Did Trump Suggest Violence Against Hillary?

Trump, in NC this week, said, "Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish the Second Amendment. By the way, and if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don't know."

All major news networks jumped on board---"dangerous, not normal, must be addressed," they are telling America.

In 2008, Hillary, who was loosing to Obama and being pushed to withdraw from the race "for the sake of the Party," reminded them that, "Well my husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California, I don't understand it," she said regarding the call for her to drop out.

We are a culture of "selective memory."

We are also a culture of smoke and mirrors.

I don't know what Trump meant with his words. Neither does anyone else except, perhaps, Trump himself.

God knows.

Within minutes, NBC was reporting, "Donald Trump's comments...sparked outrage from opponents --but the [Trump] campaign defended the remarks by arguing that Trump was referring to the group's considerable political power."

However, NBC's headline told the story they really wanted to convey to the American public: "Trump 'Second Amendment' Comment Seen as Veiled Threat Against Clinton."

Hillary's people immediately seized the moment by sending out a fundraising letter within minutes that said, "This is not normal or acceptable talk from a presidential candidate"

"We need to stand up right now and show that we don't tolerate this kind of politics in America..." she said.

And how should a person "stand up?"

"Chip in $1 right now, and let's stop him," Hillary tells us.

Opportunism.

It was in 2008 that Hillary made a similar statement---but that's different. Right?

Selective memory.

Being pushed by her own political Party to withdraw from the 2008 presidential primary race to clear the way for Barack Obama, Hillary responded, "Well, my husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California, I don't understand it," she said.

Was she suggesting someone should or could or might do harm to Barack?

I don't know what Hillary meant with her words. Neither does anyone else except, perhaps, Hillary herself.

God knows.

What is clear, however, is that our world---politically, culturally and morally has devolved to "smoke and mirrors"---a place where reality is gray and blurry and often lacks human explanation.

Nowhere is this more evident than in a presidential political campaign.

This latest little dust up about whether someone wants harm to come to someone else is an example of the world we live in.

An even greater example of the murky gray culture in which we live became apparent late yesterday afternoon in the new batch of Hillary Clinton emails that have been released by Judicial Watch.

It is becoming apparent there was an inappropriate link between the $100,000,000 Clinton Foundation and the U S State Department.

To those not grounded in God's Word---absolute Truth, it seems that everything is just, as they say, "smoke and mirrors."

Or as Trump is fond of saying, "It's rigged."

Smoke and mirrors.

"Smoke and mirrors," Wikipedia says, "is a metaphor for a deceptive, fraudulent or insubstantial explanation or description."

In fact, this so characterizes our times that the secular rock group "Imagine Dragons" had a world tour, including a stop at the Tacoma Dome earlier this year, called "Smoke and Mirrors" which featured a song with the same title.

I have heard, but haven't confirmed, that it was the most "played" song in the world this past year.

The words describe the desperate confusion, emptiness, uncertainty and deception created by a relativistic, progressive worldview.

We are living in the consequences created by rejecting Eternal Truth. God's Truth.

These are some of the lyrics of the song:

[Verse 1]
This is my word, this is my way
Show me a sign, sweep me away
This is my word; heart breaker, gatekeeper
I'm feeling far away, I'm feeling right there
Deep in my heart, deep in my mind
Take me away, take me away
This is my word; dream maker, life taker
Open up my mind

[Chorus]
All I believe, Is it a dream?
That comes crashing down on me?
All that I own
Is it just smoke and mirrors?
I want to believe
But all that I own
Is it just smoke and mirrors?

[Verse 2]
All that I've known, buildings of stone
Fall to the ground without a sound
This is my word; heart breaker, gatekeeper
I'm feeling far away, I'm feeling right there
I'm starting to cave, I'm losing my flame
I wanted your truth, but I wanted the pain
To disappear dream maker, life taker
Open up my mind

[Chorus]
All I believe, Is it a dream?
That comes crashing down on me?
All that I own
Is it just smoke and mirrors?
I want to believe
But all that I own
Is it just smoke and mirrors?

[Bridge]

[Chorus]
All I believe, Is it a dream?
That comes crashing down on me?
All that I own
Is it just smoke and mirrors?
I want to believe
But all that I own
Is it just smoke and mirrors?

First Corinthians 14:33 says, "For God is not a God of confusion."
