Redefining Marriage--Redefining Truth

Print Friendly Version of this pagePrint Get a PDF version of this webpagePDF
A growing number of homosexual activists are adopting religious messages to address acceptance of what they call marriage "equality" and to define those who oppose it as bigots.

You saw the religious theme in the email from a homosexual to an individual who signed R-71 that we posted in a previous blog.

Rather than referring to biblical passages that define homosexual behavior as sin and an "abomination," some so-called progressive Christian leaders are joining homosexual activists in advancing a pious appearing message of inclusion, openness and acceptance of "committed" same-sex "marriages" as honorable to God.

Groups such as "Believe Out Loud" and "Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists" and others have partnered with homosexual activists to target pastors, churches and church members and in some cases, those involved in petition campaigns to defend marriage.

The Christian Post published an article on this in December.

I am told there are those organizing such an effort in Washington State, both during the petition gathering campaign for I-1192 and R-74, and after either or both are on the ballot.

You will recall that just last year President Obama referred to the teaching on homosexual behavior in Romans chapter 1, as "obscure" verses.

Activists and leftist so-called "progressive" Christian leaders base their argument for "equality" in marriage on the theology of left leaning leaders such as Bill Wylie-Kellerman and others.

Here is an example:

Wylie-Kellerman argues that the law in Leviticus barring the Israelites from homosexual relations was part of a purity code meant to keep the Israelites separate from Babylon. Because Jesus welcomed the "unclean" to Himself throughout His ministry and fulfilled the purity code in His body on the cross, Wylie-Kellerman is teaching people, "In Christ, there is neither gay nor straight."

Twisted Truth. Be Vigilant. Be Discerning.

Barrett Duke, vice president for public policy and research at the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission says, "The bible does not accept homosexual behavior of any kind , nor does it call on Christians or society to treat homosexual behavior as normal."

Well said.

You will see an intensified effort to use Scripture to affirm and normalize homosexual behavior as we go forward. It worked with Gov. Gregoire, causing her to deny the faith and teaching of her own church, by her own admission. Others in the legislature followed her, also redefining Truth.

We will be publishing columns from time to time, designed to help clarify what the Bible actually teaches on homosexual behavior. And giving notice of the various attempts to not only redefine marriage, but to redefine the Truth.

Thanks to all who have joined us in circulating petitions for I-1192 across the state. Thousands of petitions are being circulated by those who signed up with Faith and Freedom.

We have coordinators covering every area of the state, working with those who are circulating the petitions. I am very encouraged by the early reports.

We will be circulating R-74 petitions as soon as they are available, which I hear will be about 2 weeks.

If you have not yet signed up to help, please do so here.

Your financial support is critical at this time. Thank you so much for standing with us as we stand for marriage.

Be Vigilant. Be Discerning. Be Prayerful. Be Active. Be Blessed.

  1. If any so called "Christian" leaders help homosexuals in any way they will have to face God on judgement day. I won't have any problem with that myself.

  2. Based on Gary's on-going avoidance and dismissal of clear scripture, he should feel comfortable with additional mis-use of scripture.

  3. Dear anonymous, I don't quite understand your post. Everyone is going to face God on judgment day either as believers who have accepted Christ and His Word then our works will be judged or as unbelievers who have rejected Christ and His Word who will face the great white throne judgement. That is a simplistic answer I know. In regards to perversity whether homosexual or heterosexual both of which violate the clear Word of God, I agree with Gary Randall wholeheartedly and pray that he might continue to hold fast to sound doctrine while reaching out to the sinner in the hope that "some might be saved". In the meantime I will do what I can to advance groups such as Faith and Freedom. Pastor Dave Marblemount, WA

    1. I'm just saying that even it anyone thinks their Christian that once they do anything to help homosexuals they won't be anymore and God will know it.

  4. This is to be expected, false prophets and teachers always arise to spread Satan's lie, " did God really say.....". Revelation warns the church about adopting the ways of the world. The seeds of the church in Pergamum and Thyatira are still with us and unfortunately the church looks more and more like the Laodicean one, neither hot nor cold. Wake up people! God will not contend with man forever! Stand firm in sound doctrine, you will save yourself and your listeners. Thanks, Gary.

  5. While Wylie-Kellerman has it right that the Lord "welcomed the unclean to Himself" fortunately for us He did not come to leave us that way/ To use (or rather abuse) the account of a leper called "unclean" or a woman with an issue of blood called "unclean" was that instead of leaving the "unclean" that way, Jesus HEALED them. To try to say that "In Christ, there is neither gay nor straight" is a distortion of the truth of God's Word veering way off course. It’s easy to say “God loves me just the way I am” but the truth of the matter is that He doesn’t want us to stay that way. Like the woman caught in adultery, He loved her where she was at, but fortunately for her (and us) he did not “leave” her that way. He gave her a choice, “woman your sins are forgiven you, BUT go and sin no more. THIS is the redemptive purpose of Christ! The word sin literally means don't miss the mark. We know of countless "gay" men and women who have turned their life to Christ the Lord and in turn are now walking the "straight" and narrow. A former Board member of ours was once “gay.” He turned his life to Christ and has been married to one woman for over 20 years with children and grandchildren now who (like many!) can attest to the healing power of Christ! Mr. Wylie-Kellerman, you got it wrong.

  6. Quck question - since Timothy forbids women to teach men about is

    1) Valerie a man's name.
    2) or is the claim to title Pastor more humorous?

If Biblical dogma is paramount as is claimed in just the previously left note, those are the only 2 possibilities, right?

Or is this like the 3rd part of Jesus's lesson on the Law, there will always be that one thing you willfully won't do?

  7. Notice, Mr. Vishanti, that Paul in I Timothy says "I do not allow..." This is not meant to be God's command, because there are too many examples of women in ministry who are blessed by God because men didn't step up. "In Christ there is no male and female..."

  8. Ah you are going with a number 4) some of what's said in the Bible is contextual. Since I have been saying that all along I am in complete agreement.

    Ditto about same sex relations.

    1. The Bibble says that a man leaves his mother and father and is joined to his wife, not his husband. That is the context of marriage.

    2. Since this is only about the 100% secular civil contract titled 'Marriage' that really isn't relevant.

  9. My "homosexual activist" agenda for today:

7:30am Wake up - make coffee & protein shake
8:00am Make oatmeal with nuts & dried fruit topped with fresh banana
8:30-9:30 Walk the dogs (beautiful day for it). Met plenty of my neighbours, some also walking their dogs. It was a great social time
9:30-10:00 Dishes & straightening up the kitchen
    10:00-11:30 Household chores
11:30-12:00pm Check in with my friends on FaceBook. Read some funny new jokes that my friend across town posted! Was great fun! Oh, also checked in on pics of my friends' new baby - she lives in France now and we haven't seen each other for a few years. We've known each other for almost 30 years now!
12:00-12:15pm Check some emails, research a new voicemail company & check my reservation for a moving van for Wednesday (moving my mom to a new place - she's very excited!)
12:15-12:30 Followed a link to this site and reviewed some of the exciting articles! I think it's adorable y'all want a better world, but it's a shame that you think my "lifestyle" is so perverted and I'm so unlike you.

My plans for the rest of the day?
Oh, I don't know...overthrow the free world. That sounds fun. Then maybe open a bottle of wine & watch the sunset.
