Yesterday, a new Gallup Poll was released measuring the amount of "Pride" or Patriotism Americans hold for our country.
Both the Associated Press and the Patriot Post published articles about the new poll.
The Associated Press began with "National pride is declining in America."
The Patriot Post began with "SHOCKER: Dems Hate America."
The AP story will be carried in newspapers and used for content in local TV stations.
While the Patriot Post is widely read, it will not, for the most part, be republished in local news outlets.
A closer look.
Be informed, not misled.
AP begins with this: "Only 36% of Democrats say they’re 'extremely' or 'very' proud to be American, according to a new Gallup poll, reflecting a dramatic decline in national pride that’s also clear among young people."
"The findings are a stark illustration of how many — but not all — Americans have felt less of a sense of pride in their country over the past decade. The split between Democrats and Republicans, at 56 percentage points, is at its widest since 2001. That includes all four years of Republican President Donald Trump’s first term," the AP says.
You must read on before you discover that it is the Democrats- the Left- that have no pride in our country.
The casual reader will remember that a lot of people don't like America anymore. And it must be true, because I read it in the newspaper.
The poll shows that it is the Democratic Party that doesn't like America.
- 92% of Republicans say they are "extremely" or "very" proud to be an American.
- 36% of Democrats feel the same.
“Each generation is less patriotic than the prior generation, and Gen Z is definitely much lower than anybody else,” said Jeffrey Jones, a senior editor at Gallup. “But even among the older generations, we see that they’re less patriotic than the ones before them, and they’ve become less patriotic over time. That’s primarily driven by Democrats within those generations.”
Most of this survey outcome is driven by the Democrats.
AP points out that Democrats’ diminished pride in being American is more clearly linked to Trump’s time in office. When Trump first entered the White House in 2017, about two-thirds of Democrats reported being proud to be American. That had fallen to 42% by 2020, just before Trump lost reelection to Democrat Joe Biden.
But while Democrats’ sense of national pride rebounded when Biden took office, it didn’t go back to its pre-Trump levels.
However, “It’s not just a Trump story,” Jones said. “Something else is going on, and I think it’s just younger generations coming in and not being as patriotic as older people.”
Douglas Andrews, with The Patriot Post says, "Take, for example, a new Gallup poll, just in time for the Independence Day holiday. Its headline tells us that American pride has slipped to a new low. A new low? Wasn’t the old low low enough?"
Digging into the data of this survey, which has been taken annually since 2001, we find that 58% of respondents are “extremely” (41%) or “very” (17%) proud to be American. That’s down 9% from last year — last year, when a near-catatonic Joe Biden was auto-penning his way through the presidency and America was getting sand kicked in its face by China, Russia, Iran, the European Union, and every south-of-the-border country that emptied its prisons and its mental institutions and sent its dregs northward. Furthermore, that 58% number is down 5% from the previous record low, which was registered in 2020.
Last year, we were the unmitigated laughingstock of the world, and our nation was in the throes of the worst and most embarrassing presidency in American history. And yet this year, this restorative year, we hit a record low in American pride.
How are we to explain this? Two words: Trump and Democrats.
As Gallup reports: “Democrats are mostly responsible for the drop in U.S. pride this year, with 36% saying they are extremely or very proud, down from 62% a year ago. This is only the second time Democrats’ pride has fallen below the majority level, along with a 42% reading in 2020, the last year of the first Trump administration. That poll was conducted during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic and shortly after the murder [sic] of George Floyd by Minneapolis police officers.”
Thus, the return to the Oval Office of Donald Trump — the man whom both Saudi princes and Israeli prime ministers are now hailing, the man who recently registered a record-high job-approval number, the man who last week enjoyed a series of events and outcomes that are perhaps unrivaled in the 249-year history of our nation — has caused the Democrats’ pride in our nation to tank.
Who knew that the restoration of American prestige around the globe could be such a downer for those on the Left?
Frankly, everyone knew. Democrat disdain for America is nothing new, even if it’s reached new, er, heights under Donald Trump. Here at The Patriot Post, we’ve been covering this terrain for quite some time.
Going back even further, we all remember the self-directed fear and loathing immediately after 9/11, after that murderous jihadist attack on our nation. “We had it coming” was a common refrain on the Left. So was, “This is a case of the chickens coming home to roost.”
Public education is also "coming home to roost."
Of those and other slurs, author Daniel Flynn, who in 2002 literally wrote the book on the Left’s hatred of America, had this to say:
"Such misguided statements weren’t uttered in Tehran or Baghdad but in American college towns with more familiar-sounding names — Madison, Morgantown, and Boulder. As the rest of America came together in the wake of the horrific terrorist attacks, some on campus exploited the tragedy to bash the United States and attribute the cause of the attacks to old grudges. Patriotic students and faculty were punished, and pro-American speech was stifled."
Indeed, like the scorpion that stings the frog, blaming America is a reflexive act on the Left. It’s what they do.
Takeaway
Over the past couple of generations, our school-age children have mandatorily sat in classrooms not being educated, but indoctrinated.
Not only have they been taught to question their gender, but also the faith of their parents as well.
Parents have been told their children are not their own, and the state, not the parents, will educate the children.
Public education has claimed, including recently, that the children belong to the schools. Last week, a teachers' union leader in Chicago claimed the kids belong to the teachers' union. I mentioned it on our radio program.
They have also been taught a false history of the United States.
The Left has systematically rewritten the history of our country, teaching our sons and daughters that America is not a nation blessed by God, but one that was founded on slavery and theft and greed.
Our children have been taught we are no longer a nation under God, but a secular nation that has no room for God. He has been expelled from the classroom, leaving room for the study of false gods and atheism.
Now the Left has come to loathe America in the same way they have taught our children to do.
However, a change is in the air.
We not only have a president who is committed to changing the course of human events for our country, but he has chosen a cabinet that is equally committed.
