It's been in discussion for several years, but when President Trump made the decision to do it, the Left began wailing over the $300 million it will cost and the history that will be lost.
Associated Press said, "The entire White House East Wing has been demolished as President Donald Trump moves forward with construction of a ballroom."
The East Wing, where first ladies created history, planned state dinners, and promoted causes, is now history itself. The two-story structure of drawing rooms and offices, including workspace for first ladies and their staffs, has been turned into rubble, demolished as part of the Republican president’s plan to build a ballroom nearly twice the size of the White House at an updated cost of $300 million.
The AP and the Leftist media forced this to be the primary news story over the weekend.
But why?
Be informed, not misled.
Via the Associated Press:
Trump says that keeping the East Wing as is would have “hurt a very, very expensive, beautiful building,” referring to the ballroom that he said presidents have wanted for years. He said he and "some friends of mine” will pay for the ballroom at no cost to taxpayers.
Betty Ford reportedly said that if the White House West Wing is the “mind” of the nation, then the East Wing — the traditional power center for first ladies — is the “heart.”
That “heart” beat for more than 100 years as first ladies and their teams worked from their East Wing offices on everything from stopping drug abuse and boosting literacy to beautifying and preserving the White House itself. It's where they planned White House state dinners and brainstormed the elaborate themes that are a feature of the U.S. holiday season.
That history came to an end after wrecking crews tore down the wing's two stories of offices and reception rooms last week. Gone is an in-house movie theater, and a covered walkway to the White House captured in so many photos over the years. An East Wing garden that was dedicated to Jacqueline Kennedy was also uprooted, photographs show.
The Left weeps and bawls over something they loathe: History.
They have worked tirelessly to rewrite the Constitution and our US History. They have even tried to teach our kids that America was not founded in 1776, but in 1619, when the first slave ship landed on American shores.
Chelsea Clinton trips over her parents.
In an attempt to appeal to the voting public, they keep telling us the White House is 'The People's House' and we should somehow be offended that President Trump is using private funds to build a ballroom that future administrations will use.
Former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton is the latest to jump on that bandwagon and make a fool of herself.
Chelsea wrote: "President Donald Trump has the right – and clearly has raised the private funds – to pave over the Rose Garden (and denude it of roses) as well as turn the East Wing into a ballroom."
Still, with less than a year until we celebrate our country’s 250th anniversary, it is unsettling that such substantial alterations to the 225-year-old People’s House are being undertaken without a historic-preservation review and seemingly without the involvement of any historians, and I would love to be proven wrong here
A disregard for history is a defining trait of President Trump’s second administration. Reports indicate he has directed the Smithsonian Institution and the National Park Service to censor exhibits and erase mentions of slavery and the treatment of Native Americans. Federal websites have deleted references to women’s rights and LGBTQ+ history. In one especially embarrassing episode, Trump's Department of War, formally known as the Department of Defense, even scrubbed its site of all mentions of the Enola Gay ‒ the plane that dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima ‒ because an automated effort to remove the word “gay” caught it in the process.
If you are old enough, you will remember that her parents were forced to return tens of thousands of dollars in "household goods" they took from the White House when they left office in 2001.
Clinton staffers did more than $10,000 in damage to the White House on their way out the door, including the petty move of removing the "W" from keyboards in an effort to spite incoming president George W. Bush.
Then, of course, there are Bill Clinton's ... extracurricular ... activities in the Oval Office.
Meanwhile, the public has known about the renovations since the summer, and no one bothered to object before now. How convenient, given the fact that the Democrats are desperate for anything to deflect from the Schumer Shutdown.
It'd be amusing to watch this narrative ripple across the Left side of social media if House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries hadn't also threatened criminal investigations into the ballroom donors.
Mr. Jefferies had better be careful with his investigation of ballroom donors.
A good number of the Ballroom donors are Democrat Leftists.

It looks like your parent company is helping to "DESTROY" the White House!!
Below is a list of donors who contributed to the new Big Beautiful Ballroom. 🤣 pic.twitter.com/Fxp3LhKNM0
A Democrat is calling for a promise to tear down the new ballroom to be the litmus test for all Democrat candidates running for President in 2028.
Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) has become the latest to succumb to what Trump supporters are now calling “BDS” – Ballroom Derangement Syndrome.
The southern California congressman wants a pledge from any 2028 Democrat presidential candidate that he or she will demolish President Donald Trump’s planned “big beautiful ballroom” — or not bother to seek the party’s nomination.
Takeaway
Press Secretary Leavitt has pushed back against the “fake outrage,” noting that “nearly every single president who has lived in this beautiful White House behind me has made modernizations and renovations of their own.”
Yesterday, the New York Times joined the bawling over this great tragedy that has beset America.
This is what happens when hollow people seek leadership. They have no plan. So they jump on every bandwagon that passes, hoping to find a ride to power.
T.S. Elliot's poem, "The Hollow Men," reflects the state of the Leftist movement in our country:
"The Hollow Men" is a poem about spiritual emptiness and disillusionment, depicting a group of "hollow men" who are spiritually barren and lack meaning. These characters perform meaningless rituals and fear judgment, living in a desolate "death's dream kingdom". The poem ends with the famous lines, "This is the way the world ends / Not with a bang but a whimper," signifying a quiet, passive end to a life devoid of purpose.
Ronald Reagan said, "The trouble with our Liberal friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so."
He also said, "When you can't make them see the light, make them feel the heat."
The Left is feeling the heat.
