The Power of Palin

Sara Palin is on a book tour. She is autographing books. She is also speaking her mind.

And many are concerned, including the President of the United States.

I've observed these kinds of things through out my adult life and have never seen anyone so consistently and maliciously attacked by the press and the entertainment industry---and now the President.

They have repeatedly told us she is not qualified to be President, she is uninformed, unprepared, etc., etc., They have attacked her family, her marriage and her wardrobe.

Newsweek Magazine put her on their cover this week, using a picture from a running and fitness magazine that they were not legally authorized to use. Now they are explaining that they are not, repeat, not sexist---not one bit.

The bold line on the illegal photo cover is: "How Do You Solve A Problem Like Sara?" The subtitle on their cover reads, "She is bad news for the GOP---and Everybody Else Too."

It's odd to see Newsweek looking out for the GOP.

Chris Matthews was wondering out loud yesterday on MSNBC why the 1500 people lined up for her autograph were all white.

If she is so incapable, uninformed and unqualified for an office she is not running for at the moment, why is she so dangerous? Why the pre-occupation?

President Obama sent out an email this morning. He and his organizing office is calling her dangerous and asking for our help in pushing back against her.

Friend --Right now, Sarah Palin is on a highly publicized, nationwide book tour, attacking President Obama and his plan for health reform at every turn.

It's dangerous. Remember, this is the person who coined the term "Death Panels" -- and opened the flood gates for months of false attacks by special interests and partisan extremists.

Whatever lie comes next will be widely covered by the media, then constantly echoed by right-wing attack groups and others who are trying to defeat reform.

As we approach the final sprint on health reform, we can't afford more deception and delay. We need to be ready for anything -- and have the resources to respond with ads, events, and calls to Congress when the attacks come. So we're setting a big goal: $500,000 in the next week to help push back against Sarah Palin and her allies.

Please chip in $5 to help reach our goal.

Earlier this month, Palin publicly said that she hopes health reform will be "dead on arrival." And since then, she's been working fiercely toward that goal.

On Tuesday, Palin went on Rush Limbaugh's radio show where she outrageously -- and falsely -- suggested that Americans could "face jail time as punishment" if they don't buy insurance.

Palin has many more interviews scheduled on Hannity and other conservative shows in the next few weeks, with more platforms to go after the President. As soon as she does, the rest of our opponents will likely parrot those attacks.

We need to be prepared. And we're counting on you help. Can you chip in $5?

Dangerous to whom? To what?

The email from info@barackobama.com says she is on a book tour, is dangerous, and is going to be talking to Limbaugh and Hannity. The explanation is that after talking to them, others will likely parrot what she tells them and that is dangerous.

In fact, it is so dangerous that they need "$500,000 in the next week to help push back against Sara Palin and her allies."

I'm thinking $500,000 may not be enough.

Perhaps the danger is not with Palin. Perhaps the danger to the President lies in his far left, socialistic policies, his economic policies, his personal need to apologize for America as he travels the world, his position on DOMA and abortion, and his inability to recognize those who pose a real danger---the Gitmo guys who are moving to Manhattan and the person who shot our troops in Texas and the cells of those who hate this country and are working to destroy it, come to mind.

Palin is simply articulating values and principles upon which this country was built and has prospered and become a city on a hill---an exceptional nation. A place where there is government of the people, by the people and for the people, not a socialist elite state built on the ruins of what was the greatest nation in the history of the world.

Palin is not the problem, although what she believes and articulates is at the heart of it. The fact that she is a women, good looking and a Christian---and becoming more "capable" and "qualified"---office ready, as they say, by the day, may also be a bit of a problem.

The problem could be solved and the danger diminished if the President would simply change his positions on most every aspect of the American culture.

I see an even greater danger looming. What if others who share her beliefs, also go on book tours, and talk to Hannity and Limbaugh?

That would raise the level on danger.

I pray that is the case.

  1. Gary,

I had hoped that Sarah Palin would have come out for her nomination acceptance speech as a graceious and dignfied woman of God - reflecting the Lord whose blood paid for humanity. However, sadly, the exact opposite was the case in her slash and burn speech written by a hack Bush speechwriter (and not by her ownself).

As time went on, it became very clear - Sarah Palin is NOT qualified to be president for a very good reason - she is malicious and manipulative to the extent that she is essentially lying - including such audacious statements as "Barack Obama hangs around with terrorists", the use of the term "death panels" (completely fallacious and far beneath the high call of Jesus Christ). I have come to the studied conclusion that she is both a meglamaniac and delusional. We are all aware of the devastating consequences of individuals of this character have had on innocent human beings.

