Deifying Barack Obama

While we mock God by re-defining His most basic human model---marriage between one man and one woman, we are also creating our own "new gods".

At a recent BET "Soul Train Awards" special, actor Jamie Foxx told the crowd to, "Give honor to God and our lord and savior Barack Obama."

Left wing activist, artist Michael D' Antuono, is showing his painting titled, "The Truth," which features Barack Obama with a crown of thrones on his head, in a position that reminds one of the crucifixion.

Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights said, "What makes this display so interesting is the flat denial of truth by so many artists and academicians, as well as their irrepressible hostility to Christianity. Yet when it comes to their savior, President Obama, they not only pivot, they proselytize."

Interesting thought.

Romans chapter 1 defines our times. "Because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God," instead they, "becoming futile in their minds," tried to make God into an image "made like corruptible man" and they "exchanged the truth of God for a lie."

Yes I know, these are a few extreme expressions some will say. Most people don't really agree with these kinds of statements.

Perhaps, but they certainly reflect a growing propensity to mock God and to assume the role of God, when we are not God.

And therein is the crises in America and our communities. It is not primarily a fiscal or political crises, but a spiritual one.

This is a time to stand for Truth. Thanks for standing with us.

Be Vigilant. Be Discerning. Be Prayerful. Be Active. Be Bold. Be Blessed.

  1. We saw what happened when Islam was mocked by a cartoonist some time ago. Now, look at what will happen when Christianity is mocked. His followers will display the true God, gentle, kind, patient, forebearing and mature about the whole thing. They can mocked the outward appearance, but cannot take His everlasting love from us. The Bible says in Psalm 115:4-8 that those who dont belong to our God, Christ, are like wooden, silver and gold carvings. There Idols, gods are worthless, vain and unable to respond to the pleas of a worshipper.

    1. It's always safer to mock a faith that requires its followers to turn the other cheek, than one whose members are encouraged to slaughter its detractors.

  2. If we were to display an Obama figurine immersed in a jar of urine, which do you think we'd get: an NEA grant or a visit from the Secret Service?

    1. I don't think anyone would care or be surprised that this is how you spend your time.

    2. I think you missed his point , one act of vulgarity is seen as art , one would be rightly seen as vulgar hatred.

Notice also the decorations out side the art museum are called Holiday trees and Holiday decorations so not not to offend anyone .

  3. Art is in the eye of the beholder, and often the point is to shock and instigate thought. Just as a small number will see art in Jesus in urine, I'm sure there are a number of Obama haters that would see your project as art. Personally, I don't see art in either and ignoring both would be my response.

It is you missing the point if you think the trees are renamed not to offend. It's actually to be inclusive so that it's not just a decoration for a single religion. I see the tree as a Pagan Tree of Life or Celebration of Winter Solstice, so renaming the tree allows my celebration to be included. You guys stole Christmas from the Pagans in the first place, so don't be so uptight about it.

    1. What? The pagans never celebrated Christmas in the first place, hard to steal something that never existed. Don't be so uptight about it.

    2. We guys stole Christmas ? LOL Right you sound so inclusive . Your logic means we should name Martin Luther King Day maybe Plumber Joe Day , how about calling Veterans Day Ordinary American day because we want to remember those who died of old age too, how about to be inclusive instead of Gay Pride Month we call it whatever month .

Christmas Is a National Holiday , it celebrates a life that promoted Good Will and Love . Changed the course of History , and regardless of faith has many American traditions that HONOR and Respect the Day .

You don't have to respect it or celebrate it ,just like you do not have to celebrate gay pride month , but its not a Holiday Tree, Its a Christmas Tree. Its not anybody pride month , its a month dedicated to Gays , as it is Martin Luther King day Day and a day for Veterans .

In being inclusive you are are showing how intoelrant you are . I really do not mind if some says happy holidays , Merry christmas or just a smile , in your case it is obvious what the name change is for .

You missed the point , the Jesus in urine was on the tax payer dime , hard to defend to changing the name of Christmas tree to Holiday Tree to be inclusive . Nice try . LOL

Your a mean one Mr. Grinch .

    3. Craig, you're right, the pagans never celebrated Christmas. Christmas is the name the Christians gave to the winter holiday they stole from the pagans.

    4. Mick, yes I am intolerant of religious intrusion into the public square and I'm proud of it. You can have a christmas tree at your house, we'll have a winter solstice tree in our house, and the public square will have a holiday tree. This is all about forcing your religion on every one else. We're just not going to accept that anymore.

And, so the guy who did the bad art 25 years ago got some public money. Big deal. Isn't there something a little more current for you guys to freak out about?

    5. This might come as a surprise to you 12:44, but religion in the public square has been a tradition in our country since its inception. Check your history. Merry Christmas =)

    6. 8:20, nobody stole anything. I'm sure somewhere in the world Nov. 11 is celebrated for something besides Veterans Day. I guess we stole that too or any other day we celebrate. Chill out, dude.

    7. Do a search on 'holidays christians borrowed from pagans'. It's well documented. And now that it's called a holiday tree, I am quite happy and chill. Thank you.
