Equality Act: "Deceptive And Conscience-Crushing"

Candidate Joe Biden promised the far-left if they would elect him to the presidency he would pass the so-called "Equality Act" in his first 100 days in office.

Now President Joe Biden, who often struggles to remember many things, has not forgotten his promise to the LGBTQ community to force this deceptive, conscience-crushing, Orwellian legislation on America.

Enabling the president, 3 Senators, including Democrat Jeff Merkley of Oregon, have reintroduced the bill to the Senate, while Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI) has reintroduced it to the House where it has previously passed.

The legislation does not create "equality"---it strikes at the very heart of our culture, turning "equality" on its head.

Please be informed, not misled.

The deceptively titled Equality Act.

The bill was reintroduced last Thursday in the House and will be reintroduced this week in the Senate.

Democrat Senators Jeff Merkley (OR), Cory Booker (NJ), and Tammy Baldwin (WIS.) announced the introduction of the bill into the Senate this week, while Democrat Rep. David Cicilline (RI) introduced it to the House last week.

Merkley says, "

None of us should have to keep our families hidden or pretend to be some one we're not to do those things"...claiming "in 29 states Americans can still be evicted, be thrown out of a restaurant, or be denied a loan because of who they are or whom they love. We all love the vision of America as a land of freedom of equality, but are we willing to take the steps to make that vision closer to reality?"

Booker says, "This legislation signifies the best of who we are as Americans"...but, "the fact that we even need this legislation reflects the worst of who we are."

"If we are going to celebrate ideals of liberty and freedom, we must have comprehensive and nationwide protections for LGBTQ+ Americans," Booker says.

The Equality Act does not "provide protections," nor does it validate "America as the land of the free."

It essentially turns equality on its head and forces a chosen lifestyle of perversion on freedom-loving, God-fearing people across our country.

The consequences of the Equality Act.

Kristen Waggoner, general counsel at the First Amendment law firm Alliance Defending Freedom, and friend to many in this area, including myself, said Thursday:

"This proposed legislation punishes and marginalizes people who hold decent and honorable beliefs about marriage and dare to believe the scientific evidence regarding the physical differences between men and women. The Equality Act would deny female athletes fair competition in sports, ignore women's unique health needs, and force vulnerable girls to share intimate spaces with men who identify as women."

She said, "Many in our nation respectfully disagree on important issues such as marriage and human sexuality. Unfortunately, the Equality Act criminalizes these very beliefs held by major faith groups since the dawn of time and, instead demands absolute uniformity of thought."

Waggoner says the Act "dares to treat reasonable people as hostile to the state and unfit to participate in the marketplace."

Ryan T. Anderson, president of the Ethics and Public Policy Center, also reacted to the announcements.

He called the deceptive legislation "Orwellian"---saying "it isn't drafted as a shield to protect vulnerable minorities from unjust discrimination, but as a sword to persecute those who do not embrace new sexual and gender ideologies."

It is also an all-out attack on women. Anderson explains, "It sacrifices the equality, safety, and privacy of women while privileging men who identify as women."

For example, if this bill becomes law, men will have a right to spend the night in a battered women's shelter, disrobe in a women's locker room, and compete on a women's sports team, even in grades K-12 in public schools.

This so-called Equality Act will also impact religious institutions causing them to possibly face federal sanction for operating according to basic biology and conservative evangelical biblical teaching on sex and marriage.

Anderson says "under the Act...Pope Francis would be treated as the legal equivalent of a Jim Crow segregationist."

He notes:

"Medical doctors---secular and religious---whose expert conclusion is that sex-reassignment procedures are misguided would now run afoul of our civil rights laws. And any refusal to support or provide abortions would now be treated as 'pregnancy' discrimination. And no one--- not even the acts sponsors--- can tell us what would be required under the act to avoid committing 'discrimination' in the case of non-binary gender identities."

Could this possibly become law?

Absolutely. They've tried it before and failed, but things have changed. Last time around with this bill, the House approved it. It was then sent to the Senate where it was never brought up for a vote.

It will probably pass the House again.

However, in the Senate, the Democrats and the Republicans have an equal number of seats. Vice President Harris now has the tie-breaking vote if needed. However, in most cases, this kind of legislation requires a 60-vote majority.

But this is not detouring the Democrats. There is talk of the Democrats invoking the so-called "nuclear option" which would then enable legislation to pass the Senate with a simple majority, which would give the Democrats a one-vote majority when Harris's vote is counted.

Should all that fail, there is talk on the left of including this bill with other legislation such as budget items, etc.

The takeaway.

History proves that powerful Spirit-anointed preaching of God's Word transforms the soul and the culture. A societal transformation, like that seen in the First and Second Great Awakenings in America.

The responsibility for this bill even existing, can be laid first at the feet of the Christian Church in America---specifically at the pulpit of those churches, and secondly at the feet of politicians that should never have been elected.

The great Presbyterian pastor/evangelist Charles Finney said, "I do not believe in preaching political sermons," however:

"If immorality prevails in the land, the fault is ours in a great degree. If there is decay of conscience, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the public press lacks moral discrimination, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the church is degenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible for it. If Satan rules in the halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it. If our politics become so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it."

He called Christians and Christian leaders to "lay it to heart, and be thoroughly awake to our responsibility in respect to the morals of this nation."

It's time to awaken.
