather than another building, these "public servants and homeland security experts" identified "climate change" as America's "existential threat."

Gary Peters (D-MI) said: "Climate change poses an 'existential threat' to America and Earth."

Janet Napolitano also framed "climate change" and "global warming" as national security threats that must be prioritized by our federal government.

They concluded that "climate evolution" is so significant that we must reorder the mission of FEMA, our Coast Guard, and other governmental agencies.

Napolitano said, "The US border with Mexico is not a threat to homeland security---What we do not need is border wall from one end of the border to the other."

She said, "Show me a 10-foot wall and I'll show you an 11-foot ladder." She urged the committee to put an end to any discussion about a border wall.

Nearly as existentially threatening to homeland security is "guns."

Jeh Johnson said. "Gun safety, gun safety, gun safety," listing his top three national priorities. He also said he "still supports Obama's refusal to use the term 'Islamic terrorism'."

While these folks say they "support the Second Amendment," their words and deeds betray them.

Napolitano said, "I think that universal background checks is a good step towards greater security for our country"---translated: towards gun confiscation---"But it is a first step."

They have forgotten 9/11. Or they have chosen to ignore the truth.

Some people suffer when they remember.

The New York Times noted yesterday that "it can happen abruptly, while flipping through reruns of 'Friends' or rewatching a movie like 'Armageddon' or 'Working Girl'."

They also point out that the film industry has carefully considered how to eliminate scenes from 9/11 so those who were there won't have to relive it.

I understand that. Most of us do. We can't know what it was really like if we were not in one of the Towers, or walking down a New York City sidewalk when the terrorists struck. Or we lost a loved one in the terrorist attack.

However, in our compassion, I sincerely hope we don't erase the visual history of this monumental event in the life of America. Which is what I believe the Senate Committee meeting on Monday---on that site---was all about.

A look back at 9/11.

Smoke pours from the twin towers of the World Trade Center after they were hit by two hijacked airliners in a terrorist attack September 11, 2001 in New York City.

Takeaway

Clearly, 9/11 was an attack by Islamic Terrorists, one we could identify as "from without." America must remain vigilant in regards to homeland security. There are those Islamic Terrorists who want to kill and destroy America.

There are also those who seek to destroy from within, who are neither Islamic nor terrorists---but equally destructive.

The Roman Senator, Statesman and Orator, Cicero, defined them as the enemy within:

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.”
~ Marcus Tullius Cicero (106-43 B.C.)

American Founding Father Patrick Henry reminded us that when "A nation forgets God, Tyrants forge their chains."

We must never forget 9/11. More importantly, we must never forget that God is our source of blessing and protection.

Be Prayerful. Be Discerning. Be Vigilant.
