Megan Kelly's recent comments are not a surprise to me.
Tucker Carlson's comments over the past year or so have been a great disappointment.
Kelly has jumped around from fairly conservative Fox News to far-left NBC News to doing her own thing.
Tucker Carlson is no longer the guy who captured the ears and hearts of tens of millions of conservative Christian Americans in the past.
What happened?
Both are weighing in on the wrong side of the war on Iran.
Be informed, not misled.
Megan Kelly
This week, Kelly said, "My own feeling is that 'No one should have to die for a foreign country. I don't think those service members died for the United States. I think they died for Iran or for Israel... No one is crying that the Ayatollah is dead, but our government's job is not to look out for Iran or Israel."
Kelly's provocative remarks—made amid reports of six American troops lost so far in the joint US-Israeli Operation Epic Fury that eliminated Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and dozens of top regime figures—appear to have raised the ire of the president, as he defended the campaign as essential to preventing a nuclear-armed Iran.
Her willingness to denigrate the memory of those lost troops, by saying they essentially died for Israel rather than in defense of the United States, was reprehensible.
This is one of the most uninformed comments I have heard from anyone in the media.
Whether or not you agree with the ongoing operation, saying troops died for Israel not only spits on their noble sacrifice on behalf of the United States, but it's a shot at the president, suggesting he is being blindly led around by other world leaders.
Anyone who is paying attention knows Trump isn't "led around" by anyone.
In an interview with journalist Rachael Bade of The Inner Circle, Trump responded by suggesting she pick up a history book.
“Megan was opposed to me for years when I ran the first time, and nothing stopped me,” he said. “And so, you know, some people are against — and they always come back. She came all the way back. But now I guess she maybe doesn’t like the idea of this war, but I do because I have to keep nuclear weapons out of the hands of the Iranians.”
Trump suggested that the MAGA movement is behind him with this operation, not Kelly and former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who also slammed the administration over the conflict with Iran.
Tucker Carlson
Carlson, according to ABC’s Jonathan Karl, called Operation Epic Fury “absolutely disgusting and evil."
“I have to do what’s right, number one — and you can’t have Iran getting a nuclear weapon. That’s predominant to me,” the President told Bade.
“I think that MAGA is Trump — MAGA’s not the other two,” Trump confidently shot back. “MAGA wants to see our country thrive and be safe. And MAGA loves what I’m doing — every aspect of it… This is a detour that we have to take in order to keep our country safe and keep other countries safe, frankly.”

Regarding Carlson, the president said he “can say whatever he wants; it has no impact on me.”
Unfortunately, what these people say does have an impact on millions of people who believe them.
Especially Tucker.
Why did President Trump attack Iran?
Trump on Monday sent an official notification to Congress justifying U.S. attacks against Iran.
"I directed this military action consistent with my responsibility to protect Americans and United States interests both at home and abroad and in furtherance of United States national security and foreign policy interests," he explained.
"Despite my Administration's repeated efforts to achieve a diplomatic solution to Iran's malign behavior, the threat to the United States and its allies and partners became untenable."
This is true. The Trump Administration has, at least six times, engaged Iran in direct talks, trying to seek an end through diplomacy for a regime that has yelled "Death to America, Death to Israel" since coming to power.
More talks were scheduled for this week before the strikes began on Saturday.
Why the resistance to protecting Israel?
Trump made his case as to why he took action against Iran. I believe him. And believe he is doing the right thing for the right reasons.
But why are Kelly and Carlson so strongly opposed to the US aiding Israel?
Tucker announced about a year ago that he was reading through the Bible.
That's a good thing.
He should read it again.
The Bible is very clear about what our relationship with Israel should look like.
Takeaway
America’s presidents have long supported the Jewish people. Prior to the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, we find these statements of affirmation:
- “I will insist that the Hebrews have done more to civilize man than any other people” (John Adams).
- [I believe in the] rebuilding of Judea as an independent nation” (John Quincy Adams).
- “There can be no peace worth having unless... the Jews [are] given control of Palestine” (Theodore Roosevelt).
- “The allied nations with the fullest concurrence of our government and people are agreed that in Palestine should be laid the foundations of a Jewish Commonwealth” (Woodrow Wilson).
- “The Jewish faith is predominantly the faith of liberty” (Calvin Coolidge).
- “The American people, ever zealous in the cause of human freedom, have watched with sympathetic interest the effort of the Jews to renew in Palestine the ties of their ancient homeland and to reestablish Jewish culture in the place where for centuries it flourished and whence it was carried to the far corners of the world” (Franklin D. Roosevelt).
Christians support Israel because we believe in God’s covenant promise to Abraham to:
- Bless those who bless Israel
- Recognize the Jewish roots of Christianity
- Stand against the historic persecution of the Jewish people
- Hold the belief that Israel is central to end-times biblical prophecy
Consider this: Genesis 12:3—"I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse"—is an active, eternal covenant that calls for support of the Jewish people and the modern state of Israel.
This would apply to individuals and nations.
And talk show hosts.
