Tens of thousands of pro-life Americans are expected to gather on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., tomorrow, Friday, January 23, for the 53rd annual March for Life, demonstrating steadfast commitment to protecting babies from abortion in the post-Roe era.
The event is themed “Life Is a Gift.”
It will highlight the fact that life is very good and worthy of protection, no matter the circumstances.
Vice President J.D. Vance, whose wife is pregnant with their fourth child---a boy, will headline the pre-march rally, marking his second consecutive year addressing the crowd.
Be informed, not misled.
A spokesman for Vance said, “Vice President Vance is grateful to the tens of thousands of Americans who travel to the National Mall each year to speak out in support of life, and looks forward to joining them for the second consecutive year.”
The spokesman added that “President Trump has delivered more victories for the pro-life movement than any president in history,” and affirmed that “the vice president will continue to fight for the right to life alongside the president and his administration.”
Other speakers will include House Speaker Mike Johnson and Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., as well as additional pro-life leaders.
The March for Life, described as one of the world’s largest human rights demonstrations, will draw participants from across the nation to rally peacefully for the protection of unborn children.
I thought Roe v Wade ended abortion.
Many uninformed Americans believe that with the overturning of Roe v Wade, abortions are now illegal and uncommon.
Organizers highlight that, despite the 2022 Dobbs decision ending abortion on demand up to birth under Roe v. Wade, the fight continues against state-level abortion restrictions and for broader safeguards.
Currently in America, 18 states protect babies from abortion, 12 states protect babies throughout pregnancy, four have heartbeat laws that save babies starting at 6 weeks, and two protect babies after 12 weeks.
“With the role of the states being more important, we are also growing a strong state march for life initiative quickly,” the March for Life says, “however, we will continue to march every January at the national level until a culture of life is restored in the United States of America.”
Many see the pro-life movement as merely a Christian movement--- a Protestant-Catholic movement.
Earlier this month, Rabbi Alan Betsalel Friedlander wrote an article explaining that faithful Jews are also very much prolife.
Setting the Record Straight on the Jewish View on Abortion.
This is part of what the rabbi wrote:
All too often, proponents of abortion have been willing to abuse the truth of things to further their agenda. Not only is Judaism opposed to abortion by whim, the Jewish Bible records that being fruitful and multiplying is a part of God’s morality from even before there was a Jewish people. God commanded the first man to be fruitful and multiply, and then God again commanded Noah 10 generations later to continue to be fruitful and multiply. This was long before the Torah was given at Mount Sinai. We are asked to add life to the world, not its antithesis.
There is no heresy like that which results in the bloodshed of the innocent. Yet otherwise compassionate people are often found fully invested into the evil heresy of abortion as a choice. Risking the life of a fetus is only possible morally, when there is no choice; i.e. that one must risk it to save the mother. Yet too many proponents of abortion cherry pick misquotes of the Talmud to further their agenda, and oppose God’s kind plan for humanity.
“Who is wise and will understand these, discerning and will know them; for the ways of the Lord are straight, and the righteous shall walk in them, and the rebellious shall stumble on them” (Hosea 14:10).
The rabbi talks about the debate over abortion except in the case of saving the life of the mother, saying, "There is no Talmudic discussion about lifestyle preferences that enable bloodshed, whatsoever."
He says, "All who attempt to write leniencies into God’s law based on a misunderstanding of Torah law (halachah) make this same mistake at the onset of their assumptions. But please understand," he continues, "that there is no such thing as open hunting season on fetuses in the Torah. It is heretical to fundamental Torah ethics and morality to even suggest that."
He concludes with Deuteronomy 30:19: “This day, I call upon the heaven and the earth as witnesses of you: I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. You shall choose life, so that you and your offspring will live."
Takeaway
- Abortion is not only the murder of unwanted pre-born children, but it is also an act of rebellion toward God, the Creator of human life. The practice of abortion is barbaric, and its acceptance has far-reaching negative, destructive consequences for society.
More reasons why abortion is unacceptable
- Devaluation of Human Life: From conception, a fetus is a human being with intrinsic worth, and abortion denies this fundamental right to life, thus eroding the moral fabric of society.
- Cultural and Ethical Decline: Materialism and a decline in religious adherence have devastated the "soul" of society, fostering a culture that disregards the dignity of life.
- Impact on Family Structure: God created the family structure. It is one male and one female coming together for life in the covenant of marriage to form a family to populate the earth, raise the children in the fear and admonition of God. Abortion demeans motherhood and undermines the traditional family unit.
- Economic and Demographic Consequences: Abortion negatively impacts the economy and demographics, due to the potential loss of future generations and contributing to an aging population.
- Harm to Women: Abortion often has serious short-term and long-term negative effects on women's physical and emotional health.
If you are unable to stand and march with the marchers tomorrow in Washington DC, stand with them right where you are. Pray for them. And ask God to forgive and deliver us from this terrible plague and act of rebellion against the Giver of Life Himself.
Remember, "Life Is A Gift."