Telling the truth about someone is NOT attacking them. Your false comments about President Obama's
"far left socialist policies" are the real "attacking" comments - which you, of course, feel fully justified in your own mind to make.

I remain amazed that those who respond to the high call of integrity in Jesus Christ would countance this individual who so degrades the name of Jesus Christ. Rather, we should be exposing her for the fraud that she is so that she no longer is allowed to use the name of Jesus for her political ambitions. Will you consider helping me do this?

  2. Everyone that has strong leadership qualities may have a few flaws. Both Obama and Palin have strong leadership qualities.

    Which seems more flawed?

I can stand a few flaws. I can forebear a lot of flaws, but when I see the effect of flawed character bring upon a nation, a lot of troubles and wrong direction, I get concerned.

I read her first book and about some of the things she did to expose corruption and do a lot of good for Alaskans (and the nation) with their energy development, and I liked how she talked in the election campaign about the way out for America's economic troubles which would be it's energy development.

I think that makes better sense than health care development.

Though not perfect, I believe she's a gift this nation needs.

  5. Sarah Palin is quite the marketer - I can think of another marketer - that deluded an entire nation - though not just one.

Learn about marketing - know how to think through the scam....

Judge righteous judgement and NOT according to appearance.

  6. Gary:

Jesus was the biggest socialist of them all. If you believe in Jesus' message, then you will not be against socialism.

Do you really think Jesus would be against ensuring everyone has affordable health care?

Jesus would raise taxes a heck of a lot higher than they currently are, to make sure every homeless person had a home and every child had a world-class education.

You are no better than those tele-evangelists who scammed people out of money in the name of "Jesus".

I hope you realize you will be paying the ultimate price on judgement day for your unholy actions.

  8. I don't get a newspaper anymore.
I rarely buy one. I can't remember the last time I saw a political cartoon, but I remember seeing them in newspapers as a child.

With all that's concerning the nation today I would think there would be a lot of political cartoons.

If you were a politcal cartoonist, how would you draw things?

Would president Obama be drawn as a doctor leaning over a sick patient that represents the economy, while holding a large hypodermic needle that says "Hellscare" on it?

Or, would he be drawn as a man with a hard hat visiting a drilling operation that says "Health care", with a drilling rig turning counterclockwise causing a huge dust cloud to arise in a mushroom shape? Would it include a water tank drawn like a rubber blatter that is deflating with the word "economy" written on it?
Would you draw a small devil sitting on his shoulder wispering "Drill, baby, drill"?

This is terrible stuff isn't it?

    How would you draw Palin?

How would you draw America as appearing a few years from now?

Would you draw two citizens in the street beside a statue of Obama, in uniforms that say "Property of the state"?, talking about what America used to be like before we had health care? Maybe this scene would be on the front of a large state run hospital.

Would you draw Palin's barn with a stong ox in a stall with her shoveling it clean, and Obama's barn with no ox in the stall an no one cleaning it?

    What would Palin's ox represent?

  9. anom 1248,

Thanks for your insight . Sarah Palin is one I hope stays in the political arena but I don't think she has the political discernment to win a Presidential election.

The left loose their heads when she speaks , she seems to have the same effect on the left that Hillary Clinton had on the right .
But how she is treated , and how people talk about her reveals some current problems both in the media and those who choose be involved in political matters.

She believes in less government , pro life , comes from a culture that has no problem with hunting or guns, God has blessed her with HIS grace and beauty. She Loves America, warts and all. You would think those who say she has no brain matter would use some in making arguements for bigger government , disregarding the second amendment, killing the unborn, ugly women, and putting down America instead of calling her stupid.

I think she would loose a Presidential election , but definitely think she has the smarts and ability to help the republicans to find their political compass. I like many abandoned ship to the republican party . She also allows many in the middle to see the nastiness of the left. The right gets exposed for this and rightfully so at times , but seldom do you see the idealogical mindset and pejoratives in attacks that you see consistently in this blog and others from the left reported about in the media .

Light is the best disinfectant , and Sarah is a light .

  11. I saw Sara Palin on the Oprah W.
show and some of the questions and answers were interesting,
but I was hoping to hear questions like:

What do you think about the direction this nation is heading?
Are we on the right course?

What is your opinion of having a national health care plan? Is it something that can be an efficient and fair service to everyone or do you see it as some kind of hopeless swamp that will swallow up all of our resources and do very little good?

