The Left Reacts to Turning Point USA in Every School

Newsweek is reporting that "Oklahoma aims to become the first state to open a chapter of Turning Point USA—co-founded by assassinated conservative influencer Charlie Kirk—in every high school to resist 'radical leftists ... [who] push woke indoctrination' of children," state schools superintendent Ryan Walters said two days ago.

As you can imagine, there is some resistance to this.

The press has continuously referred to the late Charlie Kirk and his organization as a political right-wing organization led by a right-wing activist.

But now they are labeling the organization "religious" and calling for "separation of church and state."

And now, the State Superintendent Ryan Walters announced his resignation late yesterday.

Be informed, not misled.

Let's take a look at the Left's response to the idea of every school in the state having a Turning Point USA club on campus.

Here's why the Left is concerned about the organization's continued growth and influence.

Newsweek says, "The late activist played a key role in organizing young Republican voters through Turning Point, which organized students on high school and college campuses across the country. Conservatives have pledged to continue funding and supporting the organization following Kirk's death."

Walters said recently he had seen an outpouring from parents, teachers, and students wanting to be involved with the organization.

“They want their young people to be engaged in a process that understands free speech, open engagement, dialogue about American greatness, a dialogue around American values,” he said in a video posted to X in which he announced his plan for a Turning Point chapter in every state high school.

“For far too long, we have seen radical leftists with the teachers' union dominate classrooms and push woke indoctrination of our kids. They fight parents' rights, they push parents out of the classroom, and they lie to our kids about American history,” Walters said.

Kirk's widow, Erika Kirk, has been named the next CEO of Turning Point, which has seen a flood of donations and chapter requests following Kirk’s assassination.

The organization wrote in a September 16 post to X that it had received more than 54,000 requests from high school or college students across the country to either begin a chapter or join an existing one. There were about 1,200 high school chapters and 900 college branches before the assassination.

Fox News says, "There is some resistance."

Walters faced some criticism for his announcement, particularly from Democrats. But also from some RINOs.

Tulsa Public Schools board member John Croisant, a 2026 Democratic congressional candidate, stated in an interview with KGOU that Tulsa Public Schools will not participate in "pushing political organizations within our schools."

"And he can't make us," Croisant said. "Because that's not a part of accreditation."

Former DNC spokesperson Xochitl Hinojosa spoke out against Walters on CNN.

"I do not think that we should be forcing ideology on our children, especially in public schools," Hinojosa said Tuesday. "After the shooting of Gabby Giffords, we were not forcing ideology in Arizona about guns. After the Minnesota state legislator was killed and her husband was killed in their home by an anti-abortion activist, we weren’t going into Minnesota schools trying to promote abortion in those schools."

Walters responded to Hinojosa’s comments on "The Story with Martha MacCallum" on Wednesday, calling the criticism "laughable."

"These are the people who forced ‘Drag Queen Story Hour’ on your kids. They force critical race theory on your kids. They force the most radical woke agenda in the country on your kids. The teachers' unions and the Democratic Party did that," Walters said.

He continued, "Then when students and teachers say ‘we want a Turning Point chapter,’ that we have not seen anything like this before. We are excited and want to take the country back, and we want kids to think freely. We want them to understand American values. The unions and the Democrats cry foul. You have to be kidding me with this. We have never seen a Marxist ideology pushed on this like that party has for the last decade."

Walters said that his announcement coincided with requests from parents and students for new chapters and that he is working with Turning Point USA on the measure.

MSNBC is saying, "Oklahoma schools’ chief is finding new ways to impose a conservative agenda on students.

MSNBC, which is being separated from NBC as we speak, is concerned.

This is the same Walters who instructed schools across Oklahoma to observe a moment of silence for Kirk, in part because of the activist’s work in promoting “Christianity’s role in society” and “conservative values.”

To be sure, Walters’ plan to establish individual chapters of a conservative organization at every high school in Oklahoma didn’t exactly come as a surprise. He was obviously committed to using his office to advance an ideological agenda.

But in conservative circles, one of the more common complaints in recent years is that public schools try to “indoctrinate” students with progressive ideas, effectively grooming them to become Democratic voters. The goal, the right has argued, should be politically neutral education, leaving people to make up their own minds.

But the Left has not done that. They have seized every opportunity to steal the hearts and minds of our children. And in the case of transgenderism and abortion, they have taught the kids how to keep it from their parents.

Recently, Randi Weingarten, the president of the American Federation of Teachers, told the teachers' convention that the kids in our public schools "belong to us," not the parents.

Takeaway

What the soon to be an orphan MSNBC means is that the Left has gone unchallenged in their programs to indoctrinate America's children---until now.

Now they are being challenged, and they can't handle it.

The Left is arguing that these kinds of intrusions into their indoctrination operations must be stopped.

A smear campaign has already begun toward Ryan Walters.

Randi Weingarten, the president of the American Federation of Teachers, said in a statement, referring to Walters' resignation, "Today is a good day for Oklahoma’s kids."

Actually, it was a good day for the predators of the children in Oklahoma.

State Attorney General Gentner Drummond, a Republican, slammed Walters in a statement after the announcement, saying in a post on X that Walters' appointment as superintendent led to "a stream of never-ending scandal and political drama" and calling him "an embarrassment to our state."

What did he do? Well, "As the state's top education official, Walters generated controversy for ordering schools to include the Bible in the curriculum and pushing to require that families prove their U.S. citizenship in order to enroll their children in public schools."

Walters has said he wanted to “put God back in schools” and called the separation of church and state a “myth.”

Walters has accepted the position of CEO of the conservative group Teacher Freedom Alliance, saying, "We're going to destroy the teachers' unions."

I wish him well. I pray he will succeed.

Union boss Weingarten said, "Any educator worth their salt understands it’s impossible to educate students if you don’t support teachers," she added. "Walters didn’t do that in Oklahoma, and now, at a time we need to bring the country together, he’s trying to export his divisive rhetoric nationally."

Is God being further implanted into our culture, including our disastrous public school system, "divisive rhetoric?
