Chick-fil-A Caves To LGBTQ

It pains me to write this---in fact, I don't want to write it...

Chick-fil-A will stop future donations to The Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes following years of backlash from the LGBTQ community.

In fact, they will not be donating to any organization deemed to be biased against the LGBTQ agenda.

Here's the sad story.

Be informed.

Chick-fil-A said Monday, "We made multiyear commitments to both organizations, and we fulfilled those obligations in 2018."

The spokesman said, "Moving forward you will see that the Chick-fil-A Foundation will support the three specific initiatives of homelessness, hunger, and education."

A quick look at the past.

Samuel Truett Cathy (S. Truett Cathy) founded Chick-fil-A in 1946.

Truett died in 2014 with a net worth of about $4.2 billion. He often publicly shared that he built the company to reflect his personal biblical beliefs--kindness, respect, integrity, etc.---he was an evangelical. He refused to open his stores on Sunday because that is the Lord's day," he said.

And he said he wanted to provide a great chicken sandwich.

His son Dan Cathy had been serving as COO of the privately held company. Dan is now chairman, president and CEO of the company since his father's passing. His current net worth is about $6.6 billion.

For 68 years Truett steadfastly stood for his deeply held biblical beliefs.

In 2012, Dan was asked by several people about his personal beliefs regarding marriage. Each time he explained that he believed in the biblical teaching that marriage is one man and one woman.

Homosexuals across the country assaulted him, calling him a hater, a bigot and words we don't print here.

Clark Howard, a friend of Dan's, asked him about his alleged anti-gay beliefs in a television interview in 2012.

Dan repeated his personal beliefs about marriage, explaining that he did not hate anyone, but holds deep Christian, Biblical beliefs.

A nationwide boycott was launched by the homosexual community.

Mike Huckabee, a friend of the Cathy family, says he was "incensed by the vitriolic assaults on the Chick-fil-A company" over the Cathy family "taking a stance for their personal beliefs."

So Huckabee launched a national "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day." He asked all Christians and conservatives to visit a Chick-fil-A. And he asked them not to engage in any conflict or inappropriate words with those who may be picketing Chick-fil-A.

America responded. Chick-fil-A sales spiked setting records in sales. They have never returned to the original levels.

America responded. It was a watershed moment for an already highly successful company.

And it made a statement that Christians usually know when to show up.

When The Salvation Army heard the news Monday, they said they were "saddened."

The sadness.

When Mike Huckabee heard the news yesterday he too was saddened and regretful.

In fact, he Tweeted: "In Aug 2012, I coordinated a national@ChickfilA Appreciation Day after they were being bullied by militant hate groups. Millions showed up. Today , @ChickfilA betrayed loyal customers for $$. I regret believing they would stay true to convictions of founder Truett Cathy, Sad."

The Salvation Army said,
"We are saddened to learn that a corporate partner has felt it necessary to divert funding to other hunger, education and homelessness organizations---areas in which The Salvation Army, as the largest social services provider in the world, is already fully committed.

The Patriot Post said yesterday, "In a recent interview ...Chick-fil-A's new COO Tim Tassopoulos [who reports to Dan Cathy] seemed to suggest that Chick-fil-A will no longer be donating to Christian organizations that are deemed to be 'anti-LGBTQ'."

Then the Post said this:

To put it bluntly, the leadership at Chick-fil-A is retreating under pressure from the Rainbow Mafia’s “anti-LGBT” cudgel. While it’s entirely understandable why a company whose primary objective is to sell tasty chicken sandwiches with top-quality service would want that to be its principal identity, the truth is that, since its founding, Chick-fil-A has represented so much more. Like it or not, Chick-fil-A stands at the forefront of the culture war as a Christian fast-food chain, and that is precisely because founder S. Truett Cathy chose to put the convictions of his Christian faith ahead of profits. This is why, to this day, all Chick-fil-A stores are closed on Sundays.
This is also why the company’s founders boldly did what few corporations dare – support the historic context of marriage as between a man and woman, as upheld by every major religion worldwide. And this explains why Chick-fil-A has long been a target of the Rainbow Mafia, as it represents faithful Christianity in the business world. The problem with the present controversial decision goes beyond a surrender to the Left’s demands on sexuality; it’s a violation of Cathy’s founding commitment to never compromise his Christian principles in favor of profit. Sadly, it appears that concerns over profit and growth are exactly what motivated this capitulation.
Ironically, this decision may end up costing Chick-fil-A that very profit through conservative backlash. CEO Dan Cathy needs to immediately set the record straight as to whether there has been any misrepresentation of the reasoning behind this decision or he risks losing some of his company’s massive Christian customer base.

Dr. Michael Brown in his appeal to Chick-fil-A to reverse their decision said this:

I urge, you, then to listen to your constituents and to reverse your decision.
We will all honor you for doing what is right and will forgive your wrong decision.
Reverse yourself today, and you’ll be blessed tomorrow.
Reverse yourself today, and the good feelings will remain. (As for haters, they will continue to hate.)
Stay with your wrong decision, and you’ll leave a bad taste in your constituents’ mouths.
Is that what you really desire?

You will hear much more about this today and in the days following. We'll see which path Chick-fil-A chooses.
