Grandma Gun Store Owner, Doesn't "Understand" Obama

Carolyn Kellim is 86 years old.

She owns a gun store.

She lives in Roseburg, Oregon.

And she doesn't "understand Obama's strange ideas" on gun control.

The president will be here in the Northwest tomorrow.

He is going to Roseburg, where many are asking him not to come.

He is also going to Seattle for a fundraiser with Sen. Patti Murray, where she and her followers wait with great anticipation.

Two very different views.

Grandma Carolyn Kellim is plain spoken. She says she is sick of the president's "executive anus" and his "strange ideas on gun control."

Kellim's gun store--KC Exchange---is run out of her home. She both owns a gun---her gun of choice is a Ruger LCR .22 Magnum---and sells guns.

She says passing more gun laws is the worst thing Obama and his people can do---"I think that's the worst thing in the world they could do. They've got so many laws now that they are not even looking at, and more constraints on guns is not the answer."

She says she doesn't think Obama has "ever carried a gun," adding "I'm not sure he's ever shot one...but he seems to think they're bad all the way through. They're not."

Some would think this is an old woman trying to make a little money selling guns. They would be wrong.

Kellim gives away all the profits from her gun store because she says it's so important that we show kindness in our world today. She gives the money to help "people who have had a bad luck stroke."

She says, "We need to love people a heck of a lot more."

"There's too much hate and not enough love," she says.

President Obama has said repeatedly that it is not enough to offer condolences and prayers regarding this matter.

But many in Roseburg want neither from the president. In fact, they don't even want him to come to town.

David Jaques, publisher of the Roseburg Beacon says he doesn't think Obama will even be welcome in town "after making remarks politicizing the shooting..."

In fact he thinks that sentiment is throughout the county.

Part of this is related to County Sheriff John Hanlin, who put this administration on notice---in writting--- "if you pass any laws, edicts or executive actions that are either unconstitutional or extra-constitutional, they will not be enforced in Douglas County."

Hanlin has been savaged by the national press after he sent his letter to Vice President Joe Biden, and Biden made it public.

When this tragedy was underway, before the body count was complete, TIME Magazine joined MSNBC in attacking Sheriff Hanlin.

TIME posted this within hours after the shooting:

A little over two years before gun violence arrived at his doorstep in the form of Thursday’s mass shooting at Oregon’s Umpqua Community College, Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin sent a pointed letter to Vice President Joe Biden denouncing proposed gun-control laws.

In the letter, sent soon after the 2012 school shooting in Newtown, Conn. in which 26 people (mostly children under the age of 10) were gunned down, Hanlin expressed a refusal to enforce anti-gun laws that he said were “unconstitutional.”

“Gun control is NOT the answer to preventing heinous crimes like school shootings,” he said.

He's right, it is not. Grandma Kellim is also right. So are many others who are unafraid to stand for what "is" right.

Remember the Benham brothers?-----David and Jason Benham.

HGTV contracted them to do a TV show about buying homes, fixing them up, then selling them for a profit. The Benham brothers are experts at doing this.

They have, in fact, become multi-millionaires doing it. They are highly qualified and well spoken guys. Great for TV.

Well, almost great for TV.

HGTV was alerted by someone from a homosexual advocacy group that the "brothers" believe in traditional marriage---and they had attended marriage rallies---and had also attended Right to Life rallies.

The homosexuals were right. They have and do attend such rallies.

HGTV canceled their contract while America became better acquainted with these brothers.

They are involved with ministries such as Franklin Graham's Samaritan's Purse and others that are truly making a difference in our world.

When the tragedy struck the Roseburg community college, people found themselves searching for ways of expressing their feelings---appropriate ways to respond.

Obama wants to confiscate guns.

Grandma Kellim, Sheriff Hanlon and others find expression in standing against the "strange ideas" of the far left---and I agree with them.

But there is a better way.

The Benham brothers may not be "fit for TV" in today's American world of entertainment, but they certainly understand the problem in our culture.

In a video posted on their Facebook page they said this:

"The tragedy in Oregon isn't about guns or mental health but rather evil that comes from Satan himself and demons manifesting themselves in our nation."

David Benham says on the video, "This is what true evil looks like, and we want to encourage those who are grieving today is that there is hope in the resurrection."

They urge Americans not to get lost in the notion of blaming the NRA, guns or mental illness---this is "A secular humanist worldview that doesn't address the real problem facing our nation."

David says, "We have a spiritual, moral problem in this nation," noting that the shooter was "bent on evil."

He explains: "In Genesis 6:11, the Bible says now the Earth was corrupt in the sight of God and violence filled the Earth. That word for corrupt literally means moral decay, depravity---to turn from moral boundaries."

"And what happens," he continues, "is when we are morally corrupt in America or as a nation, violence will fill the void, and the answer is not found in trying to get mental healing. The answer is not found by trying to get gun control on the books."

Jason joins his brother saying, "There is no police force big enough to make a man do what's right...there is no amount of legislation that's going to force people to do what's right if evil is already set in their heart."

"But there is a God," Jason says, "who is big enough. If we can turn to Him and give Him our hearts, then we can change the entire landscape."

"It's the Truth that sets us free. There is hope and its only found in Jesus Christ," the brothers say.

They're right. I have nothing to add.

Be Free. Be Hopeful.
