Sen. Maria Cantwell: "I Am Furious" And "Mad"

Senator Maria Cantwell says, "I am furious. We're mad and we're tired of it."

Phyllis Schlafly, founder of Eagle Forum, says what Cantwell and others are trying to do is to "fill feminist coffers" with more money.

And Janice Shaw Crouse, with Concerned Women for America, says what Cantwell and others are attempting is a "boondoggle," expanding government and it creates, she says, "an ideology that all men are guilty and all women are victims."

While President Obama continues his war on religious liberty, Christian values, unborn babies, free speech and right of conscience, Washington's Cantwell and other far left progressives are "furious" and "mad" because all that is still not enough.

Cantwell, Harry Reid, and others are storming the Senate Floor this week demanding that the "Violence Against Women Act" be re-enacted. Now.

Who could possibly stand against protecting women from violence?

That's the ploy.

Most Republicans agree with Schlafly, Shaw-Crouse and other people who hold traditional values. It is a ploy.

That's why it did not receive a single vote in the Judiciary Committee.

Republican leadership says the measure, under the cloak of battered women, unnecessarily expands immigration avenues by creating new definitions for immigration victims to claim battery, but even more importantly, it fails to put in safe guards to ensure that domestic violence grants are being well spent.

More money to "feminist coffers."

The Republicans also point out that the "Violence Act" expands protections to new groups.

Specifically same-sex couples.

This is a brick in the incremental pathway to nationally redefining marriage.

We have become familiar with legislative incrementalism in Washington State.

Over the past number of years, Senator Ed Murray and his enablers have pushed through little bills with benign little titles, claiming they had nothing to do with redefining marriage. It was about fairness and equality. And only bigots could object or oppose.

Now Gregoire and other legislators have had an epiphany; marriage has been redefined and the courts will not allow a ballot title on R-74 that accurately describes that marriage has been, in fact, "redefined." Because the word "redefine" would be inflammatory.

So, is Cantwell "furious" and "mad" because her agenda is not progressing on schedule? Or is their legitimate concern for same-sex partners? Or is this merely an attempt to expand government? Or, are all women victims and all men bad?

While political ploys continue, it is extremely important that people of faith and conservatives remain very vigilant. And discerning. And prayerful.

Thanks to all of you who are working with us as we work with others in defense of marriage.

Be Vigilant. Be Discerning. Be Prayerful. Be Active. Be Blessed.