We heard you talk about energy development. Do you believe in free enterprise, loosening up government restraints, talking to the energy producing people and asking them what are some of the things the goverment does that hinders them from doing the drilling, converting, planting, building, or whatever they would like to do?

Are you concerned that this nation might not find in it's budget the financial resources to provide them such freedoms?

I often wonder with all the people on state unemployment benefits these days, if there are some who have savings, 401 K's, personal property that could be converted into cash, or can receive help from wealthy family members, who are on enemployment.

Do you think it a good idea to make the unemployment benefits a long term loan with a low interest rate similar to a student loan, and even extend the time if necessary?

Are you for a smaller more responsible government, or would you like to see it expand both in size and it's powers in order to do the things it needs to do to run America?

Is marrying gays and killing babies the right thing for America, and how does that fit with your belief in God?

Is America affecting the world in positive ways these days?

  12. The way that money is raised for organizations is (1) name an enemy
Liberal ,Republican ,Democrat , Mormon , baptist, Muslim, Atheist , Christian, Socialist , Communist
    & on & on

    (2) Promote fear of the enemy with horror stories and then ask for money to help fight the enemy.

This is a time proven effective system rising money .

  13. Perhaps Palin is interested in seeing this country fail so she can credit herself for further polarizing the country. Perhaps she feels that lying is as good as telling the truth if it furthers her agenda to become a celebrity. Perhaps she can only garner support by spreading fear based on a faulty premise.

Sarah Pailn is only winning support among conservatives because she claims to share their Christian ideals, but only to the extent that it benefits her.

Everyone in politics gets attacked by the media and by SNL. She spends more time arguing against political satire than she does speaking about policy and when she does, she simply isn’t that articulate.

I do agree that it is unfair for the media to pick on her or anyone else’s family. But as far as asking her questions and exposing her lack of knowledge … that is what the press is supposed to do. And she is lacking worldly knowledge – that is a problem with someone who is considered a presidential contender!

She is so substance lacking that I wish the media would just drop her as a subject altogether. She’s dangerous to the extent that she is all appeal to emotion and that is often enough to get a person elected into office.

However, I don’t think she plans on running as much as she plans on working to drum up support for conservative candidates. That is fine. I don’t share her (because she isn't big enough to speak truth) but whatever, it’s a free country.

  14. "Jesus was the biggest socialist of them all. If you believe in Jesus' message, then you will not be against socialism."

And i know many good people who Love God and are big government political supporters. Thats just a difference of political opinion , not of our hearts. If you read the book of Acts , the first church it appears really to be close to communism . Big difference is that the head of the First Church was not a political figure, it was God . Pelosi , Bush, Obama ,Reid, Reagan whichever political figures you find yourself supporting more with your views are not represntative of God . They make compromises, deals, sacrifice principles to promote what they believe to be the greater good. I happen to believe bigger government intervention stops the ability for all of us to have a better chance at better lives , it also puts religious freedom on the back of the list of things to be concerned about . Also the abilty for people to prosper and creat new and better methods of living . Socialism, communism have a poor history of making things better for people. My liberal friends always believe but this time redistribution will be better because we are more concerned about our fellow man then past regimes . I don't put my faith in people , I happen to like them , but if they are anything like me eventually people will ALWAYS let you down.

Big government - that is, over 50% is the military-industrial complex NOT counting the current war machines wherein both the generals and the contractors are making BILLIONS....

When I hear the right decide to end the communist/socialist/Big Government military machine being used to steal our wonderful American taxpayers blind, then I will find their statements credible. Otherwise, they just drip with hypocrisy as they want to steal a few dollars from some inner city kid all the while stuffing BILLIONS (literally!!) into Corporate pockets to feed the cycle of corruption that is the military/industrial/congressional complex that the great Republican President/General Dwight D. Eisenhow warned us about!

  16. We really do need more accoutability in government. It's become so big and out of control.
We've been seeing it loose it's moral compass for so many years, as well as seen it waste so much.

  17. Mick : Here in Everett a mobile park dedicated to seniors was sold to developers. These seniors have put their life saving in these homes with the expectations of living out their last day in comport. Should the owner be allowed to sell their property and cause seniors disstress and worry? How does this match up to the message of Christ?

Indeed - have you watched how the military budget - approx 60% of the total budget - everything else pales by comparison - has increased over the last couple decades....

Please make sure to include the dollars wasted in Iraq (inc. the 12 BILLION that Paul Bremer - Bush's hand picked stooge - simply "lost" to Iraqui insurgents... every wonder what happened to your hard earned tax dollars....) ASK GEORGE!
