ABC News says, "Conservative advocacy group Turning Point USA has announced a counterprogram halftime show that will be held during next year's official Super Bowl LX halftime show."

"The nonprofit," ABC says, "founded by the late activist Charlie Kirk, who was killed [assassinated] during a public speaking event on Sept. 10, revealed this week that its counterprogram show would run opposite the NFL's Super Bowl LX halftime show at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Feb. 8 and will be called The All American Halftime Show."

The alternative show will feature entertainment that celebrates Faith, Family, and Freedom, as opposed to that of "Bad Bunny" — the NFL's anti-USA choice for halftime entertainment.

Be informed, not misled.

ABC News says, "Last month, the NFL announced Bad Bunny as the 2026 Super Bowl LX Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show performer."

There was an immediate backlash from thousands — hopefully tens of millions—of football fans who are also fans of our country when the NFL announced that Bad Bunny would be the halftime entertainment.

"It's true, Turning Point USA is thrilled to announce The All-American Halftime Show," the organization wrote on X on Thursday. "Performers and event details coming soon."

The post linked to a website for "The All American Halftime Show," stating the event will celebrate "Faith, Family & Freedom" and adding that more information and musical artists will be announced at a later date.

Who is "Bad Bunny"?

Bad Bunny, born in Puerto Rico and a U.S. citizen, sings almost exclusively in Spanish and is expected to perform in Spanish during the Super Bowl halftime show.

But there's more.

He is highly critical of America and had previously said he would make no more appearances in America because of our immigration policies.

Of course, he found reason to make an exception when the NFL called him.

The New York Post says, "The Puerto Rican superstar, who has emerged as one of the most popular recording artists since he debuted in 2016, hasn’t been well received by some NFL fans."

Recently, Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, expressed fears about U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). He said earlier this month that he didn’t book any U.S. dates for his tour over fears that fans would be detained by ICE agents.

He told the press, “There was the issue of – like, [expletive] ICE could be outside [my concert]. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about,” he told i-D.

He also recorded and posted videos of what he described as local ICE raids on social media in Puerto Rico.

He also said, “Look, those (expletives) are in these cars, RAV-4s. They’re here in Pontezuela,” he said in Spanish, mentioning ICE working on the Avenida Pontezuela in Carolina, a city east of Puerto Rico’s capital, San Juan.

“[ S O B's ] instead of leaving the people alone and working there,” he added.

Bad Bunny wrote on his X page that he would do “just one date” in the US prior to the Super Bowl halftime announcement on Sunday. It came out later that he was chosen as the performer.

The backlash is real

Bad Bunny addressed the backlash while hosting NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” on Oct. 4.

“I’m very happy, and I think everyone is happy about it, even Fox News,” he said during his opening monologue. “I’m very excited ... and I know that people all around the world who love my music are also happy.”

Bad Bunny is set to kick off his world tour in the Dominican Republic in November to celebrate the launch of his sixth studio album, the politically charged “Debí Tirar Más Fotos,” which debuted in January.

As mentioned, he said he wouldn't be performing in the U.S. On the same day the NFL announced his upcoming Super Bowl gig, the singer wrote on X that he would be making one exception.

“I’ve been thinking about it these days, and after discussing it with my team, I think I'll do just one date in the United States,” he wrote.

Bad Bunny’s halftime performance has garnered pushback from several government officials.

During an Oct. 3 appearance on “The Benny Show,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem revealed that ICE would be stationed at Levi’s Stadium on game day.

“I have the responsibility for making sure everybody goes to the Super Bowl, has the opportunity to enjoy it and to leave, and that’s what America’s about,” Noem said. “So yeah, we’ll be all over that place, and we’re going to enforce the law ... so I think people should not be coming to the Super Bowl unless they are law-abiding Americans who love this country.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson also criticized the NFL’s musical selection while speaking to the press on Oct. 7, noting that it “sounds like a terrible decision.”

“It sounds like he’s not someone who appeals to a broader audience. And there are so many eyes on the Super Bowl—for a lot of young and impressionable children,” Johnson said. “In my view, you would have Lee Greenwood or role models doing that. Not somebody like this.”

Greenwood welcomed the idea in response, telling the New York Post on Thursday that he agreed with Johnson.

“I would make a great performer for any Super Bowl show,” the Grammy-winning country singer, best known for his 1984 patriotic hit “God Bless the USA,” told the publication.

“I perform for various NFL teams every year, especially during their Salute to Service games. As a matter of fact, I will be doing halftime for the Dallas Cowboys during Monday Night Football on Nov. 3.

Takeaway

Turning Point USA contributor and far-right commentator Jack Posobiec floated the idea for a counterprogrammed halftime show earlier this week following Bad Bunny's Oct. 4 "Saturday Night Live" appearance, in which the singer delivered a message in Spanish and then said, "If you didn't understand what I just said, you have four months to learn."

Perhaps the Bunny will learn a few things as well over the next four months.

Americans are sick and tired of people taking all they can get from America on one hand, and on the other hand, badmouthing it.

Four months can be quite a while. We'll see what happens. I'll keep you posted.
