Same-Sex Marriage--What's Behind It?

A federal appeals court ruled Thursday afternoon against a central provision of the Defense of Marriage Act, a groundbreaking decision that tees up a potential battle before the Supreme Court. I have linked the story here.

With President Obama coming out in full support and putting the most powerful office in the world behind so-called homosexual "marriage," one wonders what is really behind such an abandonment over 5000 years of social order.

To redefine marriage, an institution that predates all organized civilizations---an institution that is honored and affirmed as a relationship between a man and a woman by every major religion, in order to accommodate a sexual behavior that is condemned by every major religion in the world, causes a person to look at what passion is really driving such a movement.

Not really. But equality is a word people love to embrace. To do so proves an individual to be fair, loving, open minded and progressive. A good person. To oppose the redefinition of marriage is to be seen as a hater, bigot, anti-civil rights racist and an out of touch person who is clinging to the past. A bad person.

But homosexual "marriage" doesn't create equality. Many are still discriminated against because they are close blood relatives, but may be in love and seek to marry. Or, because their sexual orientation or preference is toward having multiple wives or husbands. And what about those who prefer group marriage?

There is no equality. Only special rights for homosexual sexual behavior in this endeavor.

Is this a "civil rights" issue?

Homosexual activists and the media would have you believe it is, but when you look at the leadership in major campaigns to protect marriage, that notion seems to fade in the light of truth.

Recently North Carolina rejected homosexual "marriage" by a significant margin. Many in the leadership of that campaign were black pastors and churches. Would they stand against civil rights?

Pastor Ken Hutcherson, a friend and black pastor in the Seattle area, has told me often and strongly that he not only disagrees with that misrepresentation, but is offended by the notion that some how sexual behavior is equivalent to ethnicity.

Yet homosexual activists advocate that homosexuality is the new black.

Racially insensitive.

Black and Latino pastors played a significant roll in the landmark rejection of homosexual "marriage" in California's Prop. 8. They know it is not about civil rights.

Jeffery Kuhner was asking himself some of these same questions. Let me share some thoughts and quotes taken from one of his recent columns.
"Yet the same-sex-marriage issue is more important than simple politics. It is about the future of America’s civilization. Within hours of Amendment One’s victory, the pro-homosexual-marriage forces announced they would sue to block North Carolina’s constitutional ban. In other words, they repeated the Proposition 8 model: Circumvent defeat at the ballot box by asking leftist judges to trump the democratic will of the people. This is judicial tyranny masquerading as civil rights - a naked attempt by a minority to impose its neo-pagan immorality upon the majority. The homosexual agenda is a manifestation of the totalitarian impulse at the heart of liberalism: the desire by a ruling cartel to impose a social revolution from above.

Every major religious faith - Christianity, Islam, Orthodox Judaism - teaches that homosexuality is an abomination. Homosexual behavior, especially sodomy, is unnatural and immoral. It is absurd, bordering on social madness, to elevate gay and lesbian relationships to the sanctified status of marriage - a form of moral anarchy characterized by radical individualism, hedonism and sexual liberation. Same-sex marriage is a symptom of cultural decay.

Our Judeo-Christian ancestors understood something that postmodern liberals do not: The primary purpose of sexual activity is to procreate - to have children - within the boundaries of marriage. Romantic love, personal fulfillment, burning passion - all of these things are nice, but secondary to the real purpose and mission of marriage. Secular liberals are engaged in social engineering. They are fostering the myth that women and men are the same and interchangeable. According to Mr. Obama, a child needs two committed and loving parents - regardless of their gender. This is fantasy. A child needs a committed mother and father. Women and men are profoundly different; they have distinct natures, with unique biological, emotional and psychological characteristics. It is the fusion of these two divergent genders that provides the balance and harmony necessary for the healthy development of children. Hence, same-sex “marriage” is an oxymoron. It is akin to redefining gravity: an act of hubris destined to fail."

As the light is turned on, it becomes apparent that there is much more at stake in the so-called "marriage equality" movement.

When the campaign to redefine marriage in Washington State began with a press conference in Bellevue last fall, homosexual activists told the reporter they wanted "marriage" to affirm their lifestyle. They seek an acceptance of a lifestyle that is rejected by the moral code of every religion.

Kuhner says, "Once marriage falls, only one institution will be left standing in their way: traditional Christianity. The ultimate aim of the radical left has been to destroy religion--especially Western Christianity. Once a religion dies, so does the culture and civilization it spawned. America is at a crossroads, enmeshed in a cultural war with homosexual advocates like Mr. Obama who are determined to strike at the very nexus of our civilization."

Ultimately the attempt to re-engineer the social order of marriage and the family is an act of rebellion against God and His creation. And as Kuhner suggests, an attack against biblical Christianity itself.

