The Electronic Octopus

Several of conservatism's finest minds are sounding the alarm regarding the assault on our God-given rights and freedom.

In fact, some are characterizing the newly energized attacks as the "Electronic Octopus", because it is "strangling the thoughts and speech of an increasingly unfree America."

Be informed, not misled.

Highly respected conservative and intellectual Victor Davis Hanson wrote yesterday,

"Two days after the 2020 election, a defiant Kathy Griffin retweeted the notorious picture of her holding a prop that looked like the bloody head of a decapitated Donald Trump. Earlier last year, Iran's supreme leader, Ayatolla Ali Khamenei, tweeted out a call to his followers to destroy Israel."

"Both tweets," he says "passed the censorship rules of Twitter's 20-something judges in San Francisco."

In contrast, Hanson notes that Trump has been banned for life from Twitter and barred indefinitely from Facebook, with Zuckerberg now saying it will also likely be a lifelong ban.

Why was this decision made?

"Due to the risk of further incitement of violence."

Once lawlessness was unrestrained....

After the November election with the Democrats now controlling the House, the Senate, and the presidency--- and following the January 6 protest, which included a splinter of the massive crowd illegally entering the Capitol Building, the hatred of Trump masked as love of country and righteous outrage spilled over and is now infecting nearly every part of our country.

The "outrage" included removing Trump, still president of the United States, from social media platforms---for life.

Ordinary people across the nation were scared and angry so they retreated to lesser-known social media sites. In particular the more conservative platform "Parler."

But in near unison, Google, Apple, and Amazon removed Parler from their platforms putting it offline---dark. Yesterday, a news release said Parler may not be able to come back.

Sen Josh Hawley of Missouri had his upcoming book---a call for Congress to clamp down on Big Tech monopolies---abruptly canceled by publisher Simon & Schuster.

Why?

Because, Sen. Hawley and Sen. Ted Cruz questioned the authenticity of the 2020 election.

Vicki Osterweil wrote the book, "In Defense of Looting," to justify the theft and property destruction that took place night after night after night this past year---and is continuing in some cities. The book was about justifying the illegal activity of Black Lives Matter and Antifa.

Her book was so well received it was featured on National Public Radio to their national audience.

The double standard

Why has Madonna not been banned from social media? Shortly after the 2017 inauguration, she said publicly that she wanted to "blow up the White House" with the Trump family in it.

Remember rapper Raz Simone on Seattle's Capitol Hill last summer.? Armed with his AK-47 he took over a good part of Seattle's Capitol Hill, declaring it an "autonomous zone."

For weeks his armed guards reigned over the little "kingdom" while leftist Mayor Jenny Durkan stood down, stood by, and called it nothing more than a "summer of love."

Only after at least 4 shootings and two deaths around Simone's kingdom did the "progressives" of Seattle take any action. He was neither prosecuted nor removed from social media. And the lyrics of his song "Shoot at Everyone" are full of illusions to violence, racial slurs, and stereotypes. The song is still on YouTube.

Politicians are getting paid by "we citizens" to run our country as our representatives. However, big tech owns most of them and has taken over not only the flow of information, but moral authority as well.

Victor Davis Hanson tells how over a century ago the oil, railroad, telegraph, and power industries created huge monopolies.

"Some people," he says, "likened the huge trusts to octopuses whose tentacles strangled freedom."

In reaction, politicians passed anti-trust laws.

However today the politicians, Wall Street, the media, academia, Hollywood, and professional sports are all on the same side of the mega-rich tech cartels, Hanson says.

Will the electronic octopus tentacles reach into our religious freedoms?

The wife of Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) said this week that the Joe Biden administration "will be just as strong" as the Trump administration on the issue of religious freedom.

While Gayle Manchin and her husband, Sen. Joe Manchin, are undoubtedly the most conservative Democrats in Congress, I doubt she's right.

Gayle serves as chair of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom and says she's spoken with the Biden transition team about religious freedom.

Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League, says he too believes Biden will be open to working with the USCIRF and their affiliated groups, but when it comes to our own country, not so much.

He says Biden's track record on religious freedom here in the US is "abysmal."

While praising Trump for his religious liberty policies, he said Biden's "been in office for almost half a century. I follow this rather carefully and I don't know of a single piece of legislation he's ever penned. If he's in favor of the 1993 Religious Freedom Restoration Act, well that's rather deceitful because he's now in favor of the Equality Act which, if passed...would literally destroy the Religious Freedom Restoration Act signed into law under President Bill Clinton."

Donohue says he even has greater concern regarding Kamala Harris. As California's A/G, she directed her office to lead the raid on Center for Medical Progress (CMP) leader David Daleiden after his organization released undercover videos exposing Planned Parenthood's fetal tissue sales practices.

Donohue says Harris has a long history of actions regarding religious freedom---and it is not good.

It appears the "tentacles of the octopus" will also be reaching into the matters of the church and our religious freedoms.

George Washington said, "Religion and morality are the essential pillars of civil society."

And I would add---this is a time when we'll be required to defend it.
