Coach Dungy vs Kamala: "Exactly What Faith Are You Talking About?"

On September 19, 2024, Kamala Harris posted on X: "One does not have to abandon their faith or deeply held beliefs to agree: The government, and certainly Donald Trump, should not be telling a woman what to do with her body.

One of the greatest NFL coaches of all time, Tony Dungy, slammed Kamala Harris' abortion comment, asking, "What faith are you talking about?"

That's a great question to ask not only of the woman who wants to be president but also of all of America.

What faith are we talking about?

Be informed, not misled.

Hall of Fame football coach Tony Dungy, a devout Christian and the first black head coach to win a Super Bowl, publicly criticized Vice President Kamala Harris' recent assertion that one's faith need not be compromised to support abortion rights.

Dungy, a 68-year-old who became the first black head coach to win a Super Bowl in 2007 with Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts, issued a pointed critique of a recent statement the Democratic presidential nominee made on social media Thursday afternoon.

"One does not have to abandon their faith or deeply held beliefs to agree: The government, and certainly Donald Trump, should not be telling a woman what to do with her body," Harris wrote.

Coach Dungy responded on X:

"Dear VP Harris: I hear you make this statement all the time. Exactly what “faith” are you talking about when you say you don’t have to abandon it to support abortion?  Are you talking about the Christian faith that says all babies are made in the image of God (Gen 1:26), that God places them in the womb (Jer 1:5), and that we should not take any life unjustly (Luke 18:20)?  Are you talking about that faith or some nebulous, general “faith” that says we’re good enough and smart enough to make our own decisions?  What “faith” are you talking about?"

Dungy, an outspoken Christian who has fostered over 100 children and adopted eight with his wife, stated that the Christian faith is "pro-life."

Throughout his career and retirement, Dungy has not shied away from using his platform to discuss deep-seated beliefs and advocate for what he considers to be the core values of Christian faith and family. Dungy has a history of defending and promoting pro-life positions.

In the past, Dungy "applauded" Baltimore Ravens tight end Benjamin Watson, an outspoken Christian, for his widely read comments opposing abortion and Planned Parenthood.

"I applaud my brother @BenjaminSWatson for speaking the truth on a controversial issue. Thank you," Dungy's tweet read.

Dungy was responding to a tweet posted by pro-life activist group Live Action, which published an article summarizing comments that Watson made in 2017 in an interview with the pro-life Turning Point Pregnancy Resource Center.

In that article, Watson said he’s not alone in his views in the NFL, where some players “are believers or have views that I agree with, but they don’t want to talk about it in a public forum. One-on-one they’ll talk about it, but Twitter, Facebook, or authoring a book about a polarizing topic? They don’t want to touch it.”

He weighed in on Planned Parenthood videos awhile back, writing on Facebook, “As horrific as it is, the issue isn’t really the sale of human parts. It’s the legal practice that allows this to even be a possibility. Killing children and simply discarding the leftovers is not any more acceptable than profiting off of them.”

Watson faced some backlash for those comments, although few disputed Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger’s ideological support for eugenics. She founded the “Negro Project,” hiring black preachers to convince their congregations to take birth control or get sterilized. Sanger wrote at one point that all citizens should be required to obtain a “birth permit” from the government before giving birth.

CBS Sports reported that “some might be surprised to hear Watson come out and say that eliminating blacks is ‘working.’” African Americans have fallen behind Hispanics as the largest minority in the nation.

He was not alone at that time in sounding the alarm about the disproportionate impact abortion has on the African-American community. “For every 1,000 black babies born alive, there are 1,100 aborted each year in” New York City.

Yet, so-called "civil rights leaders," including the NAACP, call this deliberate destruction "reproductive justice."

Kamala Harris and others who claim to have a "faith" call abortion "women's reproductive healthcare."

You can change the name to "justice" or "healthcare," but you can't change the truth. It's abortion. And abortion is killing an unwanted, unborn child.

What kind of faith labels the act of abortion righteous or even acceptable?

Another gospel.

The Apostle Paul wrote to the Galatians (1:6-12) regarding another gospel: "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed."

Abortion or offering babies to idols for sacrifice is spoken of in some of the oldest pages of the Bible.

While we may not offer our unwanted children to the idol Moloch, we have created new ways to worship ancient false gods and call it "healthcare." Or a woman's "right."

The prophet Jeremiah condemns practices associated with Moloch as showing infidelity to Yahweh [22].

And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to set apart their sons and their daughters unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into My mind, that they should do this abomination; to cause Judah to sin" (Jeremiah 32:35).

Faith in the true and living God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ supports life and its sanctity.

The "other gospels" do not.
