Scientists Discover "Universe Created Suddenly"

Researchers are saying this week they have now spotted evidence that a "split second after the Big Bang, the newly formed universe ballooned out at a pace so astonishing that it left behind ripples in the fabric of the cosmos."

Wow. I had been told the universe evolved over billions and trillions of years.

Not so, scientists are saying. This new discovery "gives us a window on the universe at the very beginning."

"It's just amazing, you can see back to the beginning of time," they say.

Associated Press is reporting this week that Marc Kamionkowski with Johns Hopkins University says this discovery is "not just a home run. It's a grand slam."

The report says the astronomers "scanned about 2% of the sky for 3 years with a telescope at the South Pole where the air is exceptionally dry."

They were looking for "a specific pattern of light waves within the faint microwave glow left over from the 'Big Bang'."

The scientists say if this "grand slam" is verified, it would be the first detection of such waves or tremmors from the birth of the universe.

Not all, but many, scientists believe that the universe exploded from a tiny spec and hurled itself out in all directions in the fraction of a second that followed, beginning just 10 to the minus 35 35 seconds (roughly one trillionth of a trillionth of a second) after the universe's birth.

It is said that Creationists must have a great amount of faith to believe God created the universe.

As I read this report, it occurred to me that these researchers must also have a great deal of faith in their research.

These light waves they have now discovered are the ancient light waves which remained imprinted in the skies and are a leftover glow called the "cosmic microwave background," they explain.

They are also explaining to the world that the expansion ripples are like ripples from a ball kicked into a pond.

What scientists don't seem to know is, "Who kicked the ball?"

Dr. Danny Faulkner with "Answers in Genesis" says of this window to the beginning of time, "As it turns out, if the effort they're reporting is really true---that they found and it survives scrutiny---there are actually a number of other mechanisms that actually might produce the same result."

He says, "So you could be reaching the wrong conclusions based upon the data."

Faulkner also says, "The announced discovery isn't as clean a theory as press reports suggest" and that disturbs him.

Faulkner, of course, is a Creationist. He says, "I don't believe the world is billions of years old as the Big Bang requires. I believe its only thousands of years old as the chronologies in the Bible seem to suggest. So the Big Bang stars existed for billions of years before the earth came along---but yet Genesis 1 tells us pretty clearly the earth came first and the stars came at least a few days later."

The scientists have told the press, "Nature is cooperating with us, laying out its cards in a way that can be seen."

More importantly, we should know that nature's God has "laid out all the cards" from the beginning.

The ace card explains, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."

The ripple effect of that act is clear to many today.

God's creative act was not merely a random creative act---it was purposeful, and when He finished at the close of the 6th day, "He saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good."

My personal discovery has led me to this: "The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it" (Ps. 24:1).

Be Blessed.