America is indeed at a crossroads. An epic battle for the soul of our culture and that of the next generation is underway. Thank you for standing with us in this ministry.

  1. What's behind it? Destruction. I devote a plank in my Congressional platform to it:

    O. Homosexuality

"Government's responsibility is to uphold and respect traditional institutions, such as marriage between one man and one woman,...." 2010 Washington State Republican Party Platform

Homosexuality is an addiction, not an unalienable right. I've never known a homosexual who didn’t have a personality disorder. Homosexuality is a rare, intensely codependent sexual addiction that, like other addiction epidemics, has poisoned civilizations. It is the sine qua non of personal and national failure. Legislatively enshrining any addiction in marriage or the military is utter madness, or treachery. Humanity has an inherent Natural right of self-defense. That right has been defamed as a hate crime by addicts, Progressives seeking social destabilization, and RINOs craving power over principle.

The hypocrisy and irony is that self-hating homosexuals are in virulent denial of their addiction and are committing projection hate crimes and acts of violence and intolerance against Christians. Homosexual addicts naturally exclude themselves from Christianity by their acts; this inclines them to atheism and opposition to our God-given unalienable rights and responsibilities, which further inclines them to communism (political sodomy). They become enemies.

No one, including Obama, members of Congress and State elected officials, has the right to inflict addiction on our healthy society -- that's just common sense. Homosexual acts were felonies throughout our State and nation's history until forty years ago. They should still be felonies. Help and treatment are available. [Proof] [Proof]

    1. Read this yesterday and it appears to be what you are saying about the concern in regards to why their is so much anger here .

"Consider the three common forms of sexual activity between homosexual persons. Mutual masturbation in no way constitutes a physical union…. Among female homosexuals some form of genital massage is used to bring the partner to orgasm, but this is not a physical union. In anal or oral intercourse between males the intromission of the penis in an opening of the body not meant to be used for the genital expression of sexuality cannot be called a true physical union….By way of contrast, the heterosexual union aptly symbolizes the psychological and spiritual union that ought to exist between a man and a woman.24

One does not need a Ph.D. to realize that homosexuality is anatomically aberrant; that is, there is a created biological order intended in our sexuality. As an editorialist at Harvard’s Peninsula journal writes: “How can (homosexual) people be happy when they’re persistently deceiving themselves, believing that it is just as natural for sperm to swim into feces as it is to swim into eggs?“

  2. Gary this is very affirming. Many of us know this, but you have a way of making these issues relavant. Thank you and God bless you.

  3. Again same old drums, Gary. This is about changing the licensing restrictions on a 100% secular civil contract, that's all. The state doesn't marry anyone. And as far as all people having a right to a husband or a wife that horse left the barn over a decade ago.

This is only about all citizens having the same right as other citizens to license the contract in support of marriage with a spouse.

The institution hasn't changed, Romans were marrying same sex couples back in the Republic (always amusing when people blame the gays for the fall of Rome when the Christians really had far more to do with it.) The First Americans allowed same sex marriage. Shoot the Catholics blessed same sex unions for centuries.

The real situation is just boring - about 1% more married couples will be allowed to license the civil contract in support of their marriage. All citizens will be able to license with unrelated, unmarried, of age adult man, just like 50% can now, and ditto for with an adult woman.

Marriage equality - all citizens being able to do what other citizens can already to do.

And even if the state doesn't license them they will still be married, by their own declaration and in churches and synagogues across this world.

Why are you so against helping make your neighbor's marriage better?

    1. Because it's not marriage, regardless of what the state or church says, no affirmation from God.

      Craig in Lacey

    2. Are ya sure? You're going by stuff written about him a couple thousand years ago. A lot's happened since then. Maybe he could just reaffirm it. Seriously, how hard would it be for him to just tweet or do a quick interview on Fox?

    3. You might have a point there . The President was on CNBC and he was saying God promoted Gay Marriage now ,spoke about Resuurection and the Golden Rule . Figure this has to be true , he knows all about Hope and Change , Uniting us , and flip flopping and throwing His Pastor Under the Bus when it is expedient . Figure he is better then the religious right ever was, plus he had his Attorney General speak to Black Churches because was very concerned about preaching the Gospel of re election right up to where you do not get in trouble with the IRS. Maybe CNBC can do a Faith healing by writting some more Fox sponsors , it would be such a miracle . I mean its hard too add 6 trillion dollars to the debt and have less jobs then you started . That is proof that the CNBC God of today is on the march . Because all they speak about about is they want to see the Burning Bush .

  4. I just read that Target is now selling some t-shirts to raise money for a group working to defeat a gay marriage ban in Minnesota.

Given that large corporations are generally amoral and just chase the biggest profit, it looks like the million moms is a fizzle.

  5. "..behind such an abandonment over 5000 years of social order."

You know that by your numbers, when the US outlawed slavery, it abandoned about 4,850 years of social order.
