Republican Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley said Monday on Fox News that it’s “time to blow the lid off” Democrats’ “dark money” operations, following ongoing and intense protests and violence against the Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE’s) Elon Musk and his car company.
Protesters and domestic terrorists were reportedly involved in over a dozen violent or destructive acts directed at Musk’s electric vehicle (EV) Tesla facilities, according to The Washington Post.
I thought Musk was the banner carrier for the "Green Movement."
So what has changed?
Be informed, not misled.
The Washington Post introduces their article on Musk and his car company, Tesla, with this:
The woman in the black hoodie walked onto the Tesla car lot prepared to inflict damage. She came with four Smirnoff Ice bottles filled with gasoline, flung them at electric vehicles parked around the dealership and watched as they burned.
Over the course of 13 days starting Jan. 29, according to court records, Lucy Grace Nelson made repeated trips to the Tesla car lot in Loveland, Colorado. Once, she spray-painted “Nazi” in black under the dealership’s entrance sign, according to court documents, and another time, she ignited a molotov cocktail near a Tesla Cybertruck. She also allegedly used red spray-paint to scribble a message on the car dealership’s entrance doors: “F--- Musk.” Nelson’s lawyer declined to comment on the case.
What has changed? Musk and his electric cars were once the darling of the Left.
Continuing, the Post says, "Since President Donald Trump’s inauguration, more than a dozen violent or destructive acts have been directed at Tesla facilities, according to court documents, surveillance photographs, police records, and local media reports reviewed by The Washington Post. The incidents come as Elon Musk has rocketed to prominence as Trump’s best-known backer and as a conservative provocateur in his own right. The ire directed at the tech billionaire online has increasingly spilled into real life, with vandalism directed at Tesla storefronts, charging stations, and vehicles."The Daily Caller says, "Republican Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley said Monday on Fox News that it’s 'time to blow the lid off' Democrats’ 'dark money' operations, following ongoing and intense protests against the Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE’s) Elon Musk and his car company."
On Jesse Watters Primetime, Watters asked Hawley about the increase in violence against Musk and his company, asking “how seriously” lawmakers were taking the apparent “domestic terrorist attacks” against Tesla.
“Well, it ought to be serious, particularly if you follow the money, as you were just pointing out, Jesse. It’s time to blow the lid off the dark money operation of the left. They’ve been doing this for years,” Hawley said.
“They’ve been funding all kinds, whether we’re talking about terrorism on campuses, the pro-Hamas terrorists, whether we’re talking about these attacks on Tesla, whether we’re talking about what’s happened at people’s homes, the justices’ homes of the Supreme Court, for instance. All of that is astroturf, left-funded garbage. We ought to find out where all of it is coming from,” Hawley added.
Fox News reports, "Tesla car owners, dealerships and charging stations have been targeted nationwide in protest against electric carmaker CEO Elon Musk and his involvement with the Trump administration's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which aims to slash wasteful spending and fraud within the federal government."

- KOMO TV News reports, "Four Tesla Cybertrucks were damaged or destroyed in a fire at a lot in Seattle's SoDo neighborhood late Sunday night, raising questions about possible arson and the motive behind it.
The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) has not yet said whether foul play was suspected as the cause of the fire, which is under investigation. Seattle police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are also investigating the fire.
The trucks were parked in a fenced lot near 2nd Ave and Spokane Street, along with at least 50 other electric vehicles, which are held until they're ready to be dropped off at a dealership or picked up by a buyer.
- In Massachusetts, several Tesla charging stations were set on fire.
When firefighters arrived, multiple Superchargers were "engulfed in flames and heavy, dark smoke," according to Littleton police. More than half a dozen chargers were damaged.
- Brookline police recently arrested a Boston man caught on video allegedly tagging Tesla vehicles with Musk decals and sharing the footage on X.
When confronted, the man said he had the right to deface the property of others, citing "free speech," according to police.
"We’d like to speak with the suspect so we can educate him on the difference between 'free speech,' and vandalizing property belonging to others," police wrote in a Facebook post prior to his arrest.
- Last week, the U.S. attorney’s office in Colorado charged 42-year-old Lucy Grace Nelson, also known as Justin Thomas Nelson, after police say they found a number of explosives and concerning messages at a Colorado Tesla dealership.
Nelson was charged with one count of malicious destruction of property, explosives or incendiary devices use, felony criminal mischief, and criminal attempt to commit felonies, according to a statement from the Loveland Police Department.

KOMO News also reported this:
A Cybertruck sells for at least $80,000.
Though the cause of the fire is still under investigation, it raises questions about whether it could be connected to protests in the Pacific Northwest and across the nation against Tesla owner Elon Musk and his role in the Trump administration with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) cutting more than 62,000 federal jobs.
"It’s not my approach, it’s not the approach of the people around me," Devin Hermanson, who has helped organize some of the local Tesla protests, told KOMO News. "It’s just not the way we do things, and in some ways I think it’s not really helpful. I want people to see us as a peaceful movement."
Hermanson went on to say they are not associated with the fire and this is not what they stand for.
"As long as people don't feel they're being heard, they're watching their democracy be dismantled, they feel they need an outlet, then they're gonna start acting out in ways that sometimes we don't like," Hermanson said. "I don't want that, but I can understand where it comes from."
The so-called "democracy" is a "Republic." And it is actually being saved "from" people like Devin Hermanson and his peaceful protestors, not destroyed by the likes of Elon Musk, who has laid his fortune on the line to help save our country.
Our country cannot go on spending money we don't have and expect to survive.
How does Hermanson think he can continue to demand that we bloat the government and simultaneously save the country?
The Founding Fathers recognized that freedom comes at a cost, often involving sacrifice and struggle. They emphasized the importance of vigilance and defense of liberty, as well as the need to be willing to fight for it:
John Adams said, "You will never know how much it has cost my generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make a good use of it."
Be Informed. Be Discerning. Be Vigilant. Be Engaged. Be Prayerful.
