UW Professor: Science Alone..."Not Enough"

The University of Washington Medical Center’s chief of medicine recently said that “science alone can’t solve the fairness debate on transgender athletes.”

It's interesting how scientists abandon "science" when it becomes inconvenient.

Yesterday, it was Dr. Fauci. Today, it's Dr. Bradley Anawat at the University of Washington declaring, “There can be no scientific answer to what is fair […] there is never going to be a perfect answer, and there is always going to be some level of controversy” regarding trans-female athletes.

Be informed, not misled.

Parents are getting sick and tired of seeing their daughters exposed to male athletes in their locker room pretending to be girls while now beginning to take the trophies that rightfully belong to actual girls. And the scholarships.

Confusion

The Spokane, Washington Spokesman-Review said, "In recent years, the debate has gripped society regarding whether it is fair to allow transgender women to participate in women’s sports. One University of Washington professor believes an answer to the debate cannot be found in science or simple biology."

"According to Dr. Bradley Anawalt, the science of whether transgender women have an advantage in sports remains up in the air. But even if studies showed crystal-clear results, both sides of the debate would still have points to make over what kind of society we all want," he said.

“There can be no scientific answer to what is fair. There is never going to be a perfect answer and there is always going to be some level of controversy,” he said.

The College Fix reports, "Anawat noted sex-related athletic differences come about during puberty when those who experience “testosterone-based puberty” (aka boys) gain advantages over those who go through “estrogen-based puberty” (aka girls).

The Fix also notes, "Anawat said there are a 'limited number of studies' regarding how long 'differences in strength and power disappear' via hormone replacement."

He pointed to a 2021 “metastudy,” which notes it may take 1-3 years for hormone therapy to bring trans-female athletes’ testosterone levels down to that of their cisgender counterparts.

“Much remains unknown,” he said, adding that testosterone-based advantages could be eliminated if “testosterone-based puberties” are prevented outright.

The article claims puberty blockers are “fully reversible” and “pause puberty development to give the transgender youth more time and maturity to make a more permanent decision.”

The Washington State Interscholastic Activities Association’s “Gender Diverse Youth Sport Inclusivity Toolkit” states that the participation of “transfeminine” athletes “has not been shown to diminish opportunities for others.”

Controversy

That is simply not true.

Just last week, a trans-female high school athlete won the 400-meter race at the state (girls) track and field championships. The WIAA claimed the winner was the first transgender athlete to win a Washington state final. The winner's sex was assigned male at birth.

KREM 2 News reported this from SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash: "A transgender East Valley High School student from Spokane Valley won a Washington state track and field state championship title over the weekend. Some critics claim it wasn't a fair race."

KREM says, "When it came time to award medals at the podium, all the athletes cheered for one another. But when the winner's name was called, the stadium went almost silent, some even booed. Meanwhile, the other athletes put their hands behind their backs."

Beth Daranciang filmed this and the 400-meter race on her phone.

"They must have been hurting and seething inside," she said.

She told KREM 2 she went to the state meet to protest a transgender athlete competing in women's sports. She said she's against this because she calls it a biological advantage.

"Sports is not about identity. It's about pure physical competition," Daranciang said. "It should be fair. We have 'girls' sports because boys biology advantages them in many sports."

The Spokane Odyssey Youth Movement also shared this statement, which concluded with: "Odyssey Youth Movement staff, mentors, & participants would like to extend our congratulations to Veronica and the East Valley team on their recent win...School activities and extracurriculars are designed for the growth and development of ALL students and we as a community should be working together to support & uplift every student in Washington State."

Takeaway

The Heritage Foundation summarizes their in-depth article on why boys should not compete against girls in sports.

  • Fair competition in women’s sports remains under attack as male athletes continue to join and compete on women’s teams and against women.
  • Many transgender athletes are still competing in women’s sports with significantly higher levels of testosterone than that of biological women.
  • It’s a denial of science and shows a complete disregard for fairness to say that a male athlete who identifies as female is just the same as the biological females.

No matter how many hormones a biological male takes, every time he competes against a female, he has an unfair advantage.

It’s a denial of science and shows a complete disregard for fairness to say that a male athlete who identifies as female is just the same as the biological females.

In the last letter (2 Timothy) the Apostle Paul wrote to the Church, he said (chapter 3)...

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

I agree with the professor, "There can be no scientific answer" to the problems we have created through our rebellion against God, the Creator.

It is a spiritual matter, not a scientific or biological matter.

May God help us in our great time of need.

Faith in God through Jesus Christ is the only path back to restoration, sanity, and normalcy.
