Defeating Evil With A Hashtag

All of our hearts have been touched by the plight of the 276 Nigerian girls who have been kidnapped by Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram.

A video of the girls was released a few days ago showing the young Christian girls dressed in Muslim garb, with a couple of the girls explaining why they have converted from Christianity to Islam.

It is expected the girls will be forced to "marry" the terrorists or be sold into sex slavery unless they are rescued.

I am certain reasonable minds are working behind the scenes developing a plan to rescue these girls---at least we all want to believe they are.

Some of the girls being held hostage have sent Twitter messages, or hashtag messages.

A number of secular progressive women in Congress sent #messages in return calling for the girls release.

However, this week our First Lady sent her own message to the terrorists.

With a sad face she is pictured holding a sign that says, "#BringBackOurGirls."

There was a response from the terrorists.

A picture emerged of Boko Haram's leader, Abubakan Shekau, holding a machine gun in one hand and a piece of paper in the other.

The paper carried a message to our First Lady and the other far left secular progressive Tweeters in Congress.

On the paper was scrawled, "#We Surrender".

Are we that far removed from reality that we think we can "raise awareness" with terrorists and have them reconsider their actions? Or evolve into outstanding citizens?

Or have we lost our minds?

Ben Shapiro makes a good point. He says, "Led by the bravery of the First Lady Michele Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the Democrat women in the United States Senate, the West Tweeted Boko Haram into submission."

More than a few are expressing concern over the wisdom of the "hashtag campaign."

They are saying it puts on full display "the Western impotence combined with an overwhelming sense of unearned moral superiority that comes with sounding off in public."

The message coming from leadership in a country that is leading the world in exporting beliefs in same-sex "marriage," abortion and pornography are asking terrorists to "do the right thing."

Is it just me, or is there a major disconnect here?

How did we get to this place?

Part of the answer is found in an article in The New York Times as they try to explain why the United States waited until November 2013 to designate Nigeria's Boko Haram as a "foreign terrorist organization."

The story makes the point that the designation came only "after Hillary Clinton resigned as Secretary of State."

Clinton's former assistant secretary of African affairs, Johnny Carson---no, not that Johnny Carson, tells the Times we opposed designating them as terrorists for "6 or 7 reasons."

The sum of the reasons seem to be driven by a fear factor within the administration, and outright delusion.

Words and feelings are far more important than convictions and actions in the world of secular progressivism.

"Raising awareness" is preferred to taking action.

Daniel Benjamin, a counter terrorist official, seems to be asking the Times, "What difference does it make?"

In 2012, our State Department said Boko Haram was motivated not by Islamic extremism, but by anger at "poor government service delivery" and "poverty."

A similar misleading, or delusional---or both, statement was made regarding the terror attack on our embassy in Benghazi. That, you recall, was said to have been caused by a negative video about Islam created by a man in America.

All of this, of course, gave credence to President Obama's pre-election claim that terrorists are on the run, we won.

Secular progressives with their "relativism" believe there are no absolutes---truth evolves, and your truth may not be my truth, so the end always justifies the means. There's really no such thing as a lie, because it is for a greater cause, a greater end.

They also believe, with no eternal truths or permanent rights, Americans must be governed by a "living Constitution," one that endlessly grows and evolves with the times. Ultimately one that they can continually revise to accomplish their ends.

Progressives insist the modern world is so complex and problematic that we need an activist government to manage political life and human affairs.

The end of this is tyranny and dictatorship.

Ironically, while expressing different goals, Islam runs on a parallel track.

The following is a sobering excerpt from a speech given at Eagle Forum by Dr. Michael S. Coffman.

America is at war, and doesn’t even know it. Americans have been indoctrinated by our public education system and the progressive mainstream media to accept progressive ideas as valid, and Islam as a religion of peace. They are not. They are diametrically opposed to the Constitutional Republic established by our Founding Fathers. Right-left politics are bad enough. But this is much, much worse than that. Most Islamists and liberal progressives – this does not include liberals – fundamentally hate capitalism, property rights, your liberty, Christianity and everything else that made America the greatest nation in the history of the world.

Those steeped in progressive and Islamic ideology know that they are right and everyone else is wrong. There is no such thing as compromise in either ideology. They may seem to compromise, but it is an illusion. Both ideologies teach adherents to lie. It is merely part of their strategy to eventually win. They have succeeded for decades by relentlessly lying, intimidating, bullying, mocking, demonizing, and even destroying anyone or anything that stands in their way. Their strategy is based on “the end justifies the means,” including class warfare. Progressives and Islamists constantly accuse everyone else of hatred and bigotry in order to hide in plain sight their own hatred, bitterness, intolerance and bigotry that is usually magnitudes worse than those they accuse. They admit amongst themselves that they are at war with the American legal system and tradition so they can implement their utopian/religious ideals of social and environmental justice using the Soviet model (totalitarian) of governance. Both progressives and Islamists are attempting to create international law whereby any negative speech against Islam in general and Mohammed and Allah specifically is hearsay and punishable by imprisonment.

For over a hundred years progressives in both political parties have been manipulated by a global elite to systematically undermined America’s Constitutional foundation in order to create a world government. They have plundered the wealth of this nation to advance their goals to destroy the very tools of liberty that created the wealth and prosperity America has produced.
Although things may seem to be as they always have been, that is a deliberately created mirage. Americans can’t see it because our public education and the progressive media has slowly but systematically indoctrinated us for a hundred years to accept the progressive (now Islamist) version of reality. America is in desperate trouble and these progressives/Islamists seem to be planning a complete collapse of this once great nation in the next couple of years.

Liberty in America as established by our Founders is in its death throes. The current “solutions” to our economic woes and high unemployment are actually making America’s economy worse because they are based on an ideology that has always failed. Greece, Portugal, Spain, Italy and now Cypress are merely leading the way for what will happen in the rest of Europe and America. Worse, America’s moral fabric is being shredded as Christianity and Judaism are systematically extinguished. America is in moral free-fall that is increasingly narcissistic, bigoted and hate-filled; demanding things that tears down rather than builds civilization.

Progressivism and Islam are a cancer. It is part of a global agenda that is destroying America. Both are evil.

Be Vigilant. Be Informed. Be Prayerful. Be Bold. Be Faithful. Be Blessed.

  1. I couldn't help but remember how Rod Parsley used to plead for children taken captive by such groups, and would ask for money to ransom them. It seemed to me that this sort of thing happens all the time, and has been happening for decades at least, driven by a lot of things, the love for money at least.

Then I wondered if this was given so much media attention in order to put Mrs. Clinton in the spotlight.....I just don't know. Both politicians and news media, I suppose, know how to use people.

  2. Where is the conservative voice on TV news? Is it that conservative people in politics have no plea to make on the behalf of the oppressed, or is it the media?

  3. Where is this new world order that President Bush Sr. talked about, the war against terror and all? We sure could use help from lots of nations on this kind of thing. Though we can not react together against all things, these things that get so much attention can be an opportunity for the world powers to work together against terrorism, and the world may be better for it in my opinion.

  4. Right on Gary. And just because I'm an intolerant bigot doesn't mean like minded conservatives have to act in like manner.... Or are we already too indifferent and apathetic for this country to survive? Ok Co, WA

  5. It seems to me that one thing the devil doesn't like is a good hashtag. Though it may not completely defeat him right away, I don't think he likes it very much.
