"Evangelicals For Biden"-- How Does that Work?

"Evangelicals For Biden" is an organized effort to elect Biden to the presidency because they say,

"Joe Biden is a man like any other, but his character and faith set him apart in times of crises...That same authentic and humble trust in God that has guided his life will be the foundation of Joe Biden's Presidency as he leads the United States back to times of unity and prosperity."

A closer look at character, faith, and authenticity reveals much about Joe and the "evangelicals" who want to elect him.

Be informed, not misled.

"Evangelicals for Biden" website claim there "146,794 and counting" who are supporting Joe Biden for the presidency.

Their site also says: "Evangelicals don't have to change who they are, they just need to reaffirm who they are by voting for someone who truly reflects Christian values."

Gallup reported yesterday that 77% of Americans believe this election matters more than those of previous years.

• 85% of Democrats
• 79% of Republicans
• 69% of independents

The importance of this election cannot be overstated. Without question, it is the most important since Abraham Lincoln's second term---maybe, the most important ever.

For people of faith---biblical faith, how does their faith square with Joe Biden's "Christians values."

How do true biblical evangelicals support Biden's "truly Christian values" which his "evangelical" supporters claim will be the "foundation of Joe Biden's Presidency?"

Joe Biden has said his faith "sustained him through the most difficult times." That's between Joe and God, but his actions and policies as an elected leader for 47 years reflects anything but biblical Christianity.

About Joe, his "Christian" values, and his Catholic Church.

A few weeks ago Cardinal Raymond Burke said Biden "is not a Catholic in good standing, and he should not approach to receive Holy Communion."

Burke said, "His views are at sharp odds with Vatican teaching, and Biden should be excluded from all Catholic sacraments."

Newsweek Magazine also says, "The cardinal said his comments about Biden were not meant to be an overtly political statement. But he also said voting for Biden while he remained pro-choice would be 'ridiculous'."

The cardinal continued: 

"I don't intend to get involved in the recommending any candidate for office, but simply to state that a Catholic may not support abortion in any shape or form, because it is one of the most grievous sins against human life, and has always been considered to be intrinsically evil. And therefore to support the act is a mortal sin."

Burke said, "I don't know why Catholics who are involved in politics can't get this straight in their heads."

Pope Francis reaffirmed in 2013 that politicians "cannot receive Holy Communion and at the same time act with deeds or words against the commandments, particularly when abortion, euthanasia, and other grave crimes against life and family are encouraged."

His predecessor Pope Benedict XVI first issued that statement in 2007.

Ironically, this comes at a time when President Trump, not a Catholic, has nominated Amy Coney Barrett, a real Catholic, to the Supreme Court.

The Church claims Barrett to be devout in her faith.

Joe's explanation for a double-minded faith.

John Kerry developed the Catholic double talk when he was running for president back in 2004.

The left-leaning Religion News Service tried their best to prop him up by helping him explain: 

"I can't take what is an article of faith for me and legislate it for someone who does not share that article of faith, whether they be atheist, agnostic, Jew, Protestant, whatever....As a president I have to represent all the people..."

So, if a president is really going to be president of all the people, he can have no fixed beliefs about the most fundamental issue---life itself. 

"Life" is hardly an article of faith. It's the most basic reality anyone experiences. One is either dead or alive.

Joe Biden has echoed his long time close friend John Kerry in explaining how he is a devout Catholic, who doesn't believe or practice what his Church believes and practices.

Bishop Slattery of Tulsa wrote a lengthy article laying out the hypocrisy of both Biden and Pelosi.

The bishop concludes with this: 

"Once an evil is truly seen for what it is, neither can an emphasis on privacy excuse one's moral responsibility to act to stop it, nor can defining murder as a 'right to choose' change what is actually chosen."

Joe's Catholic Church concludes he's not an authentic Catholic.

But not to worry. The religious left Protestants will call themselves "evangelicals" and pick up the slack.

About pro-abortion "evangelicals."

The intro to the Evangelicals for Biden site claims Joe's character is a "reflection of his faith." And that "you don't have to change who you are" to vote for Biden.

If you don't have to change who you are to vote for Biden, consider this.

The Christian Left movement is a Protestant response to the same kind of double-mindedness of  Biden, Pelosi, Kerry, and other Catholics who want it both ways.

You're welcomed to the Religious Left site with:

"We've been searching for you for 10 years! If you're like many others like us you've probably felt alone out there. You've probably been told you can't be a Christian  and a liberal...Welcome home. You have found your tribe. Conservative 'Christians' have been wrong, and you've been right about Jesus all along."

Click the "abortion" tab and the left's "truth" cascades upon you. It begins with this: 

"Abortion is a made up issue designed to coalesce a right wing political movement. It isn't even mentioned in the Bible..."

"Everyone has a right to to make their own decisions about abortion," they claim. "Especially when right wing Biblical interpretations are fabricated for political purposes."

Often, these people argue a moral equivalency like Mona Charen, "It’s wrong to take innocent life. But other things are immoral too. Donald Trump is a daily, even hourly, assault on the very idea of morality. His influence is like sulfuric acid on our civic bonds."

They ramble on claiming that Paul Weyrich, a co-founder of the Heritage Foundation, was the Godfather of the Christian Right who shopped around until he found buddies like Francis Schaeffer, Jerry Falwell, and others---then they were off and running in the creation of the "Christian Right."

The takeaway.

To my evangelical friends: Do you hate Trump that much?

Look me in the eye and tell me you can vote for that without changing who you are.

Much more importantly, look God in the eye and tell Him, that's who you are. 

It's time for biblical Christians to get real.
