Harming Kids Is "Creepy"

Yesterday, I mentioned on the radio program that a bill had passed the House of Representatives that would criminalize so-called "gender affirming surgeries for minors."

Three Democrats crossed the aisle and voted for the bill, while four Republicans voted against it.

What were they thinking?

You should know who they are and what they were thinking.

Let's take a closer look because harming kids is creepy. And so-called gender affirming surgeries harm kids.

Be informed, not misled.

Townhall agrees. They say, "Yesterday, the House voted 216-211 to criminalize 'gender-affirming surgeries' for minors. More than 200 Democrats voted against the measure, but three Democrats — Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34), Don Davis (NC-01), and Henry Cuellar (TX-28) — crossed the aisle and voted with Republicans.

Four Republicans voted against the measure, and their constituents would do well to know who they are, too.

The four Republican losers are:

  • Mike Lawler (NY)
  • Brian Fitzpatrick (PA)
  • Mike Kennedy (UT)
  • Gabe Evans (CO)

Townhall says of the bill, "It's the only sane approach to the issue. "Gender-affirming care" for minors is an affront to decency and child safety. It doesn't address the mental issues behind gender dysphoria, often targets autistic and traumatized youth, and leaves children sterile, sexually dysfunctional, and dependent on expensive medical care for life."

Fox News noted that more than "200 Democrats voted against the bill."

That's creepy.

Fox says, "More than 200 House Democrats voted against a bill aimed at criminalizing transgender medical treatment for minors," on Wednesday evening.

The bill passed by a 216-211 vote, with some bipartisan crossover.

Three Democrats — Vicente Gonzalez, D-Texas; Don Davis, D-N.C.; and Henry Cuellar, D-Texas — voted with Republicans for the bill.

As noted, "Four Republicans — Mike Kennedy, R-Utah; Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa.; Gabe Evans, R-Colo.; and Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., voted against it.

Via Fox News:

It was widely opposed by most Democrats, however. Forty-five House Republicans signed on to formally back the legislation before the vote.

And while the majority of Republicans supported it on the House floor, it's unclear if it will be taken up in the GOP-led Senate.

Transgender issues, particularly related to minors, have been one of the topics driving a wedge between moderate and progressive Democrats. But the severity of the bill's language appears to have turned off a significant number of Democrats in the House.

The bill creates new federal crimes that carry up to 10 years in prison for doctors performing transgender-affirming surgeries on minors, while also making it a crime to prescribe puberty blockers.

Parents or guardians of children under 18 could also be held criminally liable if they consent to or otherwise facilitate transgender treatment for them.

The resistance

Of course, the ACLU is taking a stand in favor of continuing the mutilation of young, confused kids.

Mike Zamore, the national director of policy and government affairs at the ACLU, said, "This extreme bill puts the threat of prosecution between hundreds of thousands of families and their doctors and would put doctors behind bars for exercising their best medical judgment."

"Passing this bill would be a grave escalation of an already severe effort to not only push transgender people out of public life but also allow the state to control our bodies and our lives further."

Pathetic.

Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., who argued in favor of the bill on the House floor, said Wednesday, "It is obscene. It is disgusting. You’re seeing, in real time, Democrats wanting and defending grooming of children. And it is abhorrent."

"There is a lie at the heart of the debate we’re having today that I have to correct. No child is born in the wrong body. There are only two sexes, male and female. There are no others."

Takeaway

From a biblical perspective, sex-change operations stand in direct opposition to God’s created order.

Scripture teaches that God intentionally created humanity as male and female, declaring His design “very good” (Genesis 1:27, 31). Our bodies are not accidents or mistakes, but purposeful gifts formed by God Himself (Psalm 139:13–16).

To surgically alter one’s sex is to reject God’s sovereign design and to place human will above divine authority. The Bible repeatedly warns against conforming creation to human desire rather than submitting to God’s Truth (Romans 1:25; Isaiah 5:20).

While the gospel calls believers to love all people with compassion and dignity, love does not require affirming what Scripture identifies as contrary to God’s will. True love speaks truth and calls every person—without exception—to repentance, restoration, and identity found not in self-definition, but in Christ (Matthew 16:24; 2 Corinthians 5:17).

The biblical response to confusion about identity is not bodily alteration, but spiritual renewal through submission to God, who alone defines who we are and why we were made.
