Trump to Visit US-Mexico Border Thursday--Will He Declare a "National Emergency?"

The White House announced yesterday that President Trump will travel to the US-Mexico border Thursday.

The president has said, if necessary, he will declare the border a national emergency and build the wall without congressional approval.

The Democrats are crying foul, calling him a "racist" while the religious Left is calling "the wall" immoral.

Be informed.

The politics of building the wall.

Yesterday the White House announced that the president will visit the border Thursday---day after tomorrow.

As you know, the Democrats are blocking the president from doing what he promised to do during the election---build a wall to control illegal immigration along our southern border with Mexico.

The president is asking Congress for $5.7 billion to build the wall. The House of Representatives, now under Democratic Party control, is saying, "No."

In the meantime, a spending bill which funds certain parts of government is being held up causing "some" government agencies to be closed.

The press consistently reports that "much" of government is shut down. The fact is that "some" of government is shut down.

The president told congressional Democratic leaders during a meeting Friday that he was willing to keep the government shut down for as long as necessary---possibly months or even years---in order to get the funding he wants.

Sunday, President Trump once again confirmed that he is considering declaring a state of emergency to direct funding to build a wall.

He told reporters as he left a planning meeting at Camp David Sunday,
"We're looking at a national emergency because we have a national emergency. Just read the papers. We have a crises at the border...It is national security, it's a national emergency."

The President of the United States has the power to declare a "national emergency," then take appropriate action. That would, Trump believes, include building a wall to secure our border.

He said he will make a decision about declaring an emergency in the coming days. That was Sunday.

Yesterday, the WH announced he is going to the border Thursday.

All this is terrifying to the far Left globalists, and particularly to Jim Wallis and his religious Left, because their theology is rooted in an open borders view of biblical teaching---and it has been pretty well confirmed that Wallis and his Sojourner organization has received funds, indirectly if not directly, from globalist George Soros.

Sunday, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) confirmed the urgency of the matter. He told CBS's Face The Nation that President Trump can't negotiate on the government shutdown over funding a border wall, "as long as the radical left is in charge."

He said we're having to "negotiate with people who want to abolish ICE, not support ICE. We're having to negotiate with people who see border patrol agents gassing children rather than defending our borders as professional law enforcement officers."

He said, "We're negotiating with people who...say the wall is immoral and accuse all of us who support a wall as part of border security as racist."

He also said, "Until you get that crowd put to the sideline, I don't see anything happening."

President Trump is making his decision as to whether he is going to take an action that would "put that crowd to the sideline."

It looks like the president is on the move. The White House has sent a letter to Democratic House committee chairs informing them that the Customs and Border Protection agency is coordinating with the Army to fulfill President Trump's goal of securing the border with a steel wall.

The letter says, "In concert with the Army Corps of Engineers, CBP has increased its capacity to execute these funds."

Biblical teaching on border security.

Nancy Pelosi, now Speaker of the House and leader of the Democratic Party, has repeatedly called building a wall on our southern border "immoral"---even though she has walls around her personal estate and vacation homes. And locks on her doors, I suppose.

She does not stand alone in her globalist beliefs, nor is she the only one advocating that the Bible teaches open borders, and a form of globalism.

Jim Wallis, the founder of Sojourners--the largest religious Left organization in the country, travels our nation, teaching a far Left view of Scripture---including this past Christmas telling his followers that Jesus, Mary, and Joseph themselves were "refugees" who had to "migrate" to Egypt to escape their dire situation.

In his "Dear Friend" fundraising letter published last week, Jim Wallis told his many followers, including pastors, that among other things he is focusing this year on, "Learning how to separate prophetic truth-telling from divisive political attacks."

He promises to "speak truth boldly" because "Jesus told us: 'Know the Truth and the Truth will set you free'."

So far so good. Jesus did say that. However, Wallis, as his religious left colleagues always do, takes a hard left turn and begins putting words in Jesus' mouth.

Jesus was not a refugee or an illegal immigrant.

Wallis, Pelosi, and others have been telling uninformed people that to deny illegal immigrants open borders to America is to deny baby Jesus Himself.

This false teaching is usually attached to Matthew 25: 25-36 and Leviticus 19: 33-34. In doing so they ignore Romans 13:1-7, at least until a Democrat is back in the White House.

Matthew 2: 12-14 tells us that an angel of the Lord came to Joseph and told him to take Mary and baby Jesus out of Judea and into Egypt in order to escape the murderous intentions of Herod. Joseph obeyed, and rode out into the night to save the life of baby Jesus. They stayed there until Herod died.

That's the religious Left's version that confirms that Mary and Joseph and baby Jesus were refugees and immigrants.

The problem is that Wallis and the rest of the religious Left are not "separating prophetic, biblical truth-telling from politics."

What they either choose to ignore or misstate is that at that time, Judea and Egypt were then known as Aegyptus, and were all within the borders of the Roman Empire. Both countries were occupied land under Caesar, even though Herod was King of Judea, he ruled on behalf of Caesar. Jesus and His family, while provincial citizens, were what we would consider Roman nationals who paid taxes to Rome though they were not necessarily citizens of the Roman state.

Fleeing to Egypt, then under the personal control of Augustus himself, was on par to moving from Washington State to Idaho or Oregon, etc.

While it could be considered migration to move from one state to another, it's hardly the international journey the Left wants Americans, particularly Christians, to believe.

They were not aliens in any legal sense, because it was perfectly legal to travel from one Roman province to another. In fact, Egypt had a thriving Jewish community.

Jesus was not an immigrant in any sense of how we identify immigrants.

Their argument that Jesus was a "refugee" breaks down the same way in light of the truth.

So does the religious Left's signature ID of Jesus as a "stranger."

I do, however, agree that we live in perilous, deceptive times.

We must be informed. We must rightly divide the Word of God to discern the times in which we live.

Be Informed. Be Vigilant. Be Discerning. Be Prayerful. Be Faithful.
