"We Fumbled The Roll Out"-- A Loss Of Credibility And Trust

President Obama said yesterday, "We fumbled the rollout."

But it's about much more than a dysfunctional website.

Columnist Michael Goodwin wrote yesterday, "When I first saw the headline saying Bill Clinton was advising President Obama to 'honor his commitment' I had to laugh. The idea of Monica Lewinsky's boy friend as moral referee always cracks me up."

While not as cynical, many share the sentiment. When credibility is lost, trust is also lost.

The President, who has stood his ground on his signature legislation, Obamacare, has apparently had an epiphany.

Is it merely political? Or was there some moral aspect to his words yesterday?

He told the country, "I hear you loud and clear."

The mega chorus of millions who have lost their healthcare combined with the Democrats running for re-election in 2014 is not singing "Ode To Joy." Everyone is hearing the message loud and clear.

The President said, "I completely get how upsetting this can be for a lot of Americans, particularly after assurances they heard from me that if they had a plan they like, they can keep it."

But the haunting question for the millions of Americans who are upset seems to be, "Why would he tell us that, when we now know that he knew 3 years ago this would be the outcome when his heath care plan was rolled out?"

Did he do so just to suppress opposition until he could get Obamacare through Congress, knowing he could perhaps better deal with the truth later?

We know he is hearing us, but what is the motive of his new promises?

He is telling us he will instruct the insurance companies to extend or reinstate those canceled policies for a year.

Will they comply? Or have they lost sufficient trust, concerned about the next chapter of the Obamacare saga, to say thanks, but no thanks?

Speaker of the House John Boehner is asking if the President actually has the authority to change the law with his new promise.

President Obama says he is going to change the law and "direct insurers to offer a one year renewal" to those millions of people who have lost their insurance, effective January 1, 2014.

Will the insurance companies comply given the President's existing breach of credibility?

They've got to be asking themselves if such a move is worth it, knowing the past performance of the President and the uncertain future of his healthcare law as it continues to "evolve." Perhaps "devolve."

And can a president just "change the law?"

Even Howard Dean is questioning "by what authority?" And Jimmy Carter's grandson is calling this "a mess."

But the President says he can do it.

He says he has the legal authority and discretion to issue a one year reprieve, since it serves as a "bridge" while a major law is implemented.

Speaker of the House John Boehner says, "I am highly skeptical that they can do this administratively. I just don't see within the law their ability to do that."

The President is placing 2 conditions on insurance companies who "comply with his directive."

First, they must detail what their renewal coverage does not cover. That's hardly a motivation for them to respond.

Secondly, they must make people who re-up aware of state run and federally facilitated Obamacare markets where they can search for higher-level health coverage, often with the help of income-based government subsidies.

Why would the insurance companies comply with this directive voluntarily? This does not look like a motivator.

Is this another attempt at deception?

Is this a staged "good faith" attempt to help hurting people only to find that the insurance companies refuse to work with the government for the greater good? But provides wiggle room to get past the 2014 elections.

"You can keep your health care plans until after the 2014 election."

Will the President be telling us in a few months that because of greed on the part of business and partisan opposition by the Republicans have now forced him to adopt the only solution left, which would be single payer health insurance?

"Single payer" translated means socialized government run health care.

This was the goal from the beginning. Is this disastrous roll out now seen as an opportunity, albeit an embarrassing one, to use the crises as a stepping stone to achieve the ultimate goal of a fully socialized medical system?

I noticed some Americans were saying yesterday, "Mr. President, if you like your apology, you can keep it."

I also noticed that some are remembering the, "If you like your health plan, you can keep it" line from the past.

At Broadlawn Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa on September 17, 2007, Hillary Clinton shared her version and vision of socialized health care. She said, "You can keep the doctors you know and trust. You can keep the insurance you have. If you have private insurance you like, nothing changes---you can keep that insurance."

Nothing changes.....

With credibility gone, trust is gone.

A poll this week found that the public trusts Fox News more than the President on healthcare and more than all the other news outlets as well.

It was Jesus (Matt. 24:35; Mark 31:13; Luke 21:33) who said, "Heaven and Earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away."

What is the word of the Lord for these days?

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Be Vigilant. Be Informed. Be Discerning. Be Prayerful. Be Faithful. Be Blessed.
